- Church of Ireland building. It was commissioned in 1810 by the board of first fruits which had a long standing building programme for the protestant community. It was built on the site of a former medieval church and so the graveyard consists of of mixed internments. The Church, a single cell Gothic-style structure may have originally had a spire on top of the tower but it along with the roof are now gone. The church in use up until 1947 has now fallen into ruin.

Post-nominal letters are letters placed after the name of a person to indicate that the individual holds a position, office, or honour.
An individual may use several different sets of post-nominal letters. Honours are listed first in descending order of precedence, followed by degrees and memberships of learned societies in ascending order.
Some obsolete positions are not listed unless recipients who continue to use the post-nominals even after the order becomes obsolete are still living. seems to be educational Sue xxx. clever man.
Thanks once again Tom, I've pinned your comment ❤
I can't believe you went in there. You are one brave lady. I'm so glad you had someone with you especially when you said you had a headache. ❤
It was gone a few moments after coming out, didn't like it at all, very strange now, thank you ❤
What beautiful old. Stone's that cemetery has. The view is spectacular.
Thanks Rita ❤️
@@RobertCox-zt1bj I know that I'm more afraid of spiders and other creepy crawlies. Plus I'm a bit claustrophobic.
I love your Irish brogue!
Thanks Chad ❤
I love the Celtic crosses. There are so many beautiful patterns carved on them.
I just about choked when you went in the crypt. It gave me the heebie jeebies. I would have gone in for about 10 seconds then run out like a crazy woman. That was creepy. Thanks for doing that.
Haha I did feel funny in there ❤
Like 14 sue I could only watch up to the 12th minute as I'm up a 6am I will definitely catch the rest off the footage on break tomorrow goodnight and god bless
Thanks Fran early mornings are tough especially on a Saturday, hope all good, God Bless ❤
You are one brave lady. Glad to see you're not alone.
Thanks Marge ❤️
Sue, you are an EXTREMELY brave lady to have gone into that crypt!! I would've been terrified of tripping over something and falling!!
The cross on the O'Brien family's grave is SOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL!! I love the ornaments carvings!!
Thanks for thinking FABULOUS video, dearest Sue!! XXXX
Thanks Nadia, ahh not brave just curious and determined I think, yes the cross was stunning. Nice area up there ❤
I've been watching your older videos. I just enjoy your videos so much and really appreciate your hard work. And GV's hard work too. Thanks again!!😊😊
I appreciate that!
God Bless You Sue. Looks to me like the remains were removed? Hence it being left open. Please remember your safety is more important than anything. Thanks to your companion. God Love ya ❤️
Thanks Christine, yes remains must have been removed, my helper was able to pull me back out thankfully, I needed to exit fast at that stage ❤
That new headstone is so beautiful. And perfect for Rebecca and her Father. 🙏🌹🌷
Would you believe we got talking to the wife and mother of the family of that first headstone she was from Sweeden told us about the design, her late husband and little girl, her husband designed that beautiful design for their daughter❤
I am so happy to see you go to these old abandoned cemeteries with some one. Especially walking into that crypt. This is a beautiful old cemetery and I’m betting the church was amazing back in its day.
Thanks Carol, oh yes have someone with me, he was able to help me get in and out ❤❤
The babies always broke my heart and just last week I lost a new born great granddaughter Lilliana. So now it’s a bit harder. But I still enjoy visiting all these forgotten souls.
I'm so so sorry to hear that, my heart breaks for you all 💔
Thank you.
This is a special place. I have found it twice while exploring , once alone and once with my musician wife. One special smaller stone towards the road side, set on an angle, had an amazing inscription...It told how the husband and wife, were local musicians their whole life. Then asked "Did you get what you wanted from life" then answered " Yes, I was loved"...I have a picture of that one. Sounds like they knew what was really important...As always, nice job...
Ahhh that is beautiful 😍 ❤
Wow! Well done Sue, a very enclosed space like that can have a surprising inpact. Brave Lady that's for sure. The Church was very beautiful and the graveyard has been really cleaned up. Thank you so much, that was interesting with the Scottish folk obviously resettled in Ireland and I do love all this history. Bless you and stay safe 💕🇦🇺
Thanks Liz yes some very nice history there and lovely stone too, glad I've completed that now ❤
You’re a better person than I! I wouldn’t have been that brave😳
Oh I'm determined not sure about brave lol but it's one of my list now ❤
So many so young😢 beautiful that prople care to clean and clear so much. Thanx as always❤😊❤😊
So nice of you
Hope your headache as gone Sue and thank you for another excellent upload as always. 🙋♀️🌷
Yes it went once I was out, very weird feeling ❤
Fearless Sue your new name this was awesome! The stories these people could tell us today would be a inspiration. Thank You Sue!
Great history here, I really wanted to go inside, another off the list ❤
@@SerenitySueGraveyards or I call Fearless Sue well looking forward to it.
Wow that was so interesting, thank for tee taking us along, I'm going to be binge watching..so excited, love this
Thanks Colleen, I appreciate it ❤❤
Hope you're ok Sue, I would have needed a much bigger entrance because I would have felt trapped in there. Some very old headstones 1500's amazing. Loved the cemetery and church. Thank you ❤ God Bless
Thanks NANA D❤ yes I was eager to go in but twice as eager to leave 😅
Well done. I must admit I couldn't have resisted going in. It must be very musty inside.
.
No smell, just felt weird but glad I did it, I do remember everyone wanting me to go in ❤🤣
Well done, Sue for having the courage to go in👏Some really nice headstones. Have a great weekend! 😊
Thanks Sinead, curiosity gets the better of me sometimes, glad it's done ❤
Very good. I also have been fascinated all my life with cemeteries, headstone and such. Love your work. Please keep it going.
Thanks Steve, glad you enjoy it like I do ❤
As always.... Fascinating!!! Thank you Sue!!!!
Thanks Randy x
Great video!!! Sue, you are one brave lady! So glad you didn’t get hurt 💜💜
Thanks Doris ❤
It was really brave of you to go in there hope you were ok afterwards Sue the same thing happened to me when I went into an abandoned church, stay safe .x
Yes I'm good now, feeling left once I was out, never felt it before, just curious I suppose ❤ God Bless
Hi Sue! I admire your ability to keep the camera steady regardless of how uneven the ground is. I have a hard enough time keeping it still when I'm standing on concrete. I think that recessed area at the rear of the church may have led to a remaining portion of the original building. By going into that crypt you showed your nerves to be as steady as your camera technique even though I'm sure that if there was anything in there it's long since been removed. 🇦🇺🇮🇪
Thanks very much, the gimble is amazing for work like this, couldn't use it at first now I depend on it, yes long removed now but I wanted to see inside and then I wanted to leave fast 😯🤣
@@SerenitySueGraveyards I don't blame you for just getting the pictures and running. The skull and crossbones on the slab near the entrance wouldn't have helped much with the ambience. I believe it was a common motif on 18th century headstones.
Glad you came back here to see the things we missed the first time especially the crypt awesome
Thanks so much
Thanks for the video ... always amazing ...
Cheers William
Another fascinating video. I love your commitment to your subject and the appealing presentation of your work. It is always sad to see an abandoned church of any denomination. I always see them as a metaphor for the society we now live in. I must get over to Ireland . You make it sound so interesting.
Thank you I appreciate it ❤❤
Wow!!! Sue, you are one brave lady!!!!
The stones are so beautiful .... let's just stay above ground 😓😓😓.
Thank you for sharing and God bless you and yours.
Thanks Nancy, I'm determined not sure about brave lol needed to leave there fast ❤God Bless
Another great video, the vault was interesting. Myfriends in rural Georgia USA usually take a torch it is a great idea, help a lot. God Bless you too Sue
Oh the torch is a fantastic idea, I always have one in the car now ❤
That's a lovely old graveyard but so sad to see the empty crypt. It reminds me of a visit over 30 years ago to St. Flannan's cathedral in Killaloe on the shores of Lough Derg. While exploring the churchyard I came upon an crypt which had been broken open and bones scattered in the grass outside it. There were also a few empty beer bottles lying there. I reported it to one of the clergy but to this day it still outrages me to think that some people would desecrate the graves of people who were once alive and loved.
No way, oh my, that's is just awful, how could anyone do thar, makes me sick ❤❤
@@SerenitySueGraveyards I've never forgotten it. Graves should be respected and cared for. Every time I visit the resting places of family and friends in Deansgrange cemetery here in Dublin, I always bring gardening tools to tidy a couple of other graves that seem to have been forgotten over the years. Perhaps there is nobody still alive to remember them so I do it for them. It always gives me such a nice feeling inside to have done it.
Well done, I don't get much time to do that wish I had while I go around, I'd love to have the time and money to fix up the really over grown ones, maybe someday and I've a few in mind, yes they too lived, loved and worked had families etc, I've a really over grown one up tonight on my premier, it's for 10pm Irish time I think you'll enjoy it, we spent hours up there trying to clear lots of them 1700's with some amazing designs on them, I'll be in the chat if your available to watch ❤❤ oh and yes it feels amazing to be able to do what you do, you will be rewarded in heaven, Gone but not forgotten, that's why I love documenting the older graves
@@SerenitySueGraveyards I'll try and look in tonight as I'm only up the road in Dublin lol. During the summer a woman rang in to Liveline about the disgraceful state of some Dublin graveyards due to prolific growth of a weed called Mare's Tail absolutely swamping graves and no sign of the local authorities doing anything to suppress it. One caller mentioned that the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Council had plans to set up a society of friends of Deansgrange cemetery whereby people could volunteer to take care of graves. It's a brilliant idea but of course to date nothing has happened. I'd happily volunteer. By the way, I was led to your CZcams channel from a comment you made on the marvellous Faces of the Forgotten channel. Yours is equally fascinating especially as it's about our own past. So I was delighted to subscribe. You're doing a brilliant job.
Ron has been a great friend and continues to support me, he often gives me a shout out, he's a gentleman, wish I had his brilliant brain to remember such stories, I can't remember yesterday haha nevermind anything else 🤣🤣🙊 don't forget to spread the word of my channel, I'd love to have a few more Irish subs

God Bless Frank ❤
Awesome video.. so glad you had someone with you going in there 😎

I've been on a Sue and Irish Eye's binge watch over the past few days. I keep thinking of Ireland, (being of Irish, Scottish and English with a sprinkle of Cherokee and Shawnee lineage) Ireland most certainly has a special place in I and my spouse's hearts. Well, I started thinking back to my grandmother once burning peat or turf from Ireland that her sister gave her as incense after a funeral and it got thinking about that. I'm not sure if that is an actual "Irish thing" or one that American's started to recall the land of their ancestors but I went looking and I actually found some for sale. It has been ordered and the next time I sit down to watch I'll be burning Irish turf from Co. Offaly whilst listing to your voices. I can't wait! I thank you for all you do and all of your hard work. I also thank you for helping me recall my dear old grandmother who has been gone for 23yrs now. Be blessed!
Ahh yes we still burn the turf here although not as much, there's a few bogs left where they get the peat from ❤
Fascinating history! Subscribed within a few minutes. Graveyards have always been spooky to me so watching them online let's me enjoy them and feel safe from... whatever may be lurking there🥺
You'll be safe here, I promise but we do find remains sometimes and coffins, so if scared watch behind your pillow...thanks so much for subscribing you won't be disappointed, plus we have such a fantastic group here ❤❤❤
I hope you’re feeling better Sue! Very courageous of you to show us the inside.

Wonderful images! Like from Palma de Mallorca 👍 Rela
Thank you ❤❤
What a difference a lawnmower makes to this place..The large casket in the church certainly had some age as well as the one with the Skull and crossbones on.As that is a common symbol for poison not just for pirates. It makes you wonder if the poor woman was either poisonous ,possibly her body was toxic by the cause of death ,or she could have been highly contagious. It’s so rare to see that sign in a graveyard. It was put on the stone probably as a warning .Don’t forget grave robbers were around then.Very interesting non the less. The unused old mausoleum ..You was very brave going in there. Not many would ..Well done.I don’t think the previous inhabitants would have worried about the cold or the about how closed in it felt…But brave You.There are some really lovely headstones in this Churchyard .I am pleased you went back and we got a better look..Thank you for all the great adventures..Love n Light 🥰
God Bless Christine
Another good one. I loved the scull and cross bones headstone. Would love to delve into the history of that. 1727. Amazing. And in that cript it was really scary. I felt the eerieness too. Who would seriously sit and drink beer in it. Crazy.
Very strange feeling in there ❤❤
Hi Sue :) Thank you for the lovely tour of this graveyard :) I appreciate your giving us the look at the crypt but would rather you didn't if it is going to affect your health and safety

Wow. Very interesting old church and cemetery. The crypt did look creepy and may have been used for temporary burial?? Thank you Sue for braving the inside!
Thanks Randy, I pinned Tommythecats opinion that it may have held the dead until the ground was ready, that sounds right to me, certainly looks like that way, great to get inside finally ❤
Very dedicated to your craft...😐. Very brave lady🤗. Very detailed, the graves have a lot of names on them...interesting. 🤭 Appreciate your work.
Skull and cross bones on a grave that long ago is a YIKES! 😳
Thanks Olga, I used to think skulls and cross bones were pirate related but it seems to be a reflection on our own mortality ❤❤
Thanks Olga ❤
That fuzzy feeling in your head, I've often gotten that when around places where dead bodies have been like mausoleums, I got it in st michans church every time I went!
Oh really, I was recently in st michans but felt nothing, ❤❤
I love the crosses, so beautiful.
Yes they are a work of art ❤
Grange house? There’s an 18th century manor house called Grange manor in Kilkenny. Was that the former home of the occupant of that one grave? I often google interesting stones and sometimes find old obituaries that list their residence. Driving by those old homes and knowing who lived there is so neat. Your videos are great! I’m hooked! I love exploring Irish cemeteries vicariously through you!
Thanks a million, I'm not sure about Grange Manor but it sounds like you might be right 🤔 ❤️
Good to see they are removing dangerous trees before they fall. It does seem like you were uncomfortable being in that mausoleum. The only thing better than going in there is getting out! Thanks,Sue.
Cheers Hans, ye I'm glad I did it but yup definitely wanted to get out fast

That open, empty crypt was a wee bit scary! It seemed you had someone with you, or it looked that way. I held my breath until you got out of there. I wouldn't be able to stay very long there. One thing I thought of when you said headache and youbfelt foggy was the possibility of gases. Sometimes gases seep from the ground and get trapped inside a structure. There is really no way for the air to ventilate in there.
I am glad you didn't stay and got out of there when you did. But I so admire your determination. I also was very curious about what it was like inside.
Cheers Ben, I was grand a minute or so after getting out, very strange feeling I don't think I'm claustrophobic but maybe that, air seemed grand in there but who knows ❤

Thank you Sue for going into the crypt and showing us all. I know you don't believe, but I believe that the souls that were put to rest in there are trying to protect it hence your headache
Oh I believe in paranormal stuff I've had my own experiences I just at the time didn't feel like it was paranormal more claustrophobic or lack of air, maybe it was, I can't describe the feeling hot yet inside was cold, like pins and needles in my head and just feeling yuk and the headache too, very strange alright
You are a very brave girl going into that old creipt
Oh I didn't feel brave just a very curious lass ❤
Beautiful
Thanks Tammy
Wow Sue you went in. I hope your feeling ok
I'm fine thank you, the feeling left me once I was outside again ❤
This was all very interesting and historic! The crypt, though, is creepy. That you got a headache and did not feel good in there is really spooky!! Thank you and have a nice weekend!
I didn't feel creeper out just felt really strange in there, lovely place glad it's done now ❤
Oh my Sue. Please don’t go into anymore of these underground crypts. It is so dangerous. I was a nurse for a company where our workers often had to go below ground or otherwise confined spaces. They were required to take incredible precautions. You just don’t ever know. I enjoy your channel very much. Just want you to be safe. ♥️☘️
Thank you so much for your kindness, my curiosity takes the better of me sometimes, I do appreciate it ❤️❤️
Perhaps there was bad air inside that crypt. There is a mausoleum at Mountshannon House that originally served as a dairy cooling building. It may be worth checking out.
Sue i want to see more underground crypts like the really spooky ones there heaps all over Europe plz do the haunted dammed crypts & coffins
Thanks CT if you go through my videos I have a good few mausoleums with coffins and some exposed bodies too❤
Beautiful old graveyard. It looks like someone, or a group of people are trying to keep it up. It would be nice
if those headstones could be carefully, properly cleaned and straightened. That crypt you went
into, was interesting. It looks like whatever remains were in it were
removed long ago, which may be why it has not been sealed up. I see someone had a party in it, probably some local kids. Thank you very much for another great video Sue.
Be careful out there.
P.S. Or am I mistaken, and there
were remains in that crypt?
No remains in this crypt at all unless they were moved?
@@SerenitySueGraveyards Thank you very much for taking the time to get
back to me. Did you see any inscription on that crypt, anything
that might indicate someone had
been interred in it at some time?
Wudnt it be so interesting if someone from the past could say what they died off and what their lives were like.such an enjoyable walk 🇮🇪
Thanks Mary ❤️
It looks like tombs that sunk down in the ground. Maybe the stand is very soft or there is something else going on with the ground.❤❤❤
Yes, that's definitely a possibility
i love the skull and crossbones, was popular once due to our mortality xxx
I love them too, kinda eerie to come across one ❤
Brave! I wouldn’t have gone in!
I'm too curious for my own good ❤
Did you have a uneasy feeling in this cemetery? Watching it gave me uneasy feeling.
No it was really OK until just before I went inside, then horrible in the crypt ❤
I’ve been here!!
Hi Donna
At 18:50 the large stone looks to have a cross with cones or something at the ends.
Yes it's very unusual ❤
Wow
❤❤
I wonder if the church seen your live vlog and decided to clear the bushes and trees
Mmm I wonder 🤔
That was scary you were brave
yes, you’d never catch me in a crypt such as that. Since you did give us a great view of the inside and we saw no coffins, now I’m just guessing that the wall down the centre as well as the two ledges left and right suggests that the coffins were laid crossways to the door, No coffins suggests that if anyone was interred there, they were moved somewhere else, if anyone was there. I’m guessing not, as there is no evidence of some sort of a barricade ( metal door or barred gate ) in the entrance.
Thanks Larry, we think it may have been a place that held the bodies until they could dig the grave x
@Serenity Sue Sounds about right.
The dead can’t hurt us. The living can and will.
I agree
Surprised you didn't take a rest after coming out
No time to rest when shooting a video unfortunately
by the way..if you ever go into a crypt again take coffee grounds with you, it was prob mold or fungus you inhaled that got to your head...sniffing coffee grounds clear your nasal passages, I take coffee packs with me to every cemetery or old building I go to
Oh thanks, gosh never thought of that, it was definitely a weird sensation ❤❤
Aaaawww fresh air and no ghosts
Nothing like getting in to take a look, even better getting out lol ❤
A lot of people died young. I wonder if tuberculosis was a cause of some. Going through coroner records where my family was from most people died of that early 1900s.
Yes, definitely disease its Terrible
I love all your videos, next time you need a brush and gloves so that you can brush the dirt and can read clearly the tomb stone.
I have them, I just forget them lol thanks Arleen appreciate it ❤❤
🥰🥰😘
🥰🥰🥰
They were all young bless them
So sad
Yes , Thinking about the young that perished long ago , some accidental but most probably from virus or disease . Modern medicine saves much more of us now. Can’t imagine losing a child back then at such a young age. Wonder how they dealt with it? Sue , You live in an old Country where 1000 years you call old . Here in the States anything over 200 is ancient. You have picked an interesting field to work in . I surely believe in the paranormal. I believe anything is possible even though sometimes unexplainable. The important issue is staying safe while you work. If the ground is soft or caving in , avoid walking on it . As a child in Rumney, NH in the States I was taking a shortcut home one evening across a neighbor’s property and I knew I was close to their family plot when all of a sudden my leg went thigh deep beside a marker . Scared the #%*¥£ out of me! Take care Sue. I enjoy your episodes.Paul- St Petersburg, Fl
Yes we are so very lucky I've found headstone reading 1622, lots from the 1700s. I believe in all things paranormal too, I've had my very own experiences too. Our souls live on I believe..oh wow now that would scare me too 😨😨
@@SerenitySueGraveyards Thank you Sue . Stay safe. I’ve had a few experiences myself .

Goodness when we went inside just looking around not really seeing anything although they must be either side behind walls , my heart is going ten to the dozen , goodness , AE here I go , only kidding
I will not go back in there and that's for sure, spooky ❤
Never amazes me why people find it okay to party in cemeteries. Wonder how many unwanted guests they dragged home with them.
It's so very strange, hopefully they get haunted for doing so!!
Happens here in the states too
It's terrible 😞
You're braver than I would be
More a healthy curiosity ❤❤ 🙃
The state needs to maintain these graveyards that is over 100 years old visit to the court house can change this
In Ireland it's completely different I think a court would not cate x
I can see a bit BETTER with the torch u have today on the headstones
