Did you make sure to use the whole lace? They set the very end of one side of the lace on the edge of the shoe - which they show after completing the star - and work with the rest of it.

I have a tip! Do you see how there is a 2 eyelet difference from the middle of the star and the bottom? Just put the middle of the star one eyelet closer, and bring the rest down one! also, you dont NEED the top lace stripe above the star, so that can be omitted. Hoped this helps!!

(maybe even in a sports goods store by the shoes) your usual department store MIGHT have some, but I'd ask an attendant to tell you the location of where they'd be. or, you can just keep the lace color. I got beads and laced them onto mine, so thats how they can show better!!
I'm doing it on vans and one lace might be pretty short so it's a bit hard to tie because with my vans I was able to tie one shoe and the other shoe I had to wrap the strings around my foot (like how ballerinas have it) but it looks nice
