My Last Visit To Dump Island Where Things got CREEPY After Finding Rocks Fossils and Old Bricks

This was my last visit to Dump Island in 2023. It started off ok but got creepy. I left kind of quickly and don't plan on returning. I will miss this place. I have found so many rocks, fossils, bottles, marbles, china, pottery and shards out here as I rummaged through the remains of a old building that burned down over 50 years ago, maybe even a 100 years ago. I can never get the right year this once many story brick building once stood before the fire that took it down. Over 50 -100 years now locals have found 1000's of antique bottles, marbles, stoneware, china, silverware, pottery, bricks and tons of broken shards out here. I myself have found many bottles and marbles here. Not only that there are rocks and fossils to be found ! There isn't much left to be found anymore. Now it is not the safest place to visit as homeless people and other bad activity takes place out there. I will miss this treasure seeking dump island. If for some reason things change I will return. Otherwise this was my last visit.

I agree with you about staying safe when rock hunting or metal detecting. A few years ago I was metal detecting an old park in Cincinnati and there were some tarps and sleeping bags hanging back in the woods where I was. I got out of there! Another thing I've noticed is that it is scary going door-to-door to get farmer's permission. The last two farm houses I went to, I could tell people were home and heard the front door lock and saw the blinds move. The door to the house was behind the building rather than the front. These people do not want people dropping. People are really uptight and tense these days about giving permissions. I may just try calling for farmer's permission from now on for my safety and expect to only get 10% yesses.
Wow Jim seeing tarps and sleeping bags would have me leaving also. When I seen the camo tent I then really listened, it was a couple swearing at each other. It wasn't good !! As far as metal detecting I would not even want to attempt the door to door now days. They just might come to the door with a gun. I will stick to parks, beaches and asking my neighbors that know me. I like to stay clear of stress and fear. Stay safe and thank you for watching😊

I have a 200 +++ year old dump in Brooklyn that I have to get back to .
In fact it was originally a dead horse dump 150 years ago.

I've always wanted to get into metal detecting; I think we'd find some amazing stuff in the Superstition Mountains. The fossils you found were amazing!

Such an awesome place to visit. It’s creepy cool. It’s weird that you hear voices but don’t see anyone. Maybe just voices carrying? Still creepy. I’d probably feel uncomfortable too. Oh yeah. If there’s an encampment, you may not want to hang around. Never know when it could be a dangerous situation. Glad you got some finds in the time you did stay. Oh. It’s been that long since you was there. Who knows how inhabited it might be now. I’d say definitely don’t return alone if you ever do decide to head back.
It was very creepy when I seen a camo tent in the brush and then I focused in on what they were saying. It wasn't good, a lot of swearing. I could not wait to get out of there after that. I may go with my friend who is a male and not afraid of anything this spring? Maybe ? The water is very low so I could walk way out there to look for treasures, so I do want to return but it could be sometime before I can do that. We are getting blizzard conditions tonight. Up to 12 inches of snow with winds gusting to 40MPH or even higher. My grass was just starting to go green and now this white crap is going to cover up everything! It will take some time to melt :) Thanks for watching😊

That place was really cool. Too bad it went the way of most places during the pandemic and is now filled with homeless. But at least you got some cool rocks! Those crinoid pieces are really cool. I was fine for awhile, then I started to feel like something just wasn't right, then I heard the voices and then seen the camo tent and knew it was time to leave. There is so much to look at out there, I am sure I will return with a guy friend. Thank You for Watching Lisa😊
@@upnorthadventureswithccc: Please talk to the local authorities first, so you know where you stand, legally. It’s a sad fact that a large % of homeless campers have mental health and/or addiction issues, so do not assume a friend or two will keep you safe!

Like the shell in the stone! All are pretty! Never know the ones in the tent could be escapees from a prison a little west of you?? LOL More snow the next few days! Today I had to take my Jacket off! and next week back up to the 50s and 60s! Wow nuts!
We are getting a ton of snow tonight but it is still above freezing so most of it is melting. We were told 8-12 inches by 1:00 pm Wednesday. I am praying I don't wake up to that !! The grass was turning green and and flowers popping up, now snow with wind gust up to 45 MPH. Really hope it melts away quickly😊
@@upnorthadventureswithccc Ya it starts this after noon for the cold and wind. Rain turning to that crap tonight. The mountains will get hit the worst. Here 8 to 12 inches. sunday in the 50s and monday near 60 again. So they say.
@@quaileggsvermont well it stayed above freezing all night, at least I think it did because a ton of it was melted this morning. Not much came of it after all. The weather channel was off by about 8 inches this time, lol But the wind was real, my yard is filled with huge branches and limbs from who knows were !
@@upnorthadventureswithccc On TV there is a winter weather warnings! Wet crap and very high winds! It's windy out now, but not bad. Everything here for now is dry!
@@quaileggsvermont sounds like what I seen on the news for Tuesday. The winds did get bad, many people north of me have no power, many power poles were down on county roads and smoking ! Not good. They may not have power for days I guess where two of my grand kids live.
Some nice finds but if your spidey senses are saying no go, listen. Stay safe out there.

Kool fossils. Looks like a good place to metal detect but not if there's tent people squatting around.
Hello Jerry :) I actually did metal detect a few years ago and the detector went off constantly. There is so much burned copper wiring under all the rubbish. Did find a some nice old silverware with fancy flowers on it, some old keys and a few coins. I want to give it a try again. Thanks for watching😊

You made the right decision in leaving . . . If they are a group of homeless (illegal?) campers, there could be (unmedicated/unpredictable) mentally Ill or even criminals among them. I absolutely would contact the local authorities before going back-just in case they aren’t aware of the potential problem. Fossils are fascinating !
The authorities were contacted but word has it that they the homeless would return. I imagine the police have to go out there and check it often now. So sad because it use to be a safe place to explore. Thanks for watching😊

Very cool fossils. Too bad people are camping out there. It definitely makes it creepy. You were smart to leave. You never know what people will do. I bet there are still some cool bottles there.

were they mens voices or ladies? How do homeless react to visitors there generally ? here in UK i came across a homeless guy on a nearby beach hes still there 10yrs later i saw his tent on google,maybe their tents on Google too?
I can't say what it is like to run into a homeless person because I never have to this day. The voices I heard were a couple and they were swearing at each other. It wasn't good. I knew it was time to leave. Thank you for watching😊
