The venerable Beatstep Pro makes a great addition to the Oxi One, even though it's very basic by comparison. Having four poly sequencers and all the tricks the One can do along side two mono sequencers and the drum sequencer of the BSP and all the CVs/etc is nice.
I love these kinds of setup/workflow videos! I just got an OXI One to sequence my modular stuff. In fact, I'm playing a live solo gig with it tonight (together with the TR-8S for drums). My MC-707 is collecting dust in a corner right now, which is a shame, because it's a great machine. I just don't like its small screen-workflow, and its limited step sequencer. Inspired by this video, after tonight I plan on trying to use the OXI One for sequencing the MC-707 and see what I can come up with. Thanks!
Yeah I would run the modular into the EXT of the 707 maybe in 2 different channels and sync the whole thing up for an epic live rig with tons of modulation and FX possibilities.
Great video and thank you for showing us how you made the Slap bass patch. The Oxi looks like a great sequencer add-on for the 707, would love to see how Chords and arranging a song works inside the sequencer.
I think your comparison at the end is very valid, i miss faders on my elektrons the most, and getting access to all internal parameters of your mc707 via the oxi sounds very good combo. Currently deciding if the route is Hapax or Oxi, but that portability aspect is also a grear winner. 19:55
I ordered my Oxi One yesterday with intent on using it with my modular, and also with my Jupiter Xm and SH-4d. Never thought about connecting it to the MC-707. Thanks for the idea. Hmmmm, with an MC-101 I could have a battery powered setup.
Let me know how it goes, I have the jupiter xm and I'm debating the oxi, deluge, or hapax. But I might get the oxi and use the rest of the cash for an mc707
Yes, have seen all the videos you’re referring to. The Nopia ($900+) seemed interesting at first but I feel like the Oxi would be a better option for my setup. Have had my eye on the Oxi for a while now. Thanks for the video.
I agree that video with the analog rhythm made me think the same way; why not use an external sequencer with a 'groovebox' of choice. as good as some built in sequencers are its hard to compete with something like the oxi with all the tricks it can do. The only real problem doing it that way is linking your sounds and sequences so they match up, maybe with program changes
@Digiphex i love your setup w/ the oxi and 707. i was hoping you had some coverage of the sh-4d because i'm thinking of adding that to my oxi for some dawless jams with a little more hands on control and smaller footprint vs 707. any plans to do a proper review of the sh-4d? yours are pretty much the gold standard i go to for synth toy reviews.
Thanks. I don't have an SH-4D but that would make a great setup with the Oxi One as far as I have seen. I think you would need something else to play samples, maybe a 1010 black box or something and then also a mixer maybe the 1010 blue box for a dream setup with the SH-4D.
HI, cool video. Can you tell me how much I can exploit the features of Oxi one with samples. I'm not interested in using VST or external devices but samples in the DAW or in a sampler but I don't know if I could take advantage of the sequncer features such as chord mode etc.
@@manuelsirotti9340 Both with samples in the MC-707 or in a DAW, it is polyphonic, meaning it plays a sampled anything multiple copies at note pitches to make a chord.
I really love it. You will get the nicer looking black key version I guess, mine is the first version. I also used the Cirklon and thought about the Hapax but the Oxi has the win with being small and battery powered and easy connectivity even with multiple MIDI gear with the accessories.
It’s very dynamic and if you get to flow with it, it’s easy to make cool things by experimenting. I have it paired with the 4 channel mc-101 and it’s really lovely and there’s even a profile for the 101 built into the oxi. The skill floor is high because of all the features and lots of button and encoder combos. It’s anti-menu almost to a fault. If I could talk to myself before I bought it, I’d still give the green light.

Fantastic video. Have both pieces of gear and this gave me some great ideas. Looking forward to following your journey. Happy New Year!
Thanks, I am a fan of your videos.

That would be great with the MC-101 as he already has a profile in there for the 101 pre-mapped for all the cc's.

Awesome video, very inspiring. Just think how OXI will be working with Maschine MK3?
Do you know anyone who have setap like that?
Awesome

I make it with my Pyramid sequencer too
Yeah that looks interesting to me as well. I have not tried any Square yet.
What happened to your cirklon, do you still use it?
Did sterio image do a track called dark chapter? It was on a junior boys mix on body language records

In a DAW you can use it to control a chord track, bass track and melody with the harmonizer feature, randomize steps and generate euclidean patterns.
@@Digiphex Hi, thanks for the reply but do you do all these things with the samples in a DAw sampler?
@@Digiphex with samples a chord track ? I don’t understand how ..

I sold it.
What do you think of the oxi? Im really thinking of getting it

@@Digiphex yeah I've only heard good things about the oxi ,il be definitely getting this 👍
I have the cirklon but might get the Oxi anyway too. Love the portability of it
