Westerners are used to seeing a home built in 6-8 months.
What your crew has done is amazing! Absolutely everything is manual labour. Watching the concrete pour is crazy. We are used to ordering trucks, rent a pump and away you go, all in one shot. These guys are mixing with a small machine and hauling by hand. Super work guys!

True, watching these contractors build a house here in the States is traumatizing 😀😀😀 I was so mad the first time I saw them building a house and it wasn’t even ours 😀😀😀. They can build a 3000sq feet house in 3 months 😱😱😱 I was like WTF😱

Concerning how long the build is taking, I wouldn't be surprised if it took at least another year to complete the house. Then there's the exterior, the yard the fence, accompanying structures. You guys are in it for quite a while but this is all good because it looks like you guys are enjoying the ride.

Try inquiring from the plant store in Valencia if they have stocks for VERMI Soil ... vermi is a cultured soil (feces from worms). It's good for dying plants w/c are still small. It really saves the plant. Then you can stop putting vermi soil as soon as you can see that the plants are bigger, blooming and healthier. Nice choice of plants. Take care and cheers!

Hi Finn! I'm glad things are coming along great with your new home. I have an idea to pump water more easily into your tank. You should look up a "ram pump". It would help you push the water from the main water hose to your tanks easily. It is a cheap and effective way to pump water uphill without electricity. Stay safe and I wish you both happiness.

Finn Sherlyn thinking about putting some solar lights on your concrete fence where the post are put right on top of the post. Also, you should put some lights and some of your stairs on the outside of your house and other stairs going down to your backyard you should get some solar lights on the inside of the stairsat night time so sharp in your glass that leads out to your pool like my friend did over here and United States. He had somebody come in and blast the glass and make that the dolphins in the glass looks really short think about that.

Finn, it isn't just that you are in the mountains that causes everything to be done manually. Here in the Philippines, it is done that way even in the city. Labor is cheap. Equipment is expensive. Things always take longer to build than they would in your home country because Filipinos don't worry about time as much as they do about overall cost. If the slower way is cheaper, then that is how they will do it. It is part of the culture. It is nice to see how you have adapted to the country, rather than trying to change things to meet your Western expectations.

Acacia is a beautiful tree but it's kinda weak on typhoons. I suggest you plant Molave (hard wood variety with periwinkle colored flowers). Bees like to hang out on this tree. Banaba tree is an endemic tree with beautiful lavender/ pink flowers. If you want fragrant flowering trees, try Dita or Champaca - native trees of SEA. pwede din Talisay for shade!
