That's got to be the biggest flex of all time.
When I read that I was like. Damn, he gots me there
I felt this to my core
I mean what more could you ask for in life really
I got emotional at that line, life is amazing and I'm so happy for them

Light Yagami definitely skipped fourth grade
I was the first kid in 5th grade to reach Yoshi
Yeah, well my name's in Nintendo Power for collecting 152 coins in Wet-Dry World. So who is the biggest potato now?!
I was a bit older, but i deleted the saves and re-did all 120 stars maybe 4-5 times at least.

-Girlfriend Reviews, 2020
Well Shigeru Miyamoto was one of them but he's technically God...
LOL beat me to it!
Shane Martin so is Jesus!
in the 90s making games were projects a lot less expensive than now, for example: Prince of Persia MASTERPIECE was made by 1 and only 1 guy: Jordan Mechner
3:36 At least you get cake in this game. I'm still recovering from the emotional deceit that was Portal.
Technically, the cake WAS a lie in mario 64 as well as that note was written by bowser to lure mario into the castle. Peach just made one after the fact as thanks but she was not technically the one who promised it in the first place
"Was one of them Jesus?"
Yes. And his name is
Shigeru Miyamoto
Hahahahaha funny joke
This
He didn't work on this game but it was actually Mr. Iwata. RIP.
My exact thought right after she said that
a bit on the nose but i'm here for it
STORY TIME: As a child my sister and I played Super Mario 64 every single day for what felt like weeks. But for some reason, we just could never find THE LAST STAR. We were always one single star short of getting to the roof to find Yoshi. We eventually moved onto other games, and in turn, grew up ourselves and became adults. We both moved out and left our N64 back home with our parents, along with our childhood. flash forward to about 15 years later. my sister and I traveled back home for Christmas that year. My mom said she had a box of our old stuff waiting for us to go through. There it was in a box, almost frozen in time from 1996. We couldn't believe that our childhood N64 was still intact after all this time. We dusted it off and kept our fingers crossed as we hoped to see that N64 logo animation start. It did! We played Mario 64 again for the first time in over a decade, and it was just like we were kids again. Best part was that it still remembered our save file! we were literally picking back up exactly where we left off. We took turns playing random levels and were having just the best time ever remembering the controls and collecting greyed out stars. But then something incredible happened. We couldn't believe what had just happened in front of our eyes. Randomly in one of the later levels, WE GOT IT! We got the final star! We somehow missed it as kids, but it was now finally ours! Let me tell you, and I am not exaggerating; My sister and I, two very grown adults, leaped up from the floor and ran around our whole house SCREAMING at the top of our lungs! Probably gave our mother a heart attack haha! Almost gave ourselves heart attacks, most likely! So after our burst of childlike excitement, we eventually settled down and scurried back to the system to reap our reward. After 15+ years, we finally encountered Yoshi on the roof and got the proper ending to the game we had been missing out on. It's the most amazing memory I have with my sister, and it would not be possible without this landmark of a game. Super Mario 64 means so much to so many people, and this story is what it means to me. Thank you for reading :)
If it was in a normal level it's really weird you didn't find it as kids, normal levels show you if you're missing a star along with a hint name
@@superdejan64 It's more likely they were not skilled enough to get it as kids. Loads of people have stories where there is 1 really hard challenge they never beat because their kid skills were simply not good enough but they hold that regret their whole lives.
"Slammin Surge, blowing Bubble Jug, and tuggin a naked muscle doll while bugs baked in the oven and children picked giant boogers all for a Word Wiz."
And back then, we were thankful for the privilege!

For a game called Mario 64 I only counted one Mario.
The twist is that he's 64 years old.
@@littlen1033 Or that he's 64 inches long ;)

Rest in peace buddy
The mere mention of this game makes triple A companies shiver in their Gucci Boots
That's the problem. Spyro and Crash today would barely be servable as indies without much success.
Mario 64 is one of the most fun games of 2020, even if it came out 24 years ago, even without updated graphics.
@@FabriSlv its pretty fun
This is probably where Portal's "the cake is a lie" came from. Mario, never trust the cake!
Him talking to Yoshi saying "Listen, I grew up. over 20 years later, I made a girl watch me beat Mario 64, and then she high-fived me at the end."
Pure gold.
I've been a loyal viewer since your first video. The part at the end hit me right in the feels.
It took practically my whole life, but I too have a cheerleader wife that congratulates me when I do well in games. Good stuff

"I got a girl to watch me beat Mario and high five me." You keep living the dream, man.
“Crammed with Polly Pocket sized efficiency.”
Damn.
the fact that Mario 64 still holds up today all these years later without an update is a clear demonstration of how ahead of its time it was.
I think her point was that it kinda doesn't
Right. But her point is merely an opinion.
The sales, the hype and the observable fact that this game is still fun to play all these years later demonstrate otherwise.
@@antoniosandoval6269 Well the sales is because of nostalgia and the fact that it's time limited.
It can be fun and still not hold up
@@RoxiriOrSokai
I respectfully disagree. Although Nostalgia and its limited release can contribute to some boost in sales, you'd have to have NOT played these games to realize that even some modern titles aren't on the same level.

I think it's a really good indicator of the quality of your content in that I'm always sad when the video is over. I wish they were twice as long!
In 1996 I was 20, and had been playing video games most of my life. I can still clearly remember plugging in Super Mario 64, turning it on and running around in the front yard if the castle. I think I shouted something like, “HOLY CRAP WE’RE LIVING IN THE FUTURE!”
It was a big moment.
The credits song of Mario 64 makes me cry of happiness every time. :’)
It was the first game I owned
And the first game I finished when I was a kid.
I can’t believe it’s been more than 20 years :(

I know it's a little old video but I love how fully realized of a writer you are. I've watched a good handfull of these "reviews" or videos (not sure which to call them lol) recently and I've just been amazed at how good this writing is. Each one has multiple funny moments that aren't dependent upon hearing it for the first time or going to be outdated, they are just great jokes. And while I'm aware that you've said that you're subpar at gaming and your boyfriend is stellar, I believe it's probably the same way for him here. You're just unbelievable with how you make these videos and share content and opinion. From the inclusions of things that your boyfriend says to making the video have meaning, it's very fully realized and needed to say it. (Also just great at nailing how my now wife feels about said games that I've/we've played). Hopefully this comment finds you and gives good spirit!
Thank you. That means a lot ❤️
