In this video we update you on our three silkie chickens who started laying eggs last month. We will look at the egg size and see how often they are laying
Is there gonna be any more videos? Last one I can see is 7 months ago. I am doing the same as you and I am interested in following. We haven't had any chicks yet but we are looking at it within the next month. How are things going?
Thank you for the kind words. We have gone through a lot of life changes (divorce) in the past few years and I moved away from the homestead. I live in a neighborhood now with a big garden, but unfortunately, chickens are not allowed. I do hope to make videos in the future. Thank you for following along
Agrestic Acres Please know that you were such an inspiration to me !! I learned a lot from you about chickens. My family moved two years ago and started homesteading on 26 acres! You ought get on instagram and post some of your gardening pictures! I’d love to follow you. I’m on instagram thefarmhouselady
Hi. I love in San Jose, CA. Rainy season just started. It’s 8am and drizzling. High 50’s/low 60’s today. Should my Silkies stay cooped or can they get wet without getting too cold?
Thanks for sharing this. I love eggs, but I've been told I have to watch my cholesterol, so I was thinking about getting some rescue silkies for the smaller eggs :) looks like a plan! :D
Thank you! I appreciate you watching and hope the videos were helpful. I stopped making videos because I have been going through a divorce, moved to a different house with no animals, and went back to work full time. Now that I've settled into life a bit, I hope to start making videos this spring. They will include other aspects of homesteading without animals or visits to friends homesteads. Thank you :-)
@@thegraceandgreens8533 I understand why you wouldn't be making videos. I hope you are settled and happy. Take care of yourself. God bless you. Hope to see more videos, in the future.

Every time I find a channel I like, I find they quit a year or so earlier.
I just binged all your videos. Hopefully one day you can have a place to take care of chickens again!
I also have a silkie and pretty much the same style channel as you. Its nice to see other small channels out there I like your stuff!
Some chickens can lay two eggs a day my black star chickens do and leg horns so it could mean a hen is laying extra or u have 3 hen's

Love watching your videos! I was wondering where you got your silkies from?
Ryan Kimbrell hey! We got our silkies in the spring from our local farm supply store. I have seen them at tractor supply as well
please more videos!
You do know that chickens will naturally go in the coop at sundown, right? I saw one of your videos where you were chasing them in from the run.

how did that go for you?
My hen silkie is a year old and never laid egg. She is so pretty she looks like the golden one you have. She us the only hen that lets me hold her.
What age did your silkies start laying?
Do the silkies not go broody or want to sit on their eggs until spring?
Chickens can lay more than 1 egg a day. I only have 1 chicken and I always get at least 2 eggs a day.
Cute
Hey I wonder if you know at what age silkie may lay eggs
Wondering why you stopped making videos? I think your videos are great.

You can usually tell the gender by the tail position ( low tail is a female, higher tail is a male) I think the cream and black ones are females
I wanna silky :)
I had 4, now 3 but silky are the best breed of chicken they make no sound ( but they do shout when laying eggs) I 100 recommend you get some :)
