Didn’t you do a video a long time ago talking about the design/shape of the AW? I can’t seem to find it.
@@youcantseeme63 - Was it a bit of making fun of the Apple watch and it's square design?
@@mlegrandYeah, that's the one.

Thank you! Haha
Dude, your video quality is just through the roof. The light/subtle background music, that intro with the transition of title screens, the inner working of pictures and video clips throughout, the up close video shots of the casing of the watch. Just all so superb!
Wow, thank you so much! I think sometimes it works and sometimes it ends up not coming together very well. 🤷♂️
Agreed!!
It’s a pure joy just to watch your high-quality and detailed videos, even though I might not be planning on buying. More tech-savvy people need to know your channel.

Another well made video with good production value. You are creative on how you transition and edit things where others just talk. Appreciate your perspective as you went into details that other CZcamsrs didn't cover. Keep up the hard work and am looking forward to your future videos.
You took the words right out of my mouth!
Great production again Matt
Thank you so much for the kind words EyeSpyFood! It's very nice of you to say. I'll keep working at it and hopefully I'll continue to improve.
I held back on the ultra 1 as it had same chipset as my series 6. Ultra 2 came out with new chip and it was an instant buy. Absolutely love the ultra 2 from day one purchase.
The accessibility gesture feature I used all the time on the series 6 and it killed the battery health. Had to turn always on display off last 6 months of use as at 78%. The ultra 2 looks like it’s taken into account with neural processor and slightly bigger battery
Awesome! Yeah, I’ve been really enjoying it. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
“Carbon Neutral” is such a pointless and stupid marketing gimmick. You can’t measure that, nor does it really solve anything.
I’d like to see them make batteries more easily replaceable. Less watches in landfills. 🤷🏻♂️
It‘s not the truth of course, but they are putting serious effort in it at least to neutralize the carbon emissions being emitted through the product. And not just production but also usage.
Exactly!!!! Carbon is not the problem. Just a real big media fraud.
…and then a volcano erupts and spews out more carbon than our watches will in a thousand lifetimes. 🙄😆🤷♂️
Exactly! All just a “feel good” gimmick
I was looking for a very detailed and full explanation of the two ultra watches.. and here I am.
This video left you wishing for a bit more? Maybe I should make an every difference between the AWU 1 and AWU 2 video? Thanks the feedback on the video.

Real good job of explaining the watch ! I am a diver, have been waiting for an Apple Watch to dive with glad Mr. Cook and I was on the same wavelength!
You and Mr Cook are tight! Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
I'm back. Bought my ultra 2 Friday, was 100 % fully charged and put on my wrist Saturday at 2:43 am. Monday at 4:25 am battery was at 4% battery.
I would say I use my watch more than an average person. My watch is mirroring anything that has been watched or played on my phone so I used my watch to easily fast-forward and skip content. During this time I traveled using gps 7 hours, apple music playing for about 3 hours, or streaming services a total of 3 1/2 hours. always on display, never put on low battery mode. Screen brightness was at 50% the entire time. Truly love this watch I upgraded from a series 6.
That’s awesome! Thank you so much for letting us know. 👌
It’s a pretty good spec bump to keep the Ultra at the top of the line up, as it’s a flagship model. Owners of the Ultra 1 isn’t the target group here - but it’s an even better option for people who haven’t been jumping on board yet
100% agree. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
I agree mate! The spec bump is what made me leave my series 7 and take the leap.
3 weeks in and I have zero regrets!
Cheers! 🇦🇺
I’m a marathoner and jumping from AW Series 4 to AW Ultra 2 is a big big jump for me but I loved it! Love the watch the first day I unpacked it. Can’t wait to try more features on it! I think later on with more software updates, we can see more what Ultra 2 can actually do.
Totally agree! Are you training for any marathon race in particular? Best of luck with training.

Battery life depends largely on the watch face and complications you use. I had heart rate info, weather info on the other complications and got less than 2 days from 100%-7%, but I changed the heart rate to weather info, and changed the other complications to phone, messages, date, battery and got 3 days on a charge from 100%-23% remaining. Both times the always on display was off, that will take you down to 36 hours!
Nice to know Paul. Thanks for sharing this. I would think heart rate checks would be brutal on battery life. It'd be interesting to do some more testing. Thanks!
An interesting point. It would be beneficial if some of these changes could be highlighted in power saving choices, so that one could retain the functionality most important to the user, but still extend battery life when needed. I would also like four power saving modes: moderate, extreme, custom (with user choices and possibly mixed in with the others) and automatic progressive (starting off low but increasing savings as power lowered). As for double tap, I like it for taking photos with the iPhone camera.
I’m getting a little tired of people complaining about the AWU2 not having massive updates. AWU1 is an amazing new Apple watch, period! I fell in love with it immediately, but decided to wait for the U2 because I was sure of the new S9 SiP chip coming, and it did. I have an AW6, and it still works fine with the new software, but being a runner I still want the U2. 60% more transistors, 5.6 Billion, HAS to be a BIG improvement. The 4-core neural engine is significant. 3,000 nits over 2,000 is definitely significant. But, like you said, Apple did not claim any massive improvements over the U1. I would say that first time Ultra buyers, like me, should definitely get the U2. I am not a rabid Apple fanboy, nor an Apple-hater. I am a retired chemist who wants good electronics.
With the U1 i got 1,5 day battery, now i have 3,5 day with the U2. And it responding much faster then the U1.
Yeah, that's kind of what this video was in response to. So, no Apple's not trying to pull a fast one over on anyone. It just is what it is. I think you'll enjoy this AWU2. Let me know what you think when you've had it for a bit. Thanks Pete!
Yep, I definitely do think that it’s pointless to go from the Ultra 1 to the Ultra 2. But, if you’re going from series 7 or older to the ultra, it’s a great improvement

Great informative video 👍. I ordered to Apple Watch Ultra 2 yesterday & waiting for it. I am upgrading it from my old series 6 watch 😊
Awesome! I think you'll really enjoy this one. The durability over the Series 6 device is impressive. My AWU 1 is still looking great after a year of swimming, biking and running. Thanks Ramesh!
upgraded from a series 7 only because i needed the cellular. i couldnt be happier this watch is great i love the bigger screen and the action button. ive already started making shortcuts for it and using notes and the reminders is the best. i wouldn't have upgraded if my series 7 was cellular but im happy i did.
The Series 7 was a great device but yeah, this AW Ultra is amazing. I'd also put forth that it's a lot more durable than other Apple Watches. Glad you're enjoying it. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Video quality and edits insane!
Wow, thank you Hiro!
My biggest complaint since getting it is not being able to turn off the auto brightness adjustment. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’ve looked through all the settings to be able to turn this off. I would rather keep the brightness turned up and charge it sooner than having to have it so dim when it is in a dark environment.
Nope, you are 100% correct. I would love to turn the brightness down or have a bit more control over it but it's all done automatically. Well, you can adjust the brightness of the screen flashlight but that's probably not what you mean. Seems like a simple setting they could add. 🤞🏻
Great Video man, keep up the good work
Thank you so much for the kind words Jake and thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
I am on the Apple ecosystem and have a Garmin Fenix 7X (51mm) currently. I was awaiting the arrival of the AWU2 to arrive before making my decision on my next buy. I am moving to the Garmin EPIX 2 Pro (51mm), now that the AWU2 has arrived. The changes from the AWU1 was essentially a nothingburger.
You’ll love the Epix Pro 51mm. Battery life is huge and you’ll be hooked on the flashlight. 🔦 Let me know what you think after you’ve had it a bit. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Definitely go for the Epix, for me who doesn't work at a desk, frequently goes away for activity weekends, the sub par battery life of AWU is horrendous - your life and workouts are programmed around charging the AWU. The Garmin Epix is so freeing from this point of view, its a shame as I'm also in the Apple Eco system. They could solve it by making the watch bigger, but they won't, because being lighter and smaller and thinner is more important.
ha! I was making this comparison myself, was deciding between target or the apple store. Being an avid outdoorsman, diver and skydiver, I think I'm going for the garmin..thx
I love my AWU2. Battery life is not an issue for me, partly due to my use case. I disabled all haptics, always-on display (I’m a bit of a budding watch fiend, so I wear my AWU2 on my right wrist, and my analog watch on the left; hence no need for an always-on display), raise-to-wake, and most notifications. I also limit screen on idle time to 15 seconds. All these things allow for full use of health and activity monitoring, while maximising battery life.
For me AWU2 is less a traditional watch and more of a wearable computer. I mostly use it for health/activity monitoring, glanceable info like weather/location and routes in maps/activity rings, workouts, and integration with Apple Music on my iPhone.
I love the setup. Can I ask what kind of battery life you’re seeing? 5-7 days or so?
@@mlegrand With frequent use of Activity and Heart Rate, I’m closing in on 5 days. 6 or 7 might be doable with significantly more strict notification culling.
Great vid Matt!
Thank you so much ZeRo!
I love my Ultra original....works great for my Mt Biking as I ride solo.....I have a had a couple get offs where the watch wants to notify someone if I cannot....Since it seems to charge it it an an hour or so....I'm not so upset about Battery life....I really enjoy how it monitors my sleep...

Great review again - thanks. Watch OS 10 is nice but no need to upgrade from my Uktra 1.
Exactly. I think you’ll like WatxhOS 10om your AWU 1. 👌
The title of this video gave me expectations that weren't satisfied. It doesn't give us much "beyond what apple is telling us" or what we can see in countless other reviews.
If the title of the video were something like "here's my take on the AWU2", great. Nicely done. Good production values.
I think this is very fair criticism of the title here. I was trying to dive deeper into the processor, the double tap and a few other topics. But what I presented isn't 'Beyond what apple is telling us' enough is it. 🤷♂️ Thanks for watching and commenting RC.
Is there anyway to turn up the nits when ultra 2 is in the dark and red? at 1 nit, i notice i can't read the screen compare to my ultra 1 screen that's at 50 nits. I have the tv on and when i look down at both, its hard to read ultra 2 screen. I will most likely trade in the ultra 1 in a few days when I get the package. This would be a miss if I end up keeping it, struggling to read the screen in the dark
I don't know of a way to control minimum brightness. That'd be a nice setting to have. Let me know what you think when you have it in hand. Sorry Jones!
I like it. The snappy speed i see is good for the new scrolling for when you swipe up and get those widget cards. The brightness..I can't say I notice a difference outside, I don't think the extra 1000 nits made a difference from the ultra 1. It seems like the same battery life. I'm waiting on the new double tap feature which I will be using it when waking up for my first alarm at 4am, instead of looking at the alarm screen to shut it off, the double tap i was looking forward to so i can double tap and get a few more minutes in before waking up. pausing music with it is important too for the way i use it, I hope it works with carplay. Still waiting to see if its worth the $400 after trade in. @@mlegrand Other than double tap, I don't think its worth the trading in if one already has ultra 1. I really want a sensor for glucose and body temperature. I like that i no longer have chip marks on the edges too. i bang it a lot at work and once when it fell on tile floors. I have a case for it now. WatchOS 10 has been good.
There’s rumors are that Apple is going to build some sort of non invasive blood glucose monitor 🤷🏻♂️

I have tested the battery and it gave me 82 hours battery while AOD was always on, same as max brightness.. That's simply just amazing!
Wow, that’s huge! That doesn’t seem to line up with what Apple is telling us about battery life here. I wonder what’s going on. 🤔

I know the new gesture is coming soon but I also wonder if more will come to this watch that is only available to this due to the S9 SiP. 🤷♂️
Thanks for the video, I agree with your views in that there is nothing to tempt me to part with my money on these iterative changes. Maybe next time Apple!
Well said! I am kind of surprised that Apple didn’t at least do a color change. Not even that small accent orange. I feel like that would have given a select group of people that unnecessary push to upgrade. 🤷🏻♂️ (Im not suggesting that’s a good thing in any way)
Maybe it was a manufacturing issue? These new AWU2s are made of 95% recycled titanium (if memory serves me correctly) Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
No matter what people say about apple products, they keep making the products the way they think is right and people keep buying them so simply they know us better than we know ourselves

I was on the fence waiting for AWU2 and glad I did. Version 1 and 2 are just not enough for me to give up my Garmin. I am in the Apple eco system but Garmin for my watch. With what Garmin has put out this year with the Epix Pro and Fenix Pro I really don't see Apple catching them for years to come and by the time they do what will Garmin be putting out? Hopefully the Ultra 3 will be leaps forward and then I'll make the move. Thanks for your videos, insight and time. Love the channel.
I don't know anything about the AWU3 but I would guess that it'd be a more significant update. We'll see 🤷🏻♂️ I think Garmin and Apple will always be different devices targeting different markets but Apple is making headway into some of Garmin's core markets like swimming, biking, running and triathlon. They seem to truly care about these markets and they keep iterating the software in that direction. The next few years could be very interesting. 🤔
As a cycle tourist, that always has a power brick on me. The AWU just fits my lifestyle better. The garmin’s are soooo good looking though. I use my AWU like my phone and Garmin is just no good for that.
@@xmateinc - That's very interesting. I think there are a few things that you'd really like about Garmin and a lot that you'd miss about the AWU. But the battery life on some of the Garmin can be pretty amazing. Keep me posted if you ever try "the switch"!
@@mlegrand I have a Garmin instinct, it’s a great little watch but doesn’t do anywhere near what the AWU does but it was only 300. I got the instinct solar 2x tactical and it kept crashing trying to load Komoot, so I returned it. I’ll have to make the leap soon and get the epix I’ve been looking at.
@@mlegrand AWU2 is just spec bump that targets people that held out on AWU1 it seems. Seems more appealing to just get the second gen for people deciding to get the ultra now. But fingers crossed that there might be more significant upgrades they are holding out on since next year will be the 10 year anniversary for the Apple watch. And well surely we get some new colors on the ultra (black) if they learned anything from this years feedback release.
Hello Mr. LeGrand, I have a question for you. I see that you are using a heart rate monitor in the pool. I have been training with my Apple watches for a few years and I was wondering if you could tell me just how accurate the Apple Watch heart rate monitors are. I am 62 years old and I competed in triathlons years ago. I am currently experimenting with zone 2 training for longevity. I would love to hear your opinion of the accuracy of the Apple Watch’s heart rate monitor. I just purchased an Ultra 2 after trading in my Series 8. Thank you for any information you can provide.
If worn snug and away from the wrist joint, it can be very accurate when running. Most of these watches struggle with swimming because of how much arm movement is involved.
I’m literally 4 hours away from a full 3 days of no charge on my Ultra 2 and I’m at 14% battery left haha. Pretty sure I’ll get there. Not a super user by any means but have recorded several workouts and I don’t really like the always on for my phone or watch so that’s turned off and one night I did not sleep track. But I mean that’s pretty impressive IMO. I’ve also bought a series 9 and compared them for the first day and the 9 got about half the battery life so figure I could have gotten about a day and half.
Yeah, that sounds right to me. I've very often thought that the AW Series 8/9 are about 1/2 the battery life of their AWU counterparts. Also about half the price. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍

Bought my Ultra1 at Costco (in warehouse) for $499 on 12/26/23. I decided saving $300 was a little more important than a couple of extra features and it was only $70 more than a Series 9. Also, unless I’m wrong, Apple implies the Untras require the more expensive 49mm bands when the 44&45mm work fine.
I think you’ll really like this device. And I agree, you’re not missing much with the AWU2. Unless Apple starts doing more updates specifically targeting the S9 chip.
Getting one for sure
Awesome 👏 Let me know what you think of it when you’ve had it for a bit.
I have a S4. Thinking about the Ultra 2 for Christmas.:)
I think that'd be a good pick up. It's significantly improved. This watch is extremely durable. Although, I also suspect that next years update will be a bigger update. I'm not sure how long you're willing to wait? 🤷🏻♂️
Hey Matt. Thanks for making these videos! It looks like you have been wearing your Apple Ultra in your recent videos with other watches. Is this your preferred watch these days? Loving the content.
Wow, preferred watch is tricky for me because I test a ton of watches. I’d probably say a Garmin Enduro 2 with a flashlight on one wrist and the Apple Watch Ultra 2 on the other wrist. I made a video recently about the top 10 gps watches on the market that I think is a solid starting point. The Apple vs Garmin debate really comes down to choosing smartwatches or athletic watches with more battery life. Not that each can’t do some of both. 🤷🏻♂️
Honneur à tous les journalistes qui ont réalisé ce travail remarquable
Thank you Mikka!!!
I may be flogging a dead horse here, the battery life is really what is holding me back into owning one (aside from a tight budget😂). It’s nice to know that there are endurance athletes like you that are giving feedback on this AWU2 based on an athlete’s perspective. A lot of reviewers out there just totally rave about the battery life because they have been used to owning an Apple watch before the AWU came out and I guess we can’t blame them totally. I am quite hopeful that when the Apple watch 10 rolls out next year, there will be meaningful upgrades on this front. I just wish that the athletes that were featured in the launch of the Ultra will give their take on it after a year that it has been out, but then I guess they’re back on their old trusty true sportswatches.
Yeah, the battery life thing is very interesting. I'm with you. I've seen so many people coming from an AW S7 or whatever to the Ultra and raving about the battery life. It's everyone else who have used other brands that are stupefied at how happy they are with 2-3 days. I get the impression that Apple thinks people are happy with their daily charging ritual. And maybe they have data to back that up. Who knows 🤷🏻♂️
hopefully future generations continue to increase the battery life but the reality is the regular Apple Watch was good enough for 90%+ of amateur athletes and with Ultra 1/2 it probably is in the realm of 99%+ in terms of battery life, it probably isn't on apple's radar at this point until they reach a year they can improve the efficiency and battery and don't have something in mind to use the extra margin to power instead (like a brighter display, new sensors etc.) I guess that's a good thing because it keeps Garmin, Coros and others afloat. I'm not at all confident the Series "X/10" next year will really be a big change in battery with rumors it is getting thinner etc. and I think while next year brings a redesign of the physical body of the watch (and perhaps for the first time ever a new band connector) the following year (2025) will get blood pressure monitoring... all that sounds expensive in terms of battery use.
@@canyonblue737-8 - I guess I've never thought of it that way. Glad Apple hasn't killed off Garmin yet. 👌
@@Stoltee - Awesome deal! Nice snag.
Stick it on low power mode for longer life?
Awesome i got the ultra 1 whats the diffirence with Ultra 2?
Not too much. It’s mostly an internal cpu upgrade.
Do you think its worth upgrading from series 4 great video
Yes, I think that would be a very nice upgrade. Keep in mind you should be able to run WatchOS 10 on the series 4 and if you could make it one more year with that device you might have something more exciting next year. 🤷🏻♂️
While it's true that the double-tap feature has been possible for a while, it was not inherently built into the watch and now it has more features/capabilities.
It's actually odd. In some ways the Accessibility gestures have more functionalities than the new double tap. It's just not as good and targeted at people who need help navigating menus vs the more general public. 🤷♂️
Does it get annoying like a lot of other things about the watch? For example I can't do pushups without Siri talking to me. I can imagine the double tapping being misinterpreted all day too.
I also wonder if it works with thick ski or mountaineering gloves on?
I love the new watch face for the Ultra made it easier not to upgrade this year
I know right? It's nice that Apple didn't keep this an exclusive watch face for the AWU 2. I feel like they didn't post a big update here but they did all the right things with regards to down-streaming as much software upgrades as possible. Bravo Apple 👏🏻
Mat, I love your video. I have a series 7 but I need to recharge it everyday. Should I upgrade to the ultra 2?
Apple typically updates the Apple Watch in September. That’s a long time to wait but the next AW Ultra might be a more interesting update. 🤷🏻♂️
I’d say wait it out if you can otherwise the AWU2 is a fantastic device. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
@@mlegrand Thank you sweets. I did see a CZcams video where they claim it's unlikely there will be a new ultra in 2024 but 2025 will see one come out. Weird eh. ?
I bought the original Apple Watch in stainless steel and Milanese Loop band when it came out in 2014 (now referred to as series 0). The glass popped off around 2020 so I super glued it back in. It’s still my daily wear, and battery lasts all day even after my daily gym workout with about 30% remaining, and I put it on my bedside charger at night alongside my iPhone 14 pro max. No scratches on the glass or body and it still looks great, and frankly it still does everything I really need a watch to do except I can’t swim with it. I’ve been holding out for the glucose monitoring for my diabetes, but that still seems to be far away from arriving. The Ultra 2 looks tempting though. I’ve gone through various iPhones in this period 4s 6 8 X 14 and they didn’t hold up long term with battery life or became obsolete and unusable with software updates. The watch keeps on going.
That is amazing! I’d expect another announcement next fall if you can wait that long. Seems like the AWU would be due for a bigger update potentially. I’d also love to see glucose monitoring but I have a feeling that’s a ways off. 🤷🏻♂️
I've found "Gestures" to be more useful.
For instance when my wake-up alarm sounds off, I can single tap to change it's focus from the "Snooze" to the "Done" button, then double tap to silence the wake-up alarm completely. You can't do that if you're only using "Double Tap".
Also, with "Gestures" you can cycle through any "Complications", double tap to run one, and even use a fist clench to back up from things.
I completely agree. In this video you can tell I’m not that good at them. Have you found that you improve with time? Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍

I’m thinking I could get some good battery out of one. I’m close to buying one. I would have AOD turned off. Only text/calls to the watch. Cellular definitely activated on my cell plan. I would like to only have my watch about 3 days a week, without my phone.
That'd be interesting. You'll have to let me know if you keep using it in that configuration and for only 3 days a week. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Hi Matt what is that device you are wearing around your waist under water in the pool ???
That's called belly fat. I keep it with me everywhere I go. Joking. That's an ECG style heart rate monitor. I wear it when testing wrist based optical heart rate monitors. Thanks Daniel!
Use my AU2 as a daily driver for every day life. Use my Fenix 7 as my athletic watch. They both are great, but calling the AU2 a sport watch is just not reasonable. And, calling the Fenix a smart watch is not reasonable. They both are awesome. Get both and you won’t be disappointed.
Smart comment. I’d love to see both companies work on their weaknesses in that regard. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
I was debating between the two of these. May get both now. One for office one for backcountry.
Does the new find my work the same for finding air pods ?
Yeah, I'm seeing it work the same on Air Pod Pros.
Does the double tap feature work to skip tracks on other music platforms I.E. Amazon music or spotify?
It would only work if that next button was the default button being displayed. So no, double tap doesn’t advance the track when playing music on other platforms.
@@mlegrand Thank you!
Does anyone know which complication is on the top right of the thumbnail? Looks like a grey waypoint on top of another waypoint.
Hey Doctor Rogers, it pulls up waypoints selections within the compass app. I should probably edit these as I rarely use the compass app. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
I really like the AW2 but wish Apple had something like Garmin Connect. If it had same data as Garmin I would probably make the switch.
Maybe they'll work towards some of those features in the future. 🤷♂️ Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Love the logo Matt do you have any Merch! Are you considering making any?(Hat/T-Shirt/Hoodies)
I have some Swim, Bike, Run, Rinse, Repeat stuff but nothing with the cross logo. I should probably make some stickers.

Thank you so much Billy Lee!
Where did you get the band with the grey and white on it?
I think it’s new from Apple. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
It was a massive update for me coming from the series’s 6
I think that's what Apple was expecting for people. Not that people would update this watch from the AWU 1 but maybe an update from the S6 or S7. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Just commenting to support your channel.
As a two watch guy, the AWU is only used for imsg with my wife while running ultras. Otherwise coros or garmin battery leave this in the dust.
Thank you for the help with the algorithm!!! There’s not too many of us “two watch guys” out there. Wear them proudly 👏
@@mlegrand my coworkers all make fun of me and I don't care!

My first time owning a Apple Watch I have the ultra 2 and it’s amazing
I agree. It's a great device. It's a very smart smart watch and integrates really well with my iPhone. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
I love this smartwatch
Nice Lisa! So glad you like it!
Can you use the double tap on the ultra one?
You can not use this new Double Tap feature although you can use the accessibility gestures on the AWU 1. I made a video talking specifically about Double Tap here: czcams.com/video/ClO0Ub9lu6I/video.htmlfeature=shared
Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
I did not like my series 5 watch because it was always dying when i wanted it to work. This Ultra 2 has me impressed on battery life. Good job Apple!. only had mine 3 days, but never seen it below 60% and its usually at 70-80%. Recommended!
Awesome! Glad you’re enjoying this one! Are you still charging about once per day? I’m guessing it could go 2-3 days if you wanted to push your luck. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
@@mlegrand -- Looks like every other day is doing the trick. Lowest this one has been is 30% so far, and I've been messing with it quite a bit, so it's having to do some work. Just slipped the charger under the watch last night. Full this morning, 97% at noon.
I just got my ultra 2 …it’s the best watch ever in my opinion…it’s something else
Awesome! Glad it’s working well for you. My AWU2 after 100 days review video should be coming out in the next few days. 🎥
Matt. What was the altitude range of the Ultra1?
I can't remember off the top of my head but something like 0 - 20k feet 🤷♂️
I didn’t think it was a huge upgrade, and would have updated my Ultra to the 2nd Gen had they released a Black Titanium.
I am very surprised that Apple didn’t at least do a color change.
I’m very Surprised with my AWU2 my battery been Lasting 3 days after 10.2 update
Oh that's awesome!!! I'll have to do some testing. I'd love it if Apple took the battery life as a higher priority or gave us more options to tweak settings towards more battery life. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Carbon neutral is not a real thing, it just makes you feel all warm and fuzzy
I wasn’t able to sleep at night and now I can. (Joking). Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
I think the whole double tap feature will take time for people. When FaceTime first came out people didn’t use it that much but now people FaceTime other people over actually calling them. I’m still old school in calling people but most friends and when my gf call me they always FaceTime over a regular call. I didn’t see people use the record audio in message a lot before but see people use it a lot more now so I think as people use and it become a habit and people find cool thing to use it for or if it helps them do things easier or faster it will catch on more over time.
Good point here. I just hope Apple will consider expanding on the concept. More gestures would be awesome. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
I'm waiting for my watch to come tomorrow
Nice! 👍 You’ll have to report back and let me know what you think. I think you’ll really like it. It’ll also hold up well. I posted a video with some macro shots of the AWU 1 after 300 days of wear. It’s really durable. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Not a big update if you already have an AWU, which I appreciate, this whole thing of making last year’s model absolete is getting old. As a customer I want to feel like my purchase last year will take me the distance. That being said, I don’t think that’s the reason why apple didn’t push a massive upgrade to the AWU 2. This is how apple operates, same watch on the outside, huge difference on the inside, they will now gather data in the background to see how they’ll use it in new coming features, they will push those updates incrementally.
Very good point. But I am very surprised that Apple didn’t at least do a color change. Not even that small accent orange. I feel like that would have given a select group of people that unnecessary push to upgrade. 🤷🏻♂️ (Im not suggesting that’s a good thing in any way)

Thanks! my next watch won't be an Apple Watch. it will for sure a Garmin Fenix 7 Pro or 8 if exist in a few months.
Awesome! If you're patient maybe the Fenix 8. That would be amazing. Although, I haven't heard any rumors of anything coming soon. 🤷♂️
I wish Apple provides some size options, especially for smaller wrists
I wonder if they'll do an AWU S or something for those of use with smaller wrists. I'd love to see 2 size options at some point. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
@@mlegrand: couldn’t agree more, bud! Keep the video coming..
I don't see it if you're own the first one, there's no reason to upgrade. One thing if you're going from an apple six and you wanna upgrade and you don't mind the size . that double tap feature is in the eight if you scroll through it and you'll find it . New processor hi I don't think that's gonna help much at least not for me and you . Thanks for the video to each their own with this.
The accessibility double tap is very different than what's new here on the AW S9 and AWU 2. I'll try to make a video clearing up that confusion because it's very odd. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Well the first one was an apple watch ultra and the new one is an apple watch ultra 2 (too)
I was wondering if it was going to be the AWU "Series" 2. 🤷♂️ Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
here for the b roll
😂 - Thanks Ko!
Would be nice if they made the Apple ultra to be compatible with non Apple phones or even there own IPad
I’ve been saying the same thing. It’d be good for Apple. They could make more money if they opened it. 💰 Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Is it safe to swim in saltwater with the watch? Thanks
I've swam in Saltwater with the watch without issue. Obviously, I can't guarantee that your experience will be the same. 🤷🏻♂️
Pure 24hr battery performance with all modes on,e-sim calling, music fewer ECG's...after updati OS10 in ultra2
Yeah, I talked about battery life in here. It's interesting and tricky to tell if there's been any changes. I'll do some testing here with both old and new watches.
I was on 72 hours and had 21% battery left. Full brightness 3000 nits, and AOD always on.
@@Tha-King-Arthur Mine ultra 2 Is made in Vietnam…yours?
I've had my Movado watch for a year...never had to change the battery 😂
Awesome point! It’s funny how people get amazed at 2-3 day battery life when all watches before 2000 basically had years of battery usage before needing a replacement. 🤔
Fairly simple hardware getting ready for machine learning means that the value of the product will be a software one down the road
Good point. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
After switching from Garmin to Apple due to the resilience promised by the Apple Watch Ultra, I encountered a disappointing issue with the heart rate sensor malfunctioning just a few months post the expiration of its standard warranty. This problem is particularly concerning given the watch's marketing as a durable device for intensive outdoor activities. I had anticipated that the Apple Watch Ultra would offer unmatched reliability for my needs, and this experience has led me to reassess my expectations from Apple. I am now reaching out to Apple Support in hopes of finding a resolution to this issue, despite the warranty period having ended, expecting that the quality and customer service associated with Apple will provide a satisfactory resolution.
Best of luck with customer support. Let us know how it goes. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Anybody’s ultra 2 get dim in low light?
Yes. The ambient light sensor should dim the display in low light conditions. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
The double tap is on all Apple Watches. It’s in your hand gesture settings
I have been experimenting with that. I have the new Double Tap gesture on one watch and the old hand gesture setting set on the other. They are very different. I'll do an entire video on it here soon. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
@@mlegrand thank you. Your Welcome I Love the content… keep up the great work 🫡
It's pretty laggy and not responding all the time.
How does it compare to the watch you could swim with once? Just kidding
Great detail video as always Matt
😂 - You can swim with it more than once so that's a huge plus. 😂
Can you tell your wrist size in cm??
About 165mm. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
I'm still thinking the update could have waited a year.
I have this feeling that next year will be a much bigger update. Again, I don't know anything but that's my guess. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Little bit easier? That’s all he me about the find my ? About precise numbers ?
I have this feeling that I don’t use this feature as frequently as you. Sorry about that.
I think they can step their game up a bit on battery life! It’s not very good.
I’d be very excited to see that. Maybe next year? 🤷🏻♂️ Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
I see your Temp & AQI doesn't work most of the time either
I wonder if it's a lack of updates to these watch face complications 🤷🏻♂️ So odd considering this is Apple's new go-to watch face.
I feel like Watch Ultra owners were sold down the river. Imagine being sold a flagship model just a year ago with a 3 year old chip, then to refresh it with a significantly better one knowing fine well that’s what your intention was all along.
I remember buying the Apple Watch gen 0! That thing aged like milk on a hot day. Unusable after just a couple of years due to the shockingly poor performance from the internals.
Not saying the Ultra is a bad watch, it’s just giving me flashbacks to being screwed over for being early.
That’s a reasonable fear for sure. My experience with the AWU 1 is that it’s holding up very well in comparison to the AWU2. We’ll see how it goes with future software updates. 🤞
