    I'm not a big fan of Hotel Chocolat chocolate; however, for £85 (way more that I'd ever spend on chocolate) you're getting two high quality tins, a 1kg egg, and a box of luxury chocolates. Honestly, I think it might justify its price point.

      I agree!! I thought £85? Rip off. Then the quality of that egg, the tin, the box of chocolates.. as a luxury treat that isn't half bad, especially compared to the £60 one!

    The fact that with the Hotel Chocolat one, you get a really nice metal tin, a really big, thick, nice egg, and you get the smaller tin and a selection box? Like I thought £80 for an egg is so ridiculous and pretentious, but it actually seemed pretty good! Although Grace also like you, I have bought myself those small £1.50 eggs and they are great for the money, a nice little treat, and very budget friendly!

  • @embaggins
    @embaggins Před 4 měsíci +67

    for the amount you get with the Hotel Choc one, it is basically enough for a small family! so in terms of that, if it's shared between multiple people, the cost essentially becomes less as you would only be buying one egg for 3-4 people

    A few yeas ago I bought a mould (two halves that you make and can fuse them together) for an extra large egg and I buy whichever chocolate I fancy and melt it in microwave and then add bits to it. My faves are: - galaxy and cadbury mixed together with roasted hazelnuts and raisins, milky bar with smarties cut into halves but minus the orange ones...okay, so I haven't exactly been adventurous but they're so good and a fraction of the price of shop-bought ones. You can also add chocolates or sweets in the middle before fusing the bits together. My partner loves them!!

    As a big Terry’s Chocolate fan, I feel like it would be pretty iconic if the egg was round to be like the actual orange, with some the outside design reflecting that.
    Sure, it wouldn’t technically be an ‘egg’, but it’d make it even more unique amongst the others.

      @@mariannetuite7411 Honestly, as someone who doesn't love Lindt block chocolate or the truffle balls either, the milk choc gold foil bunny is delicious. Even the dark and white ones are nice. It tastes like a slightly more luxurious version of easter egg chocolate and it doesn't really have that sickly Lindt taste as much. It's my go to at Easter time. Until we visited London at Easter in 2022, I had no idea the giant chocolate Easter egg was even a thing. I absolutely love it!! We have baskets with maybe a big chocolate bunny, jelly beans, maybe other chocolates and usually a toy. We also dye eggs, which I've heard isn't as much of a thing in the UK (your predominantly brown eggs vs. Our predominantly white eggs) and we hide those, along with little plastic eggs filled treats or coins. I really wanted to bring home a giant chocolate egg, but my luggage said no more room. 😂 That Hotel Chocolate egg looked luxurious!! But my son would have picked with Dairymilk with little eggs. If you want to smell like Chocolate, Demeter fragrances has a variety of different chocolatey and foody sort of scents. Maybe not exactly mini egg perfume, but still fun and delicious scents. :) They even have some more unusual scents like freshly baked bread, waffles, pumpkin spice latte, cake batter, real weird stuff like mushrooms, hay, fresh cut grass, playdough, tomatoes, wet earth, etc.😂 If you like niche or hard to find colognes/perfumes, Demeter can be a lot of fun to browse or try out. :) They have sales periodically, and that's usually the best time to get their sample sizes at a reduced price, to see if you really like them enough to order a full size bottle. I too, love to smell like yummy foods! 😁 I tend to lean more toward vanilla heavy and/or fruity scents though.

    I find it really interesting that England has this thing with big chocolate easter eggs. :D We usually go for small chocolate eggs or chocolate bunnies on Easter (Germany). Also very interesting that they're all in huuuge boxes. Looks like a lot of unnecessary packaging to me though. I noticed that the same Lindt egg is packaged so differently for our market. It's just wrapped in gold foil, kind of like a present and has a paper wrapper.
    The hotel chocolat one really delivered, wow!

      In Australia if you didn't get a big bunny as long side your eggs, it's child abuse 😂

    I think the lindt is the best one, but what baffles me is that in the uk you don't get any surprise inside the egg 😮. In Italy, every chocolate egg has some sort of surprise (charms, toy etc..)

    I love Lindt, Ferrero, Rocher’s, and Kinder. I’ve never had mini eggs, but I do want to try them. Rees’s isn’t good chocolate because they’re made with Hershey’s chocolate

    Honestly Lindor is the best chocolate, it’s always expensive. Like a big box of lindor chocolates is like £12 it’s so worth it.

    Don't know about best, but most memorable one was when my parents got me and my brother ones from Thornton's, with our names on them in chocolate. I'm not sure how appreciative of it I was at the time but on reflection, it was so incredibly thoughtful

      The last few years I haven't seen any leftover eggs in the supermarkets post Easter. Only Easter chocolates but I'm not in the UK. I like baking so I used to buy leftover eggs for recipes but they're just not there anymore. Maybe the odd luxury egg but they're still expensive.

    For me an Easter egg needs to be thin, crisp and even. That Hotel Chocolate one looked awful.
