based on the interior damage around the steering column and the glove box, door handles etc., my guess is that it was stolen and stripped for parts inside and underneath. Unfortunately due to it's age the cost to repair exceeded the actual vehicle value and that totaled it. The car went up for auction and if I heard correctly, the engine and transmission were already taken out when it got to the yard, which means the buyer only wanted the engine and the rest of the vehicle was scrapped. That's my best guess.
They selling whole vechicles there? Dont see em that clean no more man. Those truck get beat up and worked to death. Id say keep that thing whole, someone will make good use of it
Nice clean truck ,I probably keep it ,I got several nice cars out of the scrapyard back in the 80's & 90's & they lasted a long time or I resold them to friends

minimal rust no body damage,put a used engine in it and daily drive it for another 15yrs..save yourself $50grand
