Unfortunately I think that bungie has power crept all of the old hand cannons out of range because they made us so reliant on rangefinder to add an extra few meters to our gunfights that any hand cannon that doesn't get 35 meters feels like they're bad

@@scarletnoct5807 Rose has 5 more meters range. Spare can only hand for the 1st shot where it gets slideshot and opening bonus, Rose doesnt need that.
The worst part is it costing 4 engrams when you know you will be sharding ten of them in a row.

I think you should giving moving target spare a shot. The range isn’t amazing, but it is one of the most consistent HCs I’ve ever used. Also the origin trait is a free 20 range or so for like 3-4 shots after grabbing a special brick
I'll take your word that it probably does feel consistent, given spare's high base aa along with an additional +10 aa from moving target. But Wallah pretty much already has that roll but better in the form of his god roll Eyasluna, so a mt roll on the spare rations probably won't change his mind that spare is bad.

Honestly it could use some more stability but it’s actually in a solid spot you can get max range for 1 shot and 86 for two more seconds at that point this is if you have the full god roll. Now it moves it to more skill based user needing to proc and reproc those range buffs it’s a good match for smg and shotty userers that want to close that gap a bit
I feel like the sight and sound makeup for the vasectomy of rolls they gave this weapon after its reintroduction. It feels good because of nostalgia.

Ive been rocking the Cantata-57 with eye of the storm and rangefinder. Its so much better than spare rations. I guess all we can do is reminise on the good times that spare rations have us

It’s gonna drastically suck when they nerf rangefinder. HC’s NEED them. They’re basically nerfing the best handcannons in the game. AGAIN. FOR NO REASON. But they don’t care. Frustrating cuz HC’s already struggle a little in this sandbox. Taking away more range in them is just silly.
Its not like Bungie doesn't care, they do their best to keep the sandbox balanced and that's their job. HCs were not the only thing that needed rangefinder, SMGs needed rangefinder too because of their short range. Rangefinder made pretty much any gun good by the zoom multiplier increasing the range. Bungie did say however, that they would be doing a tuning pass over weapons that had rangefinder on them or where the zoom really played a factor in its performance. I wouldn't be surprised either if they do buff HC range going into Final Shape but probably like a meter or two.
Agreed, I know they are nerfing rangefinder mostly because of smgs, but it will hurt hand cannons more. I don't understand why they are doing this when target lock is still busted on the immortal
They want us to camp in the fucking back of the map or go balls deep on people. For me would be good if they restarted the crucible to the forsaken patch with just minor changes. It was savage, but fun.

I have a snapshot kill clip Spare that feels CRISPY. it doesnt have maxed out range with slideshot, but it gets real spicy once i get a kill on it. Spare doesn't feel that bad compared to rose, i actually prefer it.

as someone who isnt good enough at pvp to get a good rose, Ive been really liking spare rations. I have a rapid hit kill clip roll with hammer forged and high cal with a handling masterwork and I have been loving it.

Finally got a slideshot opening shot 4/5. Of course the masterwork was reload 😂 I have some great Roses and am enjoying spare in both 140/120 versions. It has some utility with swashbuckler that can be crazy on some builds so that’s fun.
I still think spare needs an adjustment, the origin trait helps, but it needs a range or stability bump, or they make it a lightweight like rose. The rangefinder nerf will help either case.
But, we shouldn’t have hand cannons with base range of 36 anymore 😂

i have the max range spare rations and it still pales in comparison to my mediocre rose. you put it best; it really is pathetic.
You get an extra half a meter bump in range with the masterwork. No rangefinder hurts this too much at the lower ranges.
I personally don’t mind that spare rations isn’t as good as rose because rose was harder to farm a god roll for and hand cannons would start to feel redundant if we kept getting copies

It's so lame how they brought it back with the exact same stats it had before as a 150, and that was also before they nerfed hc range. But despite not touching the horrendous base stats, they went out of their way to take away it's lightweight frame bonus. Good job bungo.
So without touching the rest of the gambit prime weapons stats you wanted them to juice up spare rations to either the level of everything else or it be another example of power creep?
@That Guy Mike the reason I want to juice spare rations specifically is because it's the only archetype of the returning gambit weapons that got its archetype nerfed and is drastically underpowered. All the other weapons are in the exact same state they were in when they got sunset. As stated above, when 150 handcannons got nerfed to 140s, they didn't have their stats compensated in return, which has led to all previous 150s underperforming. Look at previous good 150s like dire promise or thorn, they are just super bad now. So for bungie to bring back the most iconic destiny 2 handcannon in a state where it's probably not even top 5 kinetic hcs is super disappointing.
