Thanks as always for watching, liking and susbcribing! This is one of the most impressive narratives I've seen in a long time!
thanks for going up & above & beyond for your services. ordering it for switch
Thanks for avoiding spoilers. Without having played the game it seems like you did a great job working around that challenge here.
gonna support Alex for giving this game a 10/10. it's not an exaggeration. it's well warranted. if there's any list of must buys for any platform, not just the switch, this game has to be there, it's mandatory.
Wow. This wasn't even on my radar, but knowing how rarely you give out 10/10 scores, it definitely has my attention now! Thanks for covering this one. I'll have to check it out.
Hope you enjoy it. I played it cuz other people recommended it to be on the basis I like things like Somnium Files and Ace Attorney and after waiting to pick it up on a sale I almost feel frustrated I didn't play it sooner, but at least I dodged spoilers, lol.
I have been waiting for this one. I have always liked the look of vanillaware games. Hopefully odinsphere will be ported to the switch too.
I'd love to see all their games ported... I would like to be able to play again Grim Grimoire or Muramasa
@@diegoperea2115 Grim Grimore just got announced, so you can remove that from your wishlist :)
I bought Tetris Effect after your 10/10. And I’ve never really got into Tetris. But your review and the game got me hooked. Now this! I can’t wait to jump in head first.
This seals it. Into my wishlist this goes. Will definitely get it when im able someday. Thanks for the review Alex. 😋
Wow! I’ve never played anything like this, but you’ve convinced me to check it out (once a decent sale hits, of course)
I preordered it and glad I did now. Thank you!
Wow this looks amazing and your review seals it. This is a must have. Thanks for the review.
3rd ever 10/10 out for 400+ games reviewed. Wow!
Great review I was sitting on the fence but now I’m buying and very keen!
Thanks for the review; can’t wait to play it
After playing this semi-reluctantly due to recommendations from other people this is probably one of my favourite video game stories. My only criticism is I was able to predict a lot of the twists before the midway point (but that's not gonna be common because I consume a lot of similar media and this game was actually the manifestation of a fankwank theory I had for a completely unrelated game six years ago, lol)
Wow! Never even heard of this one! Gonna have to add this baby to the wishlist!
Love sci-fi and always heard really good things about this game, but it kinda passed me by when released on PS4. Now is a good time as any to finally pick it up. I also played and loved Vanillaware's Muramasa The Demon Blade on Wii back in the day. That cult classic need to be on modern systems :-)
The art dude of Odin Sphere was certainly in charge here.
I knew I wanted to play this game the moment it was announced for the Switch, but I had heard about the game performance issues on the PS4 so I was a lil worried about it coming to Switch, glad to hear the game runs well. I'm looking forward to picking this one up. Thanks for the review :)
One of my most anticipated games of the year. It took me forever to find an English version of the game on pS4 here in my country before the Switch version was announced.
This game blew my mind. A true masterpiece. And the narrative was wriiten by ONE GUY!
Been looking forward to this one for a while. Hope I can pick it up physically in my country.
Just picked this up, yeah I know June of 2024 way late compared to most. I always missed sales on this game but I caught one this time, and snapped it up. Only about 3 hrs in and already I love what I am seeing and hearing, best $24 I spent this month.
Preordered my physical copy last week it’s been a long time coming though…can hardly wait to dive in.
Whoa... That's an unexpected score. Putting this on my wishlist.
Playing the Japanese demo now, the twists are so good!!
I was actually just thinking of picking up the physical copy before the price skyrockets!
Went from not even knowing this game was released on the PS4 to purchasing it. This game really looks like a gem. Thanks for the review!
Playing through this on PS5 at the moment and it's so good. Not one for visual novels really but the narrative is done so well in it. Sorry I picked it up on PS5 cos its one of those games that would be perfect on Switch to play handheld
It’s on sale on the eshop right now and I’m thinking about grabbing it.
For sure worth it!
the game is on 70% discount now , came here for review .... now no excuse not to pick it up .. BTW your channel is now my go to for any game review. Fantastic Job ....
Great review, this game looks amazing, a definitive instabuy!
I was already getting it👍🏽
I'm so hype for it. Also I hope we will have Odin Sphere one day. :)
Amusingly thought you were about to say 407th ten-out-of-ten! What were the others, out of interest? This looks really good. I even got a little thrill at the dialogue option simply stating 'War of the Worlds' as it's one of my favourite novels. My only quibble is the artwork of the women does dip a bit towards heaving-bosom fanservice, but I guess that's par for the course with a lot of Japanese visual novel games. The main hook for me here is going to be the writing and the atmosphere and the real sense of place and time the game seems to have. I think I'm going to have to get this. Thanks for the review!
What are the other titles you have given 10 out of 10? I am definitely interested after that high praise. Cheers Alex.
Beat it on the ps4. Really beautiful game with a great story and ost
I don't know if I can get over controlling circles on the battlefield, instead of visible mechs...pains my heart.
The combat is very much secondary to the story. If you value story in your games, this is absolutely S+ tier quality. It really is phenomenal.
@@michaeloconnor1281 I do like a good story, feels like there hasn't been one in gaming for a while now. So I'll definitely consider it, thanks!
I've heard so many good things about this game, and now your glowing review too...I feel torn. I'm usually not interested in Kaiju/Sci-Fi stuff or real time strategy at all, but if it's a fantastic game?🤔
Same, just hearing about the hype of this game but RTS turns me off :/
What were the other 10/10 games??? Would love to see a video on the best of the best games??...
Tetris Effect, Ori, and Persona 4 Golden! I've been working on something similar to that idea
Is there English voice acting in this version? I know the ps4 version got a dlc with the English voice acting.
Switch dock resolution ?
Everyone raving makes me want to get it. I love a good story.
Yoko Taro called Geroge Kamitani a national treasure of Japan. This game is a perfect reason why.
I loved that interview, he is a big believer they need to be around! It’s gonna get mixed opinions though for sure given it’s slower pace. Makes you work for that story
@@SwitchCorner Oh wow, I actually got a reply. I was thinking about something you said in your review. I'll step up to your challenge. Xenogears and Planescape Torment. Two science fiction games that rival 13 Sentinels in terms of story telling. But out of 600 games in my collection, I couldn't come up with much more than two. Guns of the Patriots and the 1998 Blade Runner PC game maybe, but then I'd probably still put 13 Sentinels just a bit above those two.
Considering a buy at this new low eShop price
Gonna maybe wait for a sale.. backlog to do 1st
Most of the voice actors are from Persona 5
Curse you Alex. This is not good for my backlog..... But think you convinced me, that this is a must-play. :)
So excited for this thanks Alex!
keeps the pace moving constantly? it literally locks you into hours of unskippable cutscenes. what kind of pace is that?
“Firteen Sentinals” 🥴
Congrats, I have an accent
It must be difficult to review a game like this, because the story is so...goddamn phenomenal...you can't say all that much, cause *everything* is a spoiler! Haha!
That said, great job. I've double dipped for this one. On ps4 it was just next level, but having this thing handheld? Perfect. Easy 10 outta 10 in the story department.
Side note: this was also recommended by Yoko Taro of drakengard and NieR fame. Incredible experience.
Yeah the Yoko Taro comment is amazing honestly! I love his support for it. Talking about it, it took a few attempts, how do you not spoil a game that’s nearly all story! Appreciate the comment! It’s so hard to say this is a 10 out of 10 but I can’t really tell you why
I'm sold anyway.
10/10 :o woh.
I thought it was turn-based combat? I dunno but, I’m reinstalling this game tonight as I never finished it.
I had this on PS4. Really tried to like it but just did not get it.
the only thing confusing about the story is why is it so long and why cant i skip it?
I'm so looking forward to this game I'm afraid to watch this review because I want to avoid the slightest spoiler.
Its not my style of game. For the Kaiju fans out there, I'm sure it has alot of potential with a great storyline.
My copy arrived yesterday{9/7/2023) After watching this review, I can not wait to dive into this one. The look alone intrigued me. But now knowing that the narrative is top-notch.....oh it's a wrap. Great review. Thanks
I'm leery of the combat, it doesn't look that engaging. You can't really see your mech in all its glory, and that's a really odd viewing angle for combat.
I agree
Tbh the combat is a minor aspect of the game. You need to do it for story and if you want you can turn the difficulty up, but I just set it to normal, cheesed every fight and focused on getting through so I could enjoy the plot.
The visual novel part looks awesome. However the RTS section doesn't appeal to me.
Will get the game when it's on sale.
Awesome review.
Not seeing much actual game just a ton of cut scenes and running about.
snore bore chore fest
all these unskippable interactive cutscenes might as well be a novel game video
they should add a FUN mode where i can skip the story i dont give a crap about. after an hour of prologues that were showing no sign of stopping, i said nah and deleted it
Is the localization the same as the PS4? I know that there were changes to some of the dialogue in the PS4 release because :identity politics: 🤮
Pretty sure game supports multiple languages at least.
In the case of my bilingual skills, Spanish text is the way to go since the context I believe is not written to cater to the woke.
If you're willing to ignore a 40+ hour masterpiece of storytelling because of two lines implying a character doesn't care about their gender that's a you problem
To say nothing of the fact it's more of a computer pun anyway. It's a programmer talking about binaries.
