The Devel Sixteen is not the fastest production car in the world if anyone was wondering, since, again, it's never been tested. 3. The SSC Thrust cannot go over 1,227 kmh, as that is the speed it set so long ago, and it definitely cannot go 4,000 kmh. It also cannot accelerate nearly that fast since it uses jet turbines and not an internal combustion engine. 4. The SSC Thrust is nowhere near that stable, even on a paved road, because when something with such a long wheelbase begins to break the sound barrier, it is tossed around like a piece of paper, and is incredibly difficult to keep on the road. 5. Basically nothing in this video makes any sense whatsoever, and honestly it's kinda funny how easy it is to make car videos for people who don't know much about cars.

I see a few commenters debating the "Reality" of the the Devel 16. Sure, yeah, right, it's a "real" car. I've seen it's engine, a bespoke block of billet machined into an extra long push rod Small Block Chevy, that when sitting attended on a dyno produces incredible numbers. I've seen some shady looking prototypes that barely qualify as static display show cars. I won't say that DEVEL hasn't produced a running prototype, but I will say I've not seen one. Somebody send a link if there is video. Do they have a real transmission for the 16 cylinder monstrosity? I know they say the car has a mega-normous HP rating, but have they developed a a clutch/torque converter/transmission that can survive daily use or even supervised track day use? It's one thing to source and manufacture the components that will theoretically assemble into a 300 mph+ dream car, but it's an even greater task to develop them into a viable product that can be driven by the typical billionaire. Look at the Bugatti Veyron: who would have though that it's greatest technical achievement would be its 12 radiator cooling system? Think about it. The Veyron's engine is about half the car, can be pulled out as a 'block' for maintenance, and its cooling system keeps keeps it from melting down *everywhere* it goes, in parking lots, city traffic, the autobahn, or the Nardi test track. Yes, I'm sure Devel is testing out in the heat heat of the Arabia Desert, but do they really have the engineering depth to produce a saleable vehicle that is reliable enough to spend more time in its customer's hands than in the dealer's service bay?

@@imani_13 I mean the supposedly can't be overstated, since atm there's not even a running prototype I mean it's not like there's somewhere a prototype that registered unofficial data, there's no Devel Sixteen, the best you can see atm is an overpriced kit car with a corvette engine in it. And that thing does not come even close to 500 km/h, not even close. Probably even struggles to reach 300 km/h.

This is absurd. The Devel16 is not yet fitted with the 16 cyinder Steve Morris engine. The cooling system, gearbox, clutch and drive train are not yet developed. The prototype shown driving slowly in the desert was powered by a 350 BHP LS1 which should be good for a 0-60 time of about 7 seconds and a top speed of about 120 MPH.
@@stephenbachman132 Most sites list the standard LS1 as being rated from 305 to 350 BHP. I quoted the highest factoryt rating. The Devel16 lads have been claiming to have a 5000 BHP V16 engine for the past 5 years. The Steve Morris engine is real but probably only a psrint engine. I dount that Devel have cooling systems, gearbox and running gear rated for that sort of power. There are a number of misleading videos about this car.

I have seen examples of the LS1 with 500 BHP (Supercharged, LS1 edit, cam and manifolds) Devel are running on a shoestring budget. They cant afford to carry engine and powertrain warranties.. As for the car, it looks good but needs ten times the air inlets to keep a 5000 BHP engine cool. That is not happening. But it could keep a factory standard LS1 cool.

If I recall correctly you are pretty much spot on with your 760mph figure over land, but the speed of sound fluctuates between 600mph - 800mph. This is the reason we have Mach numbers to keep things simple. Think of it this way: Mach 1 is the speed of sound through the air you're in. To refer back to the density and temperature, it is why NASA and other jet manufacturers fly so high for their runs. Say if you climb up Mount Everest and reach the top, you would be freezing cold and may struggle to breathe due to the lack of oxygen. Also, the air is much thicker closer to ground. These two variables raise or lower the speed of sound. So the speed of sound would be higher, and the drag would be greater. That's why they have to go all the way up there.
