The awesome thing is that she somehow brought Nuzlockes into a more mainstream audience (and also skyrocketed a certain professional nuzlocke player's popularity, which also definitely helps the nuzlocke scene even more).
I don't even play Pokemon and after watching this, I'm absolutely getting into the game. After second gen, I pretty much forgot all about Pokemon and now I'm looking forward to my next weekend off to start playing.

@@ameladaptivedaydreamer949 To be fair, Nuzlocke rules are all self-imposed. So you can forego things like "releasing KO'd Pokemon" and instead just shunt them into the back of the PC to not be used for the run. Or in other words, keep what you caught and just abide by the other rules for the sake of an interesting challenge and rearrangement of how you play. Then after clearing you could do whatever else you want. Worth keeping that in mind and considering trying it sometime.
The second Nuzlocke Jaiden did gave me a small existential crisis. No joke. Heart. Passion. Pain…

Jaiden’s nuzlocke animations have made want to play Pokémon. And I’ve never really been into Pokémon all that much.
The games are fun. I don't know what it is about collecting as many of the Monsters as possible but its just satisfying. The newer games however feel like they lost the charm that the older games had.
@@kylewoodowens4488 Yeah I’ve seen a lot of negativity towards the newer gens so I’ll probably primarily play the older gens.
@@johng1z23 a big reason for a lot of the negativity with newer gens is because they are given mechanics that lessens the difficulty that older fans miss from older gens. They're an easier entry point into the series, and for someone with no experience, you'd have a higher chance of enjoying your time with them because you have no bias or nostalgia.
(there are other reasons behind why people don't like newer gens, but that is a lot of it)

I hope you watch the other 2, they are so freaking good I swear, her Platinum run is a lot darker though... and chat will explain why when you watch it, seriously you should watch the rest of them I highly recommend it, all 3 of her nuzlocke runs were incredible, like it felt like I was watching a movie on all 3 and I enjoyed them all :3
The other two get even better as she refines both her animation and storytelling skills over time. That said, the Platinum one is something you will definitely need to read comments or have it explained AFTER you watch it.
She ev trained the magnemite using the 80+ marill kills, marill gives 2 hp evs per kill. That’s a perfect unintentional ev training.
Jaiden has single-handedly brought Nuzlockes so much more attention then they had previously. Many people who have started to do them did so after watching her first go at it.
I recommend reacting to both of the other Nuzlock videos she's done, as well as her other works.
16:09 What few people comment on is how the battle music stops the second her Swailow gets taken down, and starts up again when the Alteria comes out.
You HAVE to watch her other two Nuzlocke videos. But you need just a bit of backstory before you watch her Platinum Nuzlocke. I guess I will put a spoiler warning up, but it puts a huge amount of relevance to what happens in the video, otherwise it might come off as confusing.

She was streaming the Platinum elite 4 during her birthday. Due to some nasty crits, she lost some key pokemon in the early fights. She was left with only fire vulnerable pokemon right before the fire elite. She considered the run over at that point but asked chat what to do. Stop there and end the game or continue from the last save and see if she can win. Because of her birthday and the nasty unlucky crits, the chat decided to let her go again. She won the second time, but she admits it doesn't count. That is how everything with Giratina and the Distortion World goes in her video. She plays it as Giratina made a separate timeline. It's pretty confusing watching it without the backstory imo.
So you have to have watched the original livestream to get the entire ending? I don't know how to feel about that. I feel like she could have illustrated this more in the video so the chat/comments wouldn't have to keep explaining it to everyone.
@@Bururaian It makes sense for her and those who were in the stream. I feel that is ultimately who she made the video for. I do think it falls a bit flat on the narrative with the glitches if you don't have the proper context. Hence why I wanted to give this info.
@@norvelled Yeah, the context is appreciated, I just wish it didn't need to be explained. I feel like it's something that's important to understand, and that she leaves completely vague in the actual video. It would benefit from some sort of explanation or disclaimer at the end so people wouldn't have to go searching the comments

I'm an older guy, I started with pokemon red, and I have to admit I had never heard of a nuzlocke until it popped up on my recommendeds. Jaidenanimations I attempted my first nuzlocke. So yes, the very first thing you said is so true. She definately introduced me to it and after digging my old emulator out and playing a little to get used to the game again, I have now started my first nuzlocke on fire red and I'm loving the challenge. Big thanks to Jaiden for informing the unwashed masses to this fun pokemon challenge ^^
Legendaries are frowned upon in a Nuzlocke, but not so much in a randomizer.
Simply because any battle in a random could have you facing a legendary pokemon.
In case chat didn't mention it, when you level Nincada to 20 to evolve it into Ninjask, you get a Shedinja as well as long as you have an open spot in your team and a Pokeball in your inventory. Nincada was always cool af to me

People love mawile because of the huge buff it got with the fairy type, and especially in ORAS with its OP mega evolution
Mawile had the misfortune of having a terrible moveset until Gen 6
Also: JoCat's longer-form Platinum Nuzlocke run is very, very good. And heart-wrenching.
Her platinum run is even better. And she even adds her own crazy story into it.
Beyond just her nuzlockes, I'd seriously considering reacting to some of Jaiden's other animations, Koe. Very stream friendly, massively charming, and so well crafted (as you saw here). Anything with Ari in is hilarious, Ari being the name of her actual bird irl.

thank you for saying you enjoy this generation of pokemon (R/S/E). it was one of my favourite gens and i hear so many people hating on it for picky reasons. you just made my day (sees the clock reads almost midnight), i mean night.
I really hope you do the other 2 Jaiden Nuzlocke vids. She also has a video about "The best pokemon game you've never heard of" as well as her first time doing a speedrun (non pokemon but still good).
Now, since you do many other things in your streams, it is understandable that if you decide to do these videos, they would be somewhat spaced out, I just hope to hear confirmation about reacting to them or not.
Unlike the general reaction videos on You Tube (That do movies/TV/Music) reacting to these does good both ways.
Many poketubers (and a few Streamers that do pokemon content) have done reactions to them and it has not only boosted their viewers because Jaiden fans watch the reactions, but it introduces your fans to Jaiden. In her latest Nuzlocke vid she even included one of her most critical (in a good way) reactors as a character.

Jaiden nuzlocke's are super cool. And, she likes VTubers too! On her most recent animations you can see easter eggs, like an Ame sticker on her laptop as well as other little but neat details.
How to get Shedinja exactly in Gen 3...I don't remember the exact, but you need to buy 1-6 Pokeballs from the mart (I just bought 6 to know I had enough) then level up Nincada to lvl 20 with a free spot in your party. Nincada will turn into Ninjask and then Shedinja appears in your party automatically. It can actually be a pretty beast Pokemon when set up with the right team build. It only has 1 HP but it's Wonder Guard ability makes it so only Super Effective attacks hit. I've seen people set up Shedinja with a Focus Sash to allow it to survive 1 Super Effective attack.
Altaria not only lowrolled that earthquake, Jaiden also unknowingly HP IV raised Magneton by wiping out the marill population before taking on Wynonna. She accidentally turned ZipZapZop into a tank.
I like how all of chat just went 🕶👆 “that’s the HP EV’s” at the same time.
I'm trying to say this to as many clippers as possible and a special thank you to you, thank you for sharing clips and insight with people who love hololive already and with those that have never seen them before, I was already deep into hololive but some of best events happened during some of the worst moments of my life this year, and being able to see those great moments again during those days of pain was refreshing and doing other kinds of reaction content and your streams themselves, and I'm grateful to you, you helped make the end of 2021 fun

I've never used Legendaries in a Nuzlocke, but I have used Mythicals in Wonderlockes (Nuzlocke variant where after you catch the first Pokemon in the route, you then immediately wonder trade it, and use what you get)
This series is great, because it makes both Nuzlockes and Jaiden Animations even more popular than they already were.

Legendaries are fine to use if you do a randomizer run since you could run into them in the wild. But otherwise most don’t use them

After doing it in Pokemon Y I got hooked so now I always do a blind nuzlocke run when I pick up a new pokemon game. Everyone seems to have their own preference for what rules to use and argue about what is and isn't allowed but if you're going to do a run just do what seems the most fun to you. Want it to be super hard? No items. Want to use that Groudon? Go for it! I always run the duplicate rule in mine. It does end up making it easier since you've got a bigger variety of pokemon to use but nothing feels worse than having your first encounter in a new area be another bidoof.
The difficulty of nuzlocke runs isn't the reason I find them fun (grinding can eliminate that aspect anyway) it's the way that they transform a playthrough into a unique adventure. They also add some replayability to breathe new life into the older games. So use the rules you like, have fun, and look out for sneaky crits and wobbuffets.
Of all the reactions I’ve seen of this video yours is definitely the best. You might not be a pro nuzlocker like some of the others but you get the humor 👍

My issue with Mawile didn't really come until the remakes. I wanted to have both Mawile and Gardevoir in my party but part of my brain refuses to allow overlapping types. They both had fairy added to them in gen 6, causing me to drop Gardevoir in favor of Mawile.
Yeah, somehow overlapping types might be irritating but in that case why not have Mawile and Gallade so with swampert you would have 6 types already (or Sceptile and have 5). Or, there is a thought, to make one-type theme team, for example, team of only ice types, or only bug types, or flying, or normal types. It seems to be a good challenge for people unable to do nuzlockes like me. It's not that easy since for example grass types in johto have big disadvantage or psychic in hoenn or bug in kanto but it's not that hard so you would be scared of losing.
I'm always between those two, not letting myself to have two pokemons of the same type and making a team that consist of (accidentally) only one type with one or two exceptions. Maybe that would be the answer?
Also, the final fight in her Pokemon Platinum Nuzlocke was super amazing. If you've just seen Jaiden from this video, and like her, go watch the Platinum Nuzlocke next. Trust me, it's good.
Can I just add that this 9:00 voice of Jaiden made to appear far away like the animation is brilliant and immersive!
I don't know if this was ever mentioned, but she unintentionally saved her magneton herself. Marill gives hp ev's so her killing all those marills boosted its health justttt enough.

Gen 3 was my favourite. i remember having to delete the game 4 times after completing the game each time just so my friend could finish his pokedex on platinum
as well as leveling a tallow from lvl 3 all the way to lvl 100 with the move return

I didn't like Mawile much when i first played the game but it really grew on me over the years. Poké Park for the Wii helped with that.

There are a bunch of animated nuzlockes from different CZcamsrs, you should definitely think about reacting to them. Jaidens are the best quality but there are many more out there.
I believe in Mudkip supremacy, also this animation is my favorite of Jaiden’s
I like doing Nuzlockes but the only issue is I find they are still so easy because of one problem. I just end up using only 3 pokemon that cover the bases, if I am lucky enough to get them. So I often end up over leveled to the point that match-ups aren't a huge deal.
real talk no matter how many times I watch her Ruby Nuzlocke, I always shed a tear for the pokemon who die near the end.

12:57 a nincada needs to evolve into Ninjask with an empty pokeball slot for both ninjask and Shedinja in your party. Basically nincada's shedded skin becomes a shedinja.

13:05 nincada evolves into ninjas then if you have Pokéballs and an empty slot in your party you also get a shedinja
I like Magneton quite a bit since it's only slightly weaker but also faster than Magnezone, and if you've played the Pokemon Stadium games, Magneton has some really cool animations with it.

The reason ZipZapZop survived is because of 2 reasons.
1: Health EVs from the grinding.
2: Low roll.
If she had a modded version of Ruby, she could look for a Link Cable or a Link Stone to evolve Machoke.
You chose your rules additional to the basic 3 Nuzlocke ones.
I think Jaiden didn't use Groudon mostly cause. She already had a full team & up to that point she only used the new pokemon after 1 on her team died

When Nincada evolves into Ninjask, if there is at least one open space on your team you will also get Shedinja in that space. Otherwise you miss out on that gimmick.

You can use legendary mons but only when randomised ie go in the grass and you find Lugia
Having a legendary mon is overkill in a standard nuzlocke
