- Hey guys! Happy Saturday! Today we are doing something a little crazy. LOL. As you can tell by the title. I've been wanting to dye my hair a crazy colour recently and this day turned out to be the best time to do it. Hope you all enjoy me destroy my hair lol! Love you guys!

Her roots are darker than her ends so even though the roots lighten faster her ends would be way lighter if she started with her ends
You're supposed to start with the ends. Actually you're supposed to start midway down. It takes longer to lighten than the roots. Hence the reason her hair came out with super light roots. ;)

@@emmalouise1868 as a trained hairstylist I would’ve recommended that she started with her ends also sectioned all of her hair starting with the bottom THIN layers moving up and she couldve honestly just put the bleach on her ends and her roots at the same time since yes her ends were lighter but it is always better to have your ends lighter anyways for a better more natural looking outcome :)

Be careful listening to the employees at Sally's they are not professionals at all. I am licensed and she told me how to do a color all wrong and I didn't even ask her. If you want lighter than what you had, you need a highter developer. 10 only lifts 1 level. 20 2 leveles and so on.

i’m not even a professional and i know that you need 20 or 30 volume developer when dying/bleaching ur hair
It depends on the hair color you have, the color you want to dye your hair, if you already have bleached hair, how damaged your hair is, etc
I agree with Nikki G. Her mids were WAY too dark for 10vol, which is prob why they didn't lighten like her roots (which were helped by the heat from her scalp). Its tricky DIY-ing, but if she had started with 20-30vol on her mids, then 10vol on her lightened ends, and at the end hit her roots w/ 20vol, the blond would be more even all over. BUT, it is SO hard to bleach balayaged hair at home, so I applaud her ballsy-ness! 👏😁
Wait so I'm trying to dye my underneath brown hair back to blonde, so I would use a 30 developer and start at ends first and how long to let sit on? Then do the roots with a 20 developer? Or stay with 30, and how much more longer to let sit?
If you ever decide to bleach your hair again use a twenty volume. Cover the roots last(body heat makes the color lift faster) and but a shower cap or plastic wrap around your head. Once the bleach dries it stops working.

My hair didn't dry at all, it was even dripping.. I don't know why? I have a lot of hair it took me so long to bleach one side by the time I got to the other 40min had passed. When do we start counting the time we leave it on the hair? When we put it all over our head? That would mean 40 min it took me to apply plus another 45? I don't know 🤷 help plz

Girllll, please. Not crazy at all! I've bleached my hair and colored it purple and using color remover, I've changed it blue and red. Your hair looks good!
I love the colour! I used to have a red to purple ombré and I loved it. If you want the colour to last longer you can purchase coloured conditioner that will re-pigment your hair every time you wash it. I live in Montreal so I don't know if they have the same brand in Ontario, bought you can pick it up at Shoppers and the brand is called Ice Cream.
I love your hair! I know the lady at SAlly's said to have your hair be damp when you apply arctic fox, but I find my hair fades faster when I did that in the past. Of course, your experience may be different, but if you find it fades fast, that may be why. I love arctic fox, I've dyed my hair orange and then I did green as well, I was thinking purple next for me. I have light brown hair so I don't have to bleach my hair for the darker colors to show up, but I want lighter colors in the future so hopefully, I'll brave up, and bleach my hair.
Love your purple hair. I'd love to do it, but I'm not allowed. I work as a receptionist in a big city hotel and can't wear unnatural hair colours. I also do my hair at home though and here is a little tip. Rub some moisturiser on your forehead, ears and neck and let it be night cream or something a bit greasier cause that will help with taking down the hair paint easier later. Works every time. I like to put some heavy baby cream. And it won't harm you in any way.

I have magenta hai right now. It was a lot more vibrant, but I purposefully washed it out a bit to give me a nice, subtle, pastel pink/ purple color.
Also your in my top 3 favorite CZcams channel/planner/vlogger and purple is my favorite color.

Does it not turn to green? I'm planning to dye my hair purple after bleaching it but my bleached hair is more on the orangey tone. And the toner I used barely helped.
Lol how is that lady working at Sally’s?? Not once in dyeing my hair video someone added shampoo!! You’re supposed to add conditioner and you shouldn’t start at your roots~
You can add shampoo to the bleach to help it lather and to weaken the developer some. Its called a soap cap/ bleach wash and it is very much a thing even in the professional world.
Dayyyuuummm your local Sally's is stocked to heaven.. my local one never has anything and everything is way too expensive when you can get it cheap on Amazon!

Any advice (from someone who's actually used it themselves or on someone else) on 'lightener' (as opposed to bleach)?? I have dark brown hair that I've been dying a dark purple/brown color for years. I've decided id like to do a bright, bright purple & I'm aware if I want this effect I need to lighten my hair, but I've never bleached or gone lighter before & I'm hella nervous!! A lady at Sally's suggested instead of bleaching that I use a 'lightener'. Specifically 'Salon Care Creame Lightener'. ???

Did you know you can use arctic fox on dark hair as well. On the website, purple rain can be used on dark hair. And at Sallys you can buy this stuff that can take dye off of your skin. I don't remember what it's called but I've used it EVERY TIME I dye my hair cause I make a mess lol
I would recommend trying overtone. Its color dye for brown hair so we do not need to bleach.

Had purple hair took me 2 times to bleach my hair hair to go purple till I fried it but now healthy and I bleached it again i'm going pink and purple ombre for something new

Wow! You honestly could’ve gotten the same look like how I do with the purple shampoo. I had previously done highlights so I just shampoo my hair with this stuff (I’ll IG message you with it) and it stays vibrant for 2-3 weeks but I had it in for 2 months and it ended up turning a pretty pink color too

Hey if you want to get rid of your wood color you can always use baking soda we’re heading shoulders and a little bit of dish soap and mix it up in a cup and put it in your hair and let it sit in there for 15 minutes and after that wash it off and your color would be off and it would just be like the blonde but you were not ruin your hair from the bleach

I had good results with the brand Elumen for purple hair. It's only provided through salons I think (I know EnviroTrends does it) and it's pretty pricey, but it's high-quality colour that really doesn't fade.
i dyed it purple my first time by a professional. 2nd time my aunt dyed my hair red. third time which was 3 days ago i dyed my own hair dark brownish red looks black in the shade tho and i’m not complaining. i wanted to let my hair grow out in my natural color so i kinda just chose that color, but now i think i’m just going to mess up my hair. meaning dying it whatever and whenever i feel like it with my mommas permission ofc. without bleach tho

You probably didn't even need the bleach. You likely could've used the color and a higher developer (that's what I did recently when i dyed my hair super bright red). I have medium/dark brown hair as well and it worked perfectly and didn't ruin my hair. Faded back to reddish brown. For clean up, whitening toothpaste can help remove color from your hands and counter. Love the color!! Wish my work didn't have strict rules about natural colors!
if you want a vibrant purple you do need to have lighter hair, which means a higher developer for higher lift (lift is lightening). and always be careful when bleaching on regrowth (roots) because you can get something called banding which is your now orange (and not purple) roots that don’t match or blend with the top of your balayage. and as someone else said, always get double than what you think you need, we have all run out of bleach before and it’s the worst haha
i definitely would’ve bleached it one more if i was using 10 but if u have any kind of brown hair, u should use 20 developer & up

So there's a product called Overtone that is basically conditioner that dyes your hair. It goes over the follicle instead of requiring you to bleach. Might be something worth trying in the future since the bleach was so intense/you don't want to ruin your hair.

i literally bleached my hair for the first time yesterday to get black dye out of my hair and we ran out and we were ALMOST done so i was in the same position as you but i was literally saying the same thing as you (i’m gunna dye it purple so it doesn’t matter anyways) 😂😂

Why do girls keep putting it in wet hair if mine is wet does nothing lol and should have bleached bathed the ends of hair then did root I use blonde brilliance extra strength lifts to a level 9 every time and use sensitive skin 30 developer got to get more bleach for my roots lol 3 more pinks lol I want to try for when I'm done my orange phase lol going pink near my 31 birthday lol witch is feb 2 lol plus hair color remover and so I don't have to do my undercut keep cutting it to a 1 as I did tonight lol

All she needed to do was to bleach the middle parts first ,and then do the roots. She did not need to bleach those ends! They were already light enough for purple. I'm a hairstylist! I'm the colorist at my salon .I've been doing hair as long as Brad Mondo has been alive. The picture I have up with the tan pants and burgundy shirt I was 28. I'm 48 now I have videos of what I look like now. My hair is way different now lol! I'm naturally a dirty blonde,blah lol!
My hair has more of a warm tone and because I didn't bleach it, it has more of a highlight. When my uncle's baby Mom's daughter was dying it, it was champagne at the top. Metallic violet at the bottom. It was secret from Uncle and Grandma (till this day I believe). I don't believe my Dad knows either. My uncle's baby Mom's daughter didn't stain my forearms maybe my face and neck. The only aunt who knew I was dying it was Tía Rosy because Snooki told her to get some hair supplies. Since she dyed her hair blonde. She just said,"Oh, que chido." My Tía Lety said my hair looked purple in the light. I don't remember if she asked if I dyed my hair if she did I would've responded no. But I think I said,"Oh so did show." In Spanish. On January 3rd my Tío Horazzio said I had a nice red color in the sunlight then he realized it was purple. When we went outside I saw the reflection outdoors and it was reddish like champagne. I don't really see the purple though. It was more fuschia I guess. My Tía Lourdes thought my hair was different. However, she thought it was because I dyed my hair blue black or indigo Garnier in August. I take a shower only three times a week with cold water. And I've gone a month without showering. This however, was ended with one cold shower and the rest warm water with a shower cap on. Since, I was on my period.
