We definitely need that second movie
Then when we get to the year in which this movie takes place, they will announce the sequel... maybe😄
The sequel is already announced
@@batman886No it hasn’t been officially announced but it might happen due to the success of Avatar 2 The Way Of Water.
Dont worry, its coming out in 2052
Agreed
Rosa Salazar is such an underrated actress
This is by far the most accurate translation of a manga comic into live action I have ever seen. I know the comics by heart and some of the battles were basically recreated frame-for-frame. So sad it flopped when it came out, we'll probably never get those sequels.
The sequel is happening. Robert Rodriguez said they're in talks, it's just that James Cameron has been committed to doing Avatar sequels since forever and that's what's been holding them back more than anything.
@@TigerNightmare that's good to hear
Zalem has actually a lot of parallels with Jerusalem 😊
Alita has always been a passion of Cameron to make into live action for twenty five years. I do not think he cares whether he breaks even, loses a bit, or makes a ton. He's still going to do it. He may have to release a few movies about blue skinned aliens in between to keep the boat afloat, and has said that the original Avatar is what gave him the money and SFX tech and experience to make Alita, but he is definitely going to make another. Besides, he owns the studio. No stupid investors to convince.
I respect your opinion, but have to go with Speed Racer
Alita splicing her own tear in half is up there with the most creative and best executed VFX shots of all time
Just about everyone is a little surprised/taken aback by Alita's eyes at the beginning. And then, ten minutes or so in, it's no longer a thing. It's amazing.
the original concept, and i remember some original trailers her eyes were much bigger, but they shrunk them down some because no one could relate or take serious the original concept.
@@eolsunder I recall reverse, that eyes got bit bigger and/or iris was made bigger.
yea you really get used to it fast
27:39 This scene is particularly important, and I love how they did it so it's extremely subtle. Since the body is that of an URM (United Republic of Mars) Beserker, which as Ido said is one of the most powerful battle weapons ever made (hence the original manga and anime title, Battle Angel: Alita), it is strong enough to literally kill with barely a thought. Literally, she could flick someone in the forehead and kill them from breaking their skull and sending the shard blasting through the grey matter.
But the first thing Alita does? She does a little dance, balances delicately on one finger, and then, most importantly, lays gently against Ido's shoulder. She's showing him in the most significant and important way that she's 110% in control of the body.
Don't forget the body reconfigured itself in her image of herself - becoming more feminine in appearance
Yeah in the manga, it's called Berserker body because not everyone can control that body, that thing is somewhat alive on it's own, they'll literally turn into somekind of berserker monster
Imagine being a high schooler watching a subtitled anime in 1993. It's brutal, bloody, and also the best cyberpunk themed visual media you've ever seen (Though a few years later when Ghost in the Shell comes out it gives it stiff competition). Then shortly after Titanic comes out, when interviewers are asking James Cameron what his next project is, he mentions that he has bought the live-action movie rights to that anime and its source manga. But he doesn't feel that filmmaking technology is up to the challenge yet. So he's going to work on a personal project instead as practice. Years later, you find out that warm-up project meant to develop new film technologies was Avatar. But then he gets locked into making Avatar sequels and hands the film off to another competent director. And on opening night, as the movie starts playing, you see that not only is it going to be the same story, many scenes are shot-for-shot remakes of that OVA you watched so long ago. There's a scene where a dog walks onto frame. You squeeze your spouse's hand hard in horror because you know just how doomed that dog is.
Same with me, although I stumbled onto the Ghost in the Shell manga first, and picked up Alita when I finished it, looking for something else like it. That ova was severe, and I spent the better part of a decade waiting for this movie to happen.
Every time she called herself an “insignificant girl’” I was reminded of the anime. The chorus of the ending theme was “Should I fail you, I’m just an insignificant girl.”
The movie is very close to the anime,
One thing I find curious is that it's apparently canon that Mc Teague saved the little dog by turning it into a cyborg. They even made a ten second long clip of the dog afterwards, which appears to have been released on one twitter page and more or less nowhere else. It's cute, but a surprising amount of effort for a rather obscure gesture. I can only imagine somebody on the production team just really didn't want to kill it.
I don´t think any sane person wants a little dog to die like that.
Her eyes are large because James Cameron wanted to be true to the way she looked in the original manga. He wanted her to eyes to have the same expressiveness. I think it's actually a boon because it gives a solid reminder to the audience that she is more than human.
Well she is a Martian, and they all have large eyes... pitty they didnt give her, her octopus lips.
All the people (not you) who seem to think her eyes are to look like an anime or manga girl need to understand even in the manga her eyes were overly large. What i find funny is, her eyes arent really THAT large, ive seen people in real life with eyes that are particularly large, and yeah its a little odd but not sure why people have issues with it.
I've watched this movie more times than I can count... It was so incredibly well done. We seriously need a second movie.
I saw this movie 3 times in the theaters cause I was so captivated by it. Absolute gem.
Congratulations for actually knowing this film existed while it was in theaters.
It was so poorly marketed the majority of the world found out about it on Netflix years later.
I likely would have seen it multiple times in theaters too, if I had known that it existed.
So they did not market the film.
They restricted showings due to lack of interest.
Then they cancelled the sequel due to poor box office.
Then it blows up in streaming.
But now most of the cast is too old to do a proper sequel. So any sequel will be a remake with new actors instead of a contiguous follow.
Yes, 3 times watching this amazing movie in a theater 😊🤙. We need a second movie for sure.
So did I, because I’d spent the better part of a decade waiting for it to happen.
27:37 she was definitely saying she was “more developed”. Her body changed to what age her brain is saying or the body is unisex and changes to fit whatever head is attached to it. I wish they did more of these but this was the only one they did. I’d even love a prequel that showed here 300 years earlier in that war.
Yes, Nova looks like a mad scientist from the 90s, because that's exactly what he is. The original comic ran from 1990-1995. The movie is a highly compressed version of the first quarter or so of the that. There have also been sequels, one of which is still running which, among other things, is showing us Alita's childhood on Mars, her parentage, how she became a cyborg, and how she became a Germanic Space Ninja.
This movie is an underrated gem and deserves a sequel.
This is the best US produced movie based on a manga I've ever seen.
Edit: This film is based mostly on the first volume of the original manga. There are 7 or 8 volumes. Then there's a sequel series about the Mars wars. There's also a spinoff manga called Ashen Victor that focuses soley on the motorball aspect of that world.
Literally one of the only manga based Hollywood movies to not be universally hated, which is a great feat in of itself!
I know All You Need Is Kill is not a manga, but Edge of Tomorrow is pretty good and doesn't have the same pacing issues this movie has. So I'm not so sure about this one being the best, but Alita very good.
@@thisstuffisdumb "All you Need is Kill" IS a Manga so I don't get what you're saying here. Like many Mangas and Animes it's based on a "light novel". The original was written by Hiroshi Sakurazaka 2004 and later adapted to a manga 2014 by Takeshi Obata. The movie with Tom Cruise was ok action, but as always Hollywood have to change stuff so the ending is different. If you compare these two movies I think Alita wins, it's more true to the original story and better in more ways than Edge of Tomorrow.
It's 9 volumes, and the movie covers ~3 of 'em.
Everyone please sign the petition to get the 2nd movie made! You nailed it V, so underrated
Robert Rodriguez and James Cameron are already looking into it.
@@Rummyson They are the dream team. Two brilliant filmmakers.

If there’s anyone who can do it, it would be Cameron. He has cash to spare to do passion projects haha. I think it did barely break even though. Not bad considering all the flops we’ve been having lately.
It's already in the works. It's not even difficult to find information about it. Cameron has held onto the rights for Alita/Gunnm for decades knowing that to do it right he needed to do it carefully. Avatar was made in part to push the tech far enough for Alita to be possible and to fund the project. The Way of Water is the foundation funding for Fallen Angel.
Alita was so much better than I hoped for. I've been waiting on a sequel and found out a few weeks ago that it's in development. So, fingers crossed.
I remember when my dad and i watched this for the first time. The movie was still fresh in theaters and we went to watch it in an imax theater, but he and i were the only ones there at the showing. So many people in America left it behind, while peoole of other nations rose up to watch it.
Finally, someone did Alita. This is one of my favorite movies EVER!!!Thank you so very much!!!* 👍😄👍
I've been thinking now, what if Alita fought either the 2 daughters of Thanos, Gamora OR Nebula?
Will Alita win over both of them?
100% agree with this. LOVED this movie. That there has been recent talk about a sequel is so heartening to hear!
It was such a great character detail that the first thing Alita does when getting the new Berserker body is she does ballet.
'Alita: Battle Angel' is my second-favorite movie of ALL time. I have loved the manga since I first found it back in 1995. Was so happy when it was announced that *James Cameron* purchased the movie rights. I waited 20+ years after that to finally see Alita in live action. I was NOT disappointed!
Let us join the crowd at the end of this film -- ALITA! ALITA! ALITA! ALITA! ALITA! ALITA!

Here's a little trivia from the manga. On overcast days, her body can build up static charge, and Hugo gets a shock when he kisses her. LOL
Loved the react. Love Alita!
Dunno how well it did, but I thought was fun and well done. Great character, flawless CGI and cool story. Looking forward to a sequel.
I love this movie.....very underrated.
I was skeptical about this movie at first, then heard someone talk really good about it, bought it and then I was hooked harder than any fish has even been hooked before! Absolutely love this movie!
Many have been wanting, and waiting for, more for quite a while. Rumors and bits of news have been teasing us for years now. The story is big. So much could be done. I'm excited to see what you think of this "GEM!!!" :) Here we go!
I actually didn't expect them to do Hugo's climb in the first movie. As a fan of the manga and OVA I knew the scene was coming. And when I first watched the movie, I was just like, "Yeah... Don't get attached... I know what happens in the second one." And then after she kills Vector, and Ido tells her he's climbing. My heart started racing, and I couldn't hold it in. The entire theater just heard me say, "Holy shit! Their doing it NOW!?"
27:40 Impressed Vicky : "Oh! I want to learn how to do that! "
Alita : do the trick on one finger
Vicky : "I can't do that "
So satisfying when reactors finally watch this. I comment Alita under every video of every reaction channel I follow. Welcome to the #AlitaArmy
Alita's only looked as young as she did in the early film because she was put into a body intended for an 11 or 12 year old girl. The Berserker body adjusted her appearance according to her real physical age when she became a cyborg, roughly in her mid-20's.
Also while they made her face and eyes to match her original manga appearance with the big anime eyes, it doesn't take very long for it to stop being jarring and just becomes her face.
Yukito Kishiro, the author is still writing Alita books - the latest Mars Chronicle Vol 9, was published last month. Must have around 40 volumes of all the different stories on my bookshelf!
Thank you for reacting to this epic film. I have yet to find someone who doesn't like it. One little fact that will likely surprise you is that the Director is also a Chocolatier and made the chocolate eaten in this film himself. Probably the only Director on the planet that can boast as much.
8:07 I think this scene provides this _key insight_ into the character of Alita. She _loses_ a game when she's _new_ to it and under _no_ other circumstances. You get the jump on her _once_ and then she _comes_ for you.
Agreed! This one is underrated. Didn’t do well in theaters but has a bigger following now. Some of us still hold out hope for more…
I'm glad you enjoyed Alita: Battle Angel. This movie was years in the making and I knew it wouldn't disappoint. It's a hybrid of the original Manga and the two episode OVA. I recommend both if you're interested in checking them out. I really hope a sequel to this movie comes because we need it.
By far the best manga adaptation for a global audience they played down some of the ridiculous concepts that sometimes makes it hard to lose yourself in the story but kept the hart that makes the genre unique.
The best bar-fight scene in movies! (possibly only second to "From Dusk 'til Dawn)
Hiyao Miyazaki (Studio Ghibli, maker of "Princess Mononoke" and "Spirited Away" among other masterpieces, which you should see) said that anime picked up the huge eyes from early Disney films, which do it to make the characters cute and make sure the audience focuses on the eyes as the center of emotion.
Ed Skrein (Zapan) also in Deadpool, and in early episodes of GoT as the warrior who joins Daenerys (replaced by another actor), and awesome in Maleficent 2. His last day on the set for Alita he was presented from the director with the sword.
He and Keean Johnson (Hugo) played leading characters together in "Midway", also in 2019 (playing real-life historical people, dramatized movie representation)
Rosa Salazar, and James Cameron & Robert Rodriguez are enthusiastic about a sequel, but Disney owns the distribution, and as we saw with "Treasure Planet" (VK should react to this old gem) and "John Carter", they have no problem with letting a good property die. It's been 3+ years, and Cameron might be able to swing it, but with no distribution or marketing from Disney, it won't get made.
Like the anime OVA movie, it obviously compresses several chapters and months of the character's time into a few minutes.
The plot has holes: Why was Chiren so immediately willing to help kill Alita? Just because of the body?
There was a bounty on the one killing those human females. Nova ruled everything and was the most probable buyer for the body parts, so he knew who was killing them, but he also put the bounty on them? And simultaneously protected Grewishka who was running the body parts collecting... Nova was probably just playing chaotic games with other's lives as he loves to do.
If her heart was so valuable and strong, why was it just thrown away? An ancient dangerous enemy just let go into the world to possibly be brought back? But then Nova could not have known that Ido would put her back together -anybody else would have taken the heart and thrown her out.
Uugantuya “Ugi” Otgonbayar (Mongolian, in the US); the real life performer who did the hand-stand scene. Amazingly strong & pretty.

They did such a clever job with motion blur, Alita has these frames where they didn't use any on her but did on her surroundings. You see her perfectly in these frames during high action, like 25:21 When she jumps down, there is blur around her feet but none in her face. It just works really well
It's a crime this movie hadn't the chance to expand the story, the manga that was based on is awesome. Viky this was a great surprise, thanks for give it a chance. Fun fact: the chocolate that Alita ate for the first time was made by the director. Actually the name of Alita is Gally and Hugo's name is Yugo. The only thing missing in the movie is Hugo's motivation to be in zalem, in the manga Yugo/Hugo wants to go there because it was his brother's dream but was murdered with her wife trying to fly there
I LOVE this movie. I HATE that it hasn't received the love that it should.
Super underrated movie. I actually enjoyed it much more then i ever expect. Its fun and actully looks good and is done very well.
James cameron just confirmed in an Forbes interview that 2nd & 3rd part of this movie are going to be produced.
“And on Avatar, I’m working in Wellington and Los Angeles. And on the new Alita: Battle Angel films, I’ll be working in Austin, so it just didn’t make sense for us anymore.”
Btw the movie looks so good because the vfx is done by Weta digital same guys who worked on avatar movies.
Absolutely underrated! It’s kinda corny ngl but easily my favorite movie. Hopefully James Cameron can convince Disney to give it a second chance
I was so happy walking out of the theater opening weekend for this. Was so sad it didn’t do “well enough” for the series to continue.
this needs the sequel(s). Rodriguez says they have the material to create 1-2 more movies. however it's all waiting on the studio.....Disney, since they bought 20th Century Fox. great reaction. knew you would enjoy this one.
I always included this movie in my list of suggestion whenever they ask for suggestions xD glad that more people are picking it up
"What are you dreaming, little angel?"
"Chicken nuggets, clearly."
Me: "Hey! How about a spoiler-alert?"
I saw it 10 times in theaters. Seeing it in 3D nine of those times. Alita was the first CGI character that I 100% believed. Really need that 2nd movie.
During action scenes or in alien environments (like the space ship) she works great. In more mundane places or when surrounded by regular people, I think she still looks weirdly out of place. But that is literally part of her character. She's not even from Earth, after all.
I'm really looking forward to Alita sequels. It's probably my most anticipated movie continuation. However, I fear Alita will get turned into more mainstream trash by becoming like any other franchise.
I’m so glad to see people loving this movie and supporting it and voting for it for you too watch! I can’t wait until the sequels!!
#AlitaArmy
Alita is not an underrated gem. It's a hidden gem. It's a fantastic movie. I agree with the eyes, they were a bit too much the first few minutes but they really work well on her.
Thanks a lot!
Your react to this movie is something I was waiting for so long!
Hope you enjoyed it! (the title of your video say 'yes' to this question)
26:20 "He looks like a villain from the 90's"
Well... considering the manga and anime was made in the 90's, you're pretty spot on!
You really should watch the anime OVA though, its just two episodes but they are amazing. The manga its based on goes on for longer and it gets into some pretty crazy things. the movie did a pretty good job getting fairly close to the anime's story, but with some changes and adding of some things that the manga delved into later on. But yeah the anime is even more violent, they actually show the poor dog being cut-up which was sad. But yeah Alita wiping the blood onto her cheeks is strait from that. In fact you could definitely look up the manga and read that, the story goes deep!
I hope they make a second movie though!
This is honestly the best anime to film adaptation that has ever been done. Underrated indeed!
it was recently confirmed that a sequel is now in active development. Not only that, but both Robert Rodriguez and James Cameron have since sworn a blood oath to get Alita 2 made. No matter how long it takes.
SO happy to see you finally watch this! A sequel is needed. Luckily it seems to be moving forward.
Have you heard anything?
BAA/Gunnm has been my favorite manga since the 90s, I was so hyped they finally made it into a movie and I thought it was brilliant. It's a shame American audiences didn't agree... here's hoping we eventually get a sequel worthy of this masterpiece.
This is such a fun movie with a lot of heart based on a great long running manga. I just wished James Cameron had decided to direct this himself instead of Avatar then we would have had several sequels already.
Cameron literally developed both properties for about a decade starting in the late nineties until technology was advanced enough for him to start filming, at which point he picked Avatar over Alita. Later Robert Rodriguez asked Cameron if he could direct Cameron's script since he was now planning multiple Avatar sequels and would never get around to it anymore.
A quarter of a century in the making, and worth the wait. Ive been waiting for this film since it was announced in the 90's. . .and its finally a reality.
Fantastic movie. It's a shame more reactors don't react to this one. I know the director wants to make more Alita movies, but for some reason they haven't gotten there yet. Really hope they do, though.
Agreed. They did a really stunning job on her CGI. We really need a sequel.
So glad someone has reacted to my favorite movie!!! It is the only movie thatI have seen in the theater more than once. It has so much heart, a strong, courageous female character with a good character arc, a good story, and a strong cast. I wish this movie would be more popular; it wasn't marketed well. I doubt that we will get a sequel despite the having a cult following. Hoping that James Cameron will get to do this with the commercial success of Avatar 2.
Its definitely underrated. I saw it in the budget theater, and really enjoyed it. The cgi and other effects are so good. Even better than the recent flash movie. Lol.
I absolutely love this movie, hope they hurry up with making the sequel.
This movie is my #1 most desired sequel
I love that movie. And the graphic novels. I have volume 1 on my end table right now.
And yes. They need a sequel. Or a few.
Alita was a Japanese anime comic. Spielberg decided to make the film very accurately after the anime. The anime writer was a legend in Japan and the story is well known. Alita has the Anime eyes added by CGI. After a minute you barely even notice they are different. everything about the film was , in typical anime style, shocking, gruesome, charming, and moments of "Right ON!!!"... That martial arts exercise scene before the mirror at 15:50 is an exact replication of a filmed real Bruce Lee exercising. And yes "A girl comes along and"... sigh. It's always a woman. Our kryptonite. :)
well I just adore your description of Alita as "a little cinnamon bun of a person" and definitely agree that a sequel is in order. factually they spend 2 movies worth on effects.
I want an Alita sequel !
You get a thumbs up for knowing the Alita: Battle Angel is a woefully underrated film. I want a trilogy, at least 2 more movies.
Alita was just such a warm funny nice and lovable character there was no shame in wanting her to win.

He didn't go without oxygen the whole time, that was what lady doc was saying "maybe you can" about, and what Zapan was saying "that's a cute trick" about. Lady doc hooked dude's head up to Alita's super-heart to keep it alive until Doc Ido could attach it to a body.
They had bad luck finishing this movie at the same time as "Captain Marvel" when that was marketed as the feminist movie of its time. When this is so much more of a stong woman movie. Loving, caring, badass, intelligent, amazing family organization. This movie is perfect.
Definitely a much better film than I was expecting glad you enjoyed it.
I remember watching this for the first time on an airplane and enjoying it/figuratively kicking myself for not watching it earlier and on a bigger screen to better appreciate the work done on the visual effects. Loved the performances and the art style of this world and characters (particularly the one cowboy bounty hunter with the dogs). Would really like to see a follow up to this made.
I also saw this on an airplane and had the same thought. It got me so interested in the world and I started reading the manga. Great story and loved every minute of it
The cowboy was Jeff Fahey, an actor well known for his cyberpunk movie The Lawnmower Man. A literal TON of the cast have a history of niche films. Some were just cameos, like Casper Van Dien as the drug addicted motorball player that kills Ido's daughter, Greg Berger, a prolific voice actor as the annoying robot head that pays out bounties that Alita destroys, or Rick Lee that was in Ninja Assassin and Fast and the Furious as Johnny Tran. The budget for casting was not skimped on even in secondary and tertiary actors. Even a character, Jashugan in motorball, was played by Jai Courtney. He has a much larger role later in the story, helping Alita defeat a berserk Zapan.
i really loved this movie! So well made! Such a cool design! awesome FX!! i really wish it had been a huge success! i NEED the sequal!
I loved the Manga, the original anime abbreviated though it was. Now this movie is so faithful to the original. But yes, there is a LOT more to the story.
It seems like you've completed a full journey. I've witnessed your progression from your anime days to now, where you're enjoying an adaptation of the Battle Angel: Alita manga. The film brilliantly incorporated elements from the Battle Angel OVA (1993), including the addition of Chiren, an original character not found in the manga. James Cameron, driven by his passion for the project, initially helmed the director's chair but later entrusted Robert Rodriguez due to his commitments to the Avatar franchise.
Yesss let’s go another person reacted to this awesome movie, I’ve been watching you for awhile now and for some reason I never thought you’d react this but I’m glad you did 👍
Fantastic Anime, and fantastic film too. Cameron, Landau, and Rodriguez should make the sequel. Rosa Salazar really fit the role too, she's not blonde but with the large anime eyes and her acting, it really worked and came together nicely.
Definitely. Alita is the best Hollywood adaptation of an anime or manga that I've ever seen
So I've been an enormous superfan of the manga Battle Angel Alita(or "Gunnm" as it's known in Japan) for the last 20+ years. I own all the graphic novels, and seeing this movie in the theater was practically a religious experience for me. I desperately hope they make another one, but even if they do, that would only be the tiniest scratching of the surface of the story of Alita, which has been going for three decades at this point. Yukito Kishiro is the author and artist of Alita, and that man is an insane genius. There are a TON of shots in this movie that are nearly perfect re-creation of panels from the comics, and that makes me SO happy. Loved your reaction to the movie, and if you ever want to dive deep into this world, the mangas are always there and they are fucking legendary!!!

In July the same year, James Cameron reiterated that he is working on more than one sequel...
Zalem (Salem) was the bottom level of a space elevator. There is another city at the top acting as the counterweight some thousands of miles up. So yes, there could be a lot of trash coming down.
Nova has thus far been very dialed down compared to the monster he was in the manga.
Alita and some others looking "anime" kind of makes sense since they don't have real skin. That would be Alita and Zappan, and a few of the others. So the real versions of them would probably have the same uncanny valley effect.
One change made in the movie was the church and a few other related scenes. Basically the abandonned and ruined church, Vector quoting the Devil in "Paradise Lost" (rather rule in Hell), and how awful Iron City is (also dialed down for the movie), and Zalem being viewed as paradise.
There is a lot of material for another movie, a couple of feet thick of printed material. I wasn't too impressed with a lot of it though, especially some of the prequel material. They changed a lot for this movie, with the creator's approval of the script, and if they do make a sequel I hope they do as well.
I think her eyes are best attribute. She has such big beautiful eyes that convey a lot of feelings through them.
Great reaction V, I first watched this because everyone was raving about the stunning visuals (they really are,). But once I watched it , all I wanted was two things... obviously a sequel, and also a prequel showing her time as a warrior. Great movie 👍
The dog survives!
The man with the other dogs gives him robot parts. There's a scene they posted on social media confirming it. 👍 🐶
Saw this movie opening weekend and I've been disappointed ever since that it never got a sequel. An old friend of mine sent me her Battle Angel Alita manga from across the country like 15 years ago and I knew this was gonna be special
She looks like an anime because the story is based on an anime called Battle Angel Alita. It's in large part due to the large eyes. But the face design is borrowed from the actress who played Alita. She wore a mocap suit so they could make her movements look lifelike. Much like the actors and actresses in the Avatar movies.
Fox owned the movie rights to Alita Battle Angel and it was the last movie made by Fox Studios before the Disney merger. Which means it is up to Disney execs whether or not to do anything with the IP such as greenlighting a sequel. 😢
the anime was based on the manga before that.
Why must Disney put their greedy paws on everything? They ONLY want to make money so they buy up things that are popular and then mess them up so bad it becomes unwatchable in the end... 😡 I hope they don't see too much money in this and lets it go to Rodriguez and Cameron so they could continue this great story!
Many Folks may miss this lil tidbit about Alita. Where was she built? By Whom? How is the sunlight on Mars? It makes perfect sense to have her eyes enhanced as well, along with massively modified abilities. Perfect Camera like resolution, microscopic, telescopic, depth finder, zero vacuum, range finder, infrared, xray, u name it...
@@onomehtenialb you are trying too hard. The fx specialists simply wanted to capture the essence of the manga. It was considered a breakthrough to enhance Salazar's emotion and performance.
@@razorsfury6519 Totally disagree. this "view" of her eyes has been discussed ad nauseum for the last 3 years on Twitter AND within the Alita Army. It is now considered to be a valid hypothesis that will eventually be shown to have merit.
Im not trying to hard. Its a logical assumption, that can be supported as what the original Author intended as a reason for the larger eyes. Notice in the Mars scenes, Alita's training partner also has the larger eyes. URM design or Manga, or both?? Yes, it can also be cuz of the manga, but SCIENCE & LOGIC also supports my assertion. Something a lot of "science" in the MCU & Star Wars films cannot. Look @ the "spin move" from Bobba Fett. Incel's whined about why they did that & how stupid it looked, but under further review of the scene, it was shown to be a defensive maneuver to pull the shot wide left, so he could make the kill
Dont be so closed minded. :)
Finally we all can get a 2nd movie!!! I'm so excited when it comes out🔥
4:08 Yes. It’s based on a manga/anime, so they made her look like a manga/anime character. I think it’s a great creative choice. Never found it off-putting myself.
James Cameron has said that he will be working on multiple sequels to Alita but Disney hasn't officially greenlit the sequels yet. The story comes from a manga by Yukito Kishiro written in the 90s and considered one of the great original cyberpunk classics. The story is massive and really creative, the movie covers the first 4 volumes of the manga. There is also a 1990s OVA called Gunnm or Battle Angel Alita that is available on the Alita Army YT channel. We Alita stans are here for the sequels and more of the story of our Angel.
I have so waited for you to review this. Obviously it's based on a Anime series. I so hate we never got the sequel (I believe James Cameron was planning at least 3 movies...because...trilogies). Very UNDER-RATED. My wife will tell you I tear up every time I watch this.
"Alita Battle Angel is an underrated gem"
No Vicky. YOU are an underrated gem! 🥰
"[Desty Nova] looks like a villain from the 90's"
Because he is ;)
Battle Angel Alita is one of the most criminally underrated series out there. Highly recommend checking the original manga out if you enjoyed this and want more.
(Battle Angel Alita -> BTA: Last Order -> BTA: Martian War Chronicles)
This was a high quality (hand drawn) anime in the 90s, but only 48 minutes long. They included almost all of it in this feature length version. She was super cute in the anime with the great big eyes and the adolescent robot girls body. The only part that they didn't put in was the fact that the hunter warrior guild bar-coded the brains of all hunters as identification, since it was only body part that couldn't be replaced.
One fun bit of trivia. James Cameron bought the rights to to this movie quite some time ago, but because the technology didn't exist yet to do it, he had to develop it. In fact he did Avatar to develop such tools. But because of his schedule and how big Avatar became, he never had time to direct this movie, but. he was a producer here and it was based on his treatment
Great review!! & yes I watched the whole damn thing :) Now u know why we die hard Alita Fans are soooooo determined to get this Character a sequel so she can finish her story.
