Yo was just checking out ur video.. and I think u caught a phenomenon or something on camera just wondering if you noticed. Look on the hill behind you at 11:20 to 11:30 it passes from right to left on the screen on the hill ... 😮😮😮🛸 let me know what you think that is ..
Don't show your license plate on youtube....
I am so sorry to tell you this. I think you’re pretty funny. But you look and sound exactly like Stephen Sterns. 😔 I know you’re not him but I figured you’d want to know. 🤦♀️
I camped here when I was in the Boy Scouts in 1977. My biggest disappointment was when I saw that there weren’t any Sequoias in Sequoia National Forest.
No Sequoias! 1 star! ⭐️
Who the hell complains about bugs spiders and dirt while camping… those people should stay in the city.
The whole area of Lake Isabella is an arid high desert, and yes the ground is very dry and very rocky. Remember, the water in the lake comes from a river that moves boulders the size of trucks, beaches appear and disappear from year to year. Any camping area around Lake Isabella is again dry, this is a man made reservoir to hold water for Bakersfield and farmers in the San Joaquin Valley. Recreation seemed to be have been an after-thought. Trees are very sparse in most places around the lake. Critters big and small are a normal thing in The Kern River Valley, and oh, what you saw was a small spider. And the whole area has roaches, get used to it. Kern River Valley is either a place you love, or you hate, doesn't seem to be much in between.
Yes sir! All spot on! I live in Bakersfield and in the mid 2000s, I was a wine and liquor rep and would service the lake and surrounding areas. But yeah, it's a high desert area and the roaches, they come out when it's hotter so they're a given. It's always awesome to see the valley up there come to life with so much tourists starting in spring for the bird watchers, all the way to Labor Day for the last hoorah!
Pounding stakes, pitching a tent... all alone. 😂
It’s always alone 😂
I am loving your 1 star review series!
Thank you Janice 😊
We camped there and was given a site about 5 bigs sites away from the nearest water source. Our site had a broken water faucet and there were no other campsites that were occupied in the entire campground. Place was empty. The host refused to move us closer to the water source.
Will never go back.
I liked this vldeo, do more campsite reviews…
You got it! Thanks for watching.
I agree thank you for doing these type of videos 🎉❤
Subscribing because these "1-Star Review". Love it.
Thanks. I’ll have more soon!
I have camped here many times however I am normally in a trailer or RV but love the cold lake that we take our seadoo and boat on. We have had some late night party people but never to wild. We go here every year and love it.
Lemme use the boat! Thanks for watching.
I randomly found your channel. Glad I did . 1 ⭐️
Thanks for the 1 ⭐️
Stayed there during a fishing derby in 2023. Was just way to windy to do anything fun outside during my stay. really enjoyed the video!
Thanks for watching!
It's almost like people don't research the area they're camping in. None of this is surprising for the area, it's an arid desert. Likely lots of KOA campers and inexperienced campers who think they're getting some beautiful lakefront sites for cheap. I've stayed in the area and its likely people who want to save money staying here versus going to Kernville but it can still be enjoyable if you know what you're signing up for.
No trees, hard ground. It's almost like being in the desert.
It is
You have a fun reviewing style and well-produced videos. Thanks for taking the review noting racism as something serious and celebrating the African parts of your DNA. Looking forward to more!!
I appreciate that! Thank you so much.
Great review I'll probably never go to most of these places but videos make me laugh 😆
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching
That "diner" as you called it is actually a rather decent steak restaurant. I've had dinner there several times over the years and for such a sparsely populated area it is quite nice.
Informative but fresh with your non-serious semi-comedic approach !
Thank you! I like the term semi-comedic 😂
I would almost guarantee that the “roaches” they claim to have seen were actually just desert beetles. Also it’s the desert, of course the ground is hard and there will be a lack of trees. This is why anymore I take bad reviews with a grain of salt.
There was roach poop in the bathroom. I know, unfortunately.
Camped there last week. It was super windy and the highway was very loud.
I thought that would have been funny that the golf cart guy was just a random person saying you have to pay for the site to everyone and dosent work there haha great video 👍
He might have been 🤷🏽♂️ 😂
I stayed there last year in our van, during the off season and it was great. The host was very nice. Again it was off season, but we liked it. My dog liked it too. I will say though, we are white, so I can’t speak on the racism.
I’ve stayed there a handful of times to hit the lake before shooting some 3d archery tournaments up the road. Not the prettiest camp grounds in CA but who cares, I always had a blast.
Too complain about the ground being hard is foolish. It is a desert after all...
or you could idk use the right stake for the dirt your camping in haha. Cant blame the campgrounds for your lack of knowledge, those stakes are also NOTORIOUS for bending. Also the lake had been at its lowest capacity for the last few years, while they were doing work on the Dam. The Lake has very recently returned to full capacity. gotta give it some time to actually come back to life. But i love videos like this, keeps all the tourists out of our lake so the locals can actual enjoy it and not be crowded by people that are just going to complain about it.
My guess is that little bass tracker had some motor trouble and with the wind blasting that little trolling motor couldn’t make it back to the ramp
True story, back in the 80's my cousin and I were in his boat on Isabella and the wind took over. We got off the lake and grabbed some lunch. We looked toward the lake and a small aluminum boat was fighting the white caps with the bow nearly vertical to the sky! How it never blew over front to back still amazes us today.
These are really funny! Great job.
Thank you 🙏
I’ve stayed at that campground on a cross country road trip. I was almost nostalgic watching your video. I do remember that YES, it took me almost an hour to set up my tent but it was due to the wind that would NOT stop. It was horrible! But other than that, I did have a great stay there. Couldn’t swim due to algae - I remember that too.
Great video!
Yeah the algae thing is horrible. Thanks for watching
We took the kids camping at Headquarters CG near Kernville over spring break. We had rain, wind, clear skies, cloudy skies, and a great time. No mosquitoes either! (probably too early for them)
Awesome. There’s some good spots around there. Glad you had a great time. Let me know if you can think of a horrible camp spot you’d like me to review
Your 1 star review video popped up in my feed so I gave it a watch and now I fell down the slippery slope and I’m subscribed and the bell is set to “all”. And I’m here for all these videos. You got me 😂.
Great! My plan is working! 😈
Welcome to the channel and thank you for subscribing and commenting
My review of the review. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks. Looks a lot different in my video than when we drove by it the other day
Can't blame your lady for staying at home.
I drove through this campsite looking for a place to camp 2 years ago, because nearby Stine Cove was packed. Let's just say I preferred the packed dry boondocking area than "Paradise" Cove. It was eerily empty, it looked like some abandoned rundown forgotten campsite. In fact, if not for this video I would've still thought it was.
Nice scenery 👌
Thanks Todd
Very chill video 😂
Thank you 😊
Love the campsite reviews, keep ‘em coming! Also maybe some 5 star sites
Thanks for watching. I’ll check some out.
Maybe the one star is the fact that it isn't crowded. That should be 2 stars.
Used to camp around that lake. More shade trees at the campsites around Woffard Heights, Tilly Creek, Boulder Gulch. Without a boat to play in I'd be camping at Limestone up the Kern.
Yeah exactly. I want to check out boulder gulch. I think they open the gate this week
@@karrpoollane Boulder Gulch is probably the best campground around the lake.
This channel rocks.
Thank you so much.
The busy highway doesn't bother me, the cell phone service doesn't bother me, the roaches don't bother me, the loud partying by neighbors dont bother me......What FKKN ANNOYS the living crap out of me is the toilet paper rolling system! It DOESN'T ROLL!! Because they use a super wide flat bar as an insertion fixture to hold the toilet paper, the toilet paper DOES NOT ROLL...WHY??????? To save toilet paper??? Gonna bring my own toilet paper next time.
Hahahaha that’s true! I remember that now 😂
So sorry….had to vent for a split second:) lololol
Great channel…Subbed :)
$34? Dang for a water only site? Robbery. Thanks to doing this.
Thanks for watching!
You need to do more of these. :-)
You got it. I’m definitely doing a series of these. Thanks for watching.
god havnet been there since i lived in bakersfield so like a kid lol
Portugal....I married into the Portuguese family. Linguisa and potatoes all day long!
Delicious
The roaches were probably Japanese water bugs that everyone mistakes for roaches
New subscriber here. I'm thinking most of the one star reviews are bogus from people who don't really like to camp. With camping comes imperfect conditions.
Yeah I agree. Thanks for watching and for subscribing
Hey I just found your channel and I'm really enjoying it. You should also try out camping at Wind Wolves Preserve near Bakersfield and Mt. Pinos in Frazier Park. Also, the area north of Lake Isabella has a few nice campgrounds like Lower Peppermint Campground, Holey Meadow Campground, Dome Rock, Quaker Meadow Campground, and Balch Park. It would be awesome to see some of these places featured in a future video.
I didn’t know wind wolves had camping. I go hike there all the time. But I’ll be sure to write these down.
@karrpoollane Wind Wolves has free camping near the visitor center. They don't allow trailers or RVs. They ask that you call ahead to let them know you'll be using a camping spot. I highly recommend camping at Dome Rock up near Ponderosa. It's not an official campsite, so there are no restrooms, but it is free to camp there. It's a popular camping spot for those who know about it. Rangers check in every once in a while to make sure nobody's burning campfires when it's not permitted. Sadly, the area suffered from really bad fires a couple of years ago, but it's still very beautiful, and you get a great view of The Needles. If you go to the area on a weekday, you will likely see the Naval pilots from China Lake practicing. It's pretty awesome!
love the video
Thank you 😊
Crazy seeing how full Lake Isabella is. The last time I saw it was half empty.
Yeah it’s looking great after all the rain last year.
There is a bunch of 4 wheeling trails up there. Check out Keyesville next time its free there and a couple off road trails. Just be mindful of there river it is dangerous. Great channel.
Right on. Thank you 🙏
Years ago when my mom & step dad managed that camp ground those bathrooms were kept clean and painted, it’s a shame to see them in the condition they are 😞
Aw man. Thanks for keeping it clean during your time
Paying over $30 a night for a spot to pitch a tent and a restroom sucks. For that $$, the bathroom should be spotless. Here in AZ our Forest Service charges $30 a night for a tent spot and an outhouse (Mt. Lemmon).
I agree
I stayed here about 10 years ago... This video is damn accurate to my recollection ten years later. thx for the reminder as I think about places to head to again... Forgot all about this one. It was MEH. Nice view for a day though.
I agree
Why the murdery feelings for frogs? 😂 Came here from the Pismo video and can't help but wonder this
I had a traumatic experience with a frog when I was younger.
Pass by there, often. Never had a desire to stay.
Yeah I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it
Did you seriously tell him your name was Cardi B? 😂
Yeah! It’s my license plate 😂 Karrdi B
I thought I heard that 😂
Never camped there, but have friends that have and the number one complaint I've hear was "rowdy neighbors". I guess you were lucky. Other than that, looks a bit rough, but hey! it's camping, not glamping :)
Love these 1 star series!
Yeah, I agree. The neighbors can ruin it anywhere. Thanks for watching and loving it..
@@karrpoollane ;)
the dispersed camping is pretty good at lake isabella though! no one bothers anyone.
I bet. I’m used to dispersed camping.
Looks okay of a campground
I'm convinced Lake Isabella had the best DMV ever, though. In and out in 5 mins.
DVM?
@@karrpoollane*DMV lol
Should have checked out Keysville Blm and free. Kinda by the main dam.
$34 and the bathroom and showers look like that!!, they should pay you to stay there!!!💯💯
They should 😂
I like how you came in with an optimistic point of view. But you did a night when no one was there basically. I can tell you for sure everything and more from those reviews is absolutely true. ESPECIALLY the racist locals, I’m white. I had two friends almost attacked by a mob because they were Hispanic. I was literally told “you should get your little Mexi friends out of here before they wind up missing”. The highlight for one of my long stays there was every restroom being out of service except the one at the very end of the whole lake from where I was. Only to go inside and see what I can only describe as a football team with Crohn’s disease visited the restroom after a visit to Taco Bell. And thought the floor in every stall as well as in front of each shower was where you handle that predicament. But yeah, be aware. Also the water is almost always choppy and weather can turn in a moment. Nothing to stop the wind from whipping your tent all night. All that said, I did wind up having fun there each time. I even met a really beautiful girl with red hair I hung out with who lives out there.
Oh my god 😂 that is probably the worst description of a bathroom I could imagine.
Sorry about the racist. Thats horrible
Those aren't cockroaches those are water bugs. But yes this is the reddest county in California. Paradise cove is nice but it's hard when the lake level was struggling to stay up.
I’m allergic to that ground cover
At $34bucks a night at least the bathroom should be clean. - 1 star = 4 stars.
Yeah that’s true.
What a shame such a beautiful place has a highway next to it
You really know how to pitch a tent.
Fastest pitcher in the west 😎
Maybe the roaches were just passing through the night the reviewer was there 😂
Maybe. I’m not sure when roach season is. It does sound terrible if true though.
The state of all camping areas in California is terrible the Forestry service pretty much just said we can’t keep these ares up so we are going to let private individuals take it over. This was a terrible idea. The Los Padres National forest is a good example growing up we would see the Rangers & the campgrounds where always safe & clean. It’s sad how bad areas have become & also people have been able to build homes basically right next to the small streams we used to fish & now claim them as private property. How is National Forest land we pay taxes for is now private property. 🤨
I hate it when I bend my stake.
It’s the worst 😂
Nice review, I live I Woffard Heights on the other side of the lakes. Way better camp grounds over here. Those aren't cock roaches, they are water bugs. Don't think I've ever seen any up here
Yeah I agree. There’s beautiful spots over there!
Dnt all boats get towed out of the water?
Technically yeah. But not usually by those tow trucks.
Do you know about Another Dirty Room by Dan Bell?
They went to bad hotels and reviewed them. I like your version too.
No I’ve never heard about Dan Bell. Thank you for watching
People that one star review things are just people that love to be miserable.
Never would of thought that someone taking an hour to set a tent up is the campgrounds fault.
if you want to see roaches that are not afraid of you, go to Lake Perris..... especially during summertime...
I’ll write that down. 😂
@@karrpoollane the rv sites, I don't know the tent camping sites..
Driving a brand new fully outfitted bronco and complaining about campsite fees is crazy lol.
I’m not rich.
I would have been fine with the site if it wasn't $34. Ugh. I can get an awfully nice site around here for ~25.
I agree!
last weeks the hills have eyes, this week potential snakes attacking from the hills, well at least if a snake came, you could eat it, I heard rattlesnake tastes like chicken.
The freaks (roaches) come out at night
maybe all that noise was a roach fiesta? who really knows?
nice review, was funny
Thanks again. I’d try rattlesnake. Could have been a roach fiesta 😂
Those were some pretty ugly restrooms and shower stalls. 😳. I have used worse though. Just make sure to wear shower shoes.
Amen
I mean, is it really the campground's fault if the ground is hard?
No 😂
They should of paid you 34 for staying there
I would take that offer 😂
Well, just keep in mind that it is definitely a racist county, especially in the Isabella/Tehachapi area. Most people keep to themselves but iykykhii
Ohhh good to know.
of course someone said "the campground is racist" lol
$34 for that? hahahah.. what a joke.. they HATE repeat customers
they could at least pressure wash the bathroom.. that shower was disgusting..
Yeah that was rough
Im thinking that was a joke, but if not, i hate to break it to ya bud, but....yerr a white guy.
The ancestry results were true. But yeah I look white
I just don’t do campgrounds anymore. Dispersed camping is what’s up. Everyone is deranged and bad boundaried these days, stay the fuck away from people.
I totally agree
I gave that campground one star simply because that's where I got my ex-wife pregnant
That’s hilarious! 🤣 What better place to conceive a child than Paradise though?
@@karrpoollane honestly it was an epic trip 😂
It's a California campground in the desert lol , complaining about bugs outside 😅 also all of California has rattle snakes lots and lots of them .
