Miljenko Matijevic(Lead singer) Steelheart failed to climb the rig and also failed to dodge the 1000 pound piece of equipment, which hit him in the back of the head, driving him face first into the stage. The outcome of the accident was a broken nose, cheekbone, jaw, twisted spine, and severe memory loss. This happened at a live performance. Which ultimately ended Steelheart! He was an AWESOME rock voice. Also did most of soundtrack to movie “ Rockstar” Starring Mark Wahlberg!
Yes. He survived and the band is currently trying to make a comeback. I hope the best for them, they are all great musicians.
Miljenko Matijevic did the signing parts for Marl Wahlberg. Jeff Scott Soto did the singing for the other actor that played the lead singer Jason Flemyng's character Bobby Beers. The guy at the end that Mark Wahlberg pulls up on stage and calls himself Thor is the lead singer from Alterbridge Myles Kennedy.
It didn't totally end Steelheart, more like by the time Miljenko recovered Grunge had begun it's desrtruction of Hair sadly (as a hair metal/metal guitarist of 40 yrs). Steelheart recently released Steelheart 30, they still do shows, Miljenko recently had a severe incident that sounds alot like a stroke that he is recovering from and is expected a full recovery. His duet of Angel Eyes with his daughter is incredible. If you constantly pay attention and stay on the lookout for Michael you will find Steelheart if not on tour at least doing shows.
He is still doing shows as Steelheart.

If you enjoyed his voice( Miljenko Matijevic). You need to check out She's Gone . Go to the Unplugged version. It is mind blowing how high his range can go. Also a side note that while he sings he chews gum.
Yeah, the gum really bothered me because I was so worried. As many times as he tilted his head backward, he was just begging to choke on the gum. It's a miracle that did not happen. Other than that detail, nothing wrong with his performance at all.
He is very lucky to be alive, the lead singer was involved in a on stage accident where stage scaffolding came down and hit him in the back and head. It almost killed him.
This band was from my home state of Connecticut. Norwalk actually. Played in the bar scene and hung out with these guys way back in the day! 💯👍

Miljenko The Voice Matijevic. I was a three inch earring guy, but the hair has to be plenty longer and fuller than the earrings, and I have 'hair' issues these days. Aaaaaah Maddy, I 'was' something to see lol. Why you never heard of Steelheart? Well, it was just before Nirvana, grunge, Seattle, and depression killed melodic hard rock/hair metal. And there was soooo much product saturating the market near the 'end'. We went from sun, fun, muscle cars, half t-shirts and aquanet, plus a three inch earing now and again, to dirty flannel shirts, unkempt hair, rain, beat up VW vans, depression, and making suicide cool. Stuck in the eighties and damn right.
Thank you for that, Maddie. I knew you'd enjoy it. "She's gone" is the other one I asked you to play, by the same band. Yeah, he's got pipes! Much more than most! His range is phenomenal.
Mili (Miljenko Matijević) is the best rock vocalist bar none. That was from their 1990 debut album. Unfortunately, in 1992 on tour for their second album, while performing in Denver, he had a 1,000# lighting truss fall hitting him in the back of the head, breaking open his head and smashing his face into the stage breaking about every bone in his face. This took years to recover from. In 2001, though, he did the vocals for Mark Walberg’s character in the movie Rockstar. He is back touring with Steelheart today with a new lineup.

I actually used to have my hair half way down my back, in my 80's days, long and curly, spilling out from a cowboy hat.... but had to get respectable when I went to work for the gov't....so sad.

A life goal I have is to have this played at my wedding and to be marrying a woman that makes the lyrics absolutely true. Sadly Miljenko Matijević, the lead, had an incident with a lighting rig that mashed his throat and caused a Traumatic Brain Injury. He had to learn to sing and speak all over again. He still performs and he's still got the pipes, though. It's just a shame to think of how much bigger they could have gotten if one venue had secured their lighting properly.

Hi Maddy! I just discovered you, and now I just subscribed to you. I see you prefer the softer songs, but I love my 80’s rock. I great compromise is the band Firehouse. They have 2 songs that were popular and good for a wedding song. However, I prefer “When I Look Into Your Eyes” over “Love of a Lifetime.” Either way, you’ll enjoy reacting to either one.

They came into the game a little late . The hair bands were on their way out . I don't know if you have heard of the movie Rock Star , Mark Wahlberg , Jennifer Aniston were the main stars , The singing Steelheart . The movie wasn't a big hit !

Tommy Johannsen did a cover of this song .. and he does it almost an octave higher.. it's simply amazing.
Steelheart was on the point of exploding into superstardom when an accident on stage hurt the singer badly and his voice suffered greatly because of it sadly.
