Hi friends, This is the oldest Sri Lankan Zoo in Dehiwala, Colombo. We both have local and foreign animals such as lions and tigers. Sri Lankan common local animals are the leopards, elephants and sloth bears. I wish you to visit many places in Sri Lankan including wild life parks and museum
As a local here in sri lanka my monthly salary is roughly around 100$ so that makes a huge difference between western foreigners and us locals. We cannot even afford to stay in a luxury hotel once in our lifetime

Well there are rich sri lankans, who can afford to luxury hotels. And all the western tourists who visiting SL cannot afford luxury hotels.
You forgot the cooler climate of Nuwara Eliya where there are strawberry farms & I believe some blueberries are also grown in season.
You don't need a guide for the zoo, there is enough information given there without someone hurrying you along & expecting a tip. You should have given him the brush off at the start.
We absolutely loved Nuwara Eliya, one of our favourite places!
Yes he definitely hurried us along and we did not ask for it, however in the end it did turn out to be helpful when he gave use the opportunity to feed some animals and get up close to the leopards etc so I guess it worked out ok.
Hi, you are not missing coconut sambal .There is plenty of Srilankan restaurants in London.Go to Tooting Broadway.Jaffna house,and Broadway , Wimbledon.They have strng hoppers with sambal and Hoppers.Try these places.
In Mannar you will see thousands of Wild Flamingo..much brighter than st Zoo..like a pink carpet..You get some in South at Bundala too

to make coconut sambol is very very easy, u buy dessicated coconut from supermarket, mix chopped onions, salt, chilli powder, tomato, lemon juice (or white vinegar)..mix it well ...voila..u can have that with hard toast bread with butter (the chilli will give it the nice n yellow color)..add chopped green chillies if u want extra hot

Sri lankan peoples' avg salary is in month like 200$..it has way different than the 20,000 pound salary and the 200$ salary..so every time dont bark to the local...no one force you to go there..🤧

Whether you think it's ethical or not is also a matter of opinion. I don't consider your point of view very ethical to be honest. Charging tourists 20x more for the same service is extremely unethical and will only lead to fewer tourists visiting the country.@@pasindudissanayaka794

How common is the tourist price vs local price in sri lanka? Is it all over ot certain cities/tourist areas? Not talking abt markets but attractions. Whats a typical mark up?
@@andy57496 it’s pretty much everywhere tbh. They’ll try and get as much money as possible from you and most the time will just make it up on the spot

nop blueberries not really a thing here. u can buy frozen ones from some supermarkets i guess. and its expensive...so a normal average person here probably cant afford to eat blueberries

To all forigners i tell you guys its not worth a visit to the zoo in srilanka i be a local im telling you all do not go to the zoo . To any one who want to go do not go even the locals do not go there much . All old animals n as you say way more money to the tourist 👍😀

We need to attract wealthy tourists who don't cry for just 15 USD.
If you charge tourists a 20x higher price for everything you’re not going to attract any tourists let alone wealthy ones 😂
In the U.K. where I guess he is from they are not allowed to raise the price for tourists no matter how wealthy they are, the pricing is fair for everyone there, and most other countries. So tourists have the right to be annoyed if they are paying 10-20x the price for the same services. It’s not fair
