      Now, that's The Early Beatles that I recall. Simple is exquisite!
      Arguing sets the tone for hatred.
      What a shame that The Beatles grew apart rather than growing together. Picture a perfect square. Each corner is necessary. And so it was with The Beatles. All four were needed for their special sound. No one was greater than another. In the end, it was egos that killed The Bearles. Literally. Oh, how I miss those early days when egos mattered not a whit.

    I've noticed that John seemed to be the principal writer for Billy J Kramer tunes and it was Paul who wrote the Peter and Gordon tunes. Listening to these tracks it's apparent that by 1963 songwriting seemed second nature to The Beatles as John and Paul just seemed to crank out songs constantly and didn't even think about it. It only seemed later in their career when they stopped touring that Lennon seemed to struggle more with songwriting as he simply was not as active anymore.

    • @seltaeb9691
      @seltaeb9691 Před rokem +1

      These songs were a combined effort with the main one doing the vocal. A lot of these songs had been written in their Cavern Hamburg days. It was Lennon McCartney then. 1965 saw the ending of the old partnership but still helped each other out but still kept the copyright jointly.

      I had assumed that "I'll Keep You Satisfied" was a John song as I think he would have been the one to sing it, but my brother said that Bad To Me was John and Satisfied was Paul and then I couldn't unhear that, I think he was right. My favorite unsung Beatles was "I'm in Love" covered only by the Fourmost which I think could have been a smash for them and that for sure was all John.

    • @thesilvershining
      @thesilvershining Před rokem

      I don’t think John struggled, he was extremely prolific. It’s just that he wanted to slow down a bit after Beatlemania because he was exhausted and a bit depressed-and who could blame him? John’s enthusiasm with Beatledom in general was also waning by ‘66 and so was George’s.
      Paul on the other hand became ridiculously prolific from ‘66 onward to the point he had the reputation for cranking out hits effortlessly. Donovan joked in ‘66 that “McCartney would trip and fall on the piano and have a song written by the time he stood up.”

    • @vincentm4717
      @vincentm4717 Před rokem

      @@thesilvershining if you don't exercise everyday it's not going to be easy going back periodically to do push ups. It's the same with writing songs. Its going to be a struggle if you stop doing it all the time. John constantly had to play catch up to Paul from the Sgt Pepper album on. He even admitted that Paul was the main on excited about most projects from that point on.

    • @vincentm4717
      @vincentm4717 Před rokem

      @@seltaeb9691 I'm sure they both worked on most songs in those days but the primary writer was usually the one that sang lead on those demos. Usually Billy J songs were sang by John and Peter and Gordon sung by Paul. The Beatles themselves don't even remember to what extent the other helped out. So it's impossible to know exactly who did what. So we can only go by that general rule.

This song has light lyrics and great melody. Also Paul gets praised for a more pleasing voice. I think Paul is great, but John’s voice at times is very pleasing: Bad to Me, All I Gotta Do, If I Fell, Because… Melodic songs, fantastic voice. Yes, "Boys." John Lennon handed that off from their first album. It's a pity he did because Ringo sang it like a m*th*rf*cker. Just sounds so raw and awesome--like the old-style R&R. I'm not sure if it was a hit or not, but it was old-style, in between R&B and R&R. The Stones picked it up and, in my opinion, did well with it, but the tune lost the raw, sexy quality that it had when Ringo sang it.
      SO.
      NOT.
      KIDDING.

      Badfinger was an Apple group and needed a hit. Paul was producing them, and this one came to him at night, he recorded a demo the next day, and told them to record the song just like he had. It was also going to be used in the movie The Magic Christian. Of course he knew it would be a hit, but he didn't need it for the Beatles.

    Are Paul and George's guitars even plugged in? You can see at 1:36 very clearly that Paul has some kind of loose, dangling bracelet on. It's in risk of hitting the strings or pick-up, so I don't think you'd do that either in the studio or in a performance.

The ending also identical. Sped up a little. So I guess you guys are right that it's Billy J Kramer's version. I wonder if Billy J just dubbed his voice over John's original keeping the Beatles backing tracks, slowing it down a bit. Interesting!

    Billy J Kramer & Dakotas done it actually better & was a No.1 & the Beatles done it only on the album. Billy J had a slightly higher key & produced by George Martin. Billy J was a Merseyside mate & got given a few songs by the Fabs & successful but come Rubber Soul all these Merseyside bands disappeared back to the Cavern & Clubs circuit.

      Ringo loved to act and I think he was pretty good. George was a brilliant comic. Several scenes in HDN--scornfully teaching their roadie how to shave with cream on the mirror & rolling his eyes at John in the tub, going into the "teen influencers" office and dealing jives and jibes in the coolest possible manner until the wildly irate manager gives him the boot for being cheeky--well. That's George at his most natural. He was always up to pranks, as was John (before the religion thing), and Ringo was hilarious on occasion. On the movies, none of them were terrific at memorizing scripts, but improvising worked out well. Dick Lester, director of HDN and Help!, said that of the four, Paul was rather wooden.
