FILM DESCRIPTION:
A seemingly ideal day turns disastrous when California's notorious San Andreas fault triggers a devastating, magnitude 9 earthquake, the largest in recorded history. As the Earth cracks open and buildings start to crumble, Ray Gaines (Dwayne Johnson), an LAFD search-and-rescue helicopter pilot, must navigate the destruction from Los Angeles to San Francisco to bring his estranged wife (Carla Gugino) and their only daughter (Alexandra Daddario) to safety.

As he drove the boat thru the debris all I could think about was the fact that in that scenario alot of that debris was probably bodies.

@June so Blake is played by Alexandra Daddario who played Annabeth in the Percy Jackson movies well in the first movie Percy could control water so I'm guessing they mean that Percy used his powers to set the tsunami on Blake. And Annabeth and Percy were together and I'm guessing thy broke up :/ hopefully this is helpful x

I love a good destruction scene as much as the next guy, but I feel like debris is really overlooked. That much debris being violently whipped around at those high speeds would absolutely tear you to shreds, and that boat would not be able to function in the water with that much stuff floating around and getting stuck in the motor
This is a magic boat with a magic motor.
They could have used a boat with an impeller instead. That would have saved my frustration at this detail oversight too.

They were behind huge supports at the time the wave hit, thus preventing flying shards from hitting them.

When you see an entire glass of water coming to you but you just feel a drop
Ants when you spit on them
If you are at eye level you need to run upstairs or tie yourself to the columns. Second being swept to the middle of the building means you're trapped. The building will begin to collapse under the pressure sucking you in. Sky scrapers are death traps in disasters especially for those with no experience in the water.
They couldn’t run upstairs, it was blocked
When Ollie started choking I screamed at the top of my lungs
Before this scene it looked like there was no way that tsunami would reach them that high building but everything else about this scene seems pretty realistic

Not exactly the end of the world. Europe, Africa, Antarctica and Australia wouldn't suffer any form of damage. Asia would only get damaged in Japan and the surrounding area and South America would get damagednon the west coast. Canada wouldn't suffer so much damage either
I love how in a city of millions, you don't see one dead (or even a living) body floating by.

Just like the helicopter, luckily the boat has a hull which no incidental industrial debris can penetrate. That's why I love disaster movies. They're better fantasy fun than a lot of the magic and swordplay films put together.

I think rewatching these scenes, gotta hand it to the sound team, hearing the metal structure just scream as its bent and mangled is a sound I think alot of us missed
Most people don't know how much force/power water has. IF that wave was "real", that building would get obliterated. The people would not just get "splashed" over like that. They would be swept away like mashed potatoes. There would be 0 Chance of surviving this.

@@yourfather8309 The San Francisco airport is about 10 miles south of downtown tho, and since they were coming from the Golden Gate, that plane would have been Northeast of downtown.

Oh, film-makers do like their walls of water, don't they? Mind you, I don't know enough about tsunamis with regards to San Francisco topography to say for certain there wouldn't have been such a thing. I am glad they did acknowledge the fact that in RL most tsunamis roll in as shallow waves but just keep on coming, and coming, and coming and getting deeper all the time. So yes, the water would keep on rising...

Huge disaster befalls coastal city. Leaves perfect pathway through all the mangled metal and debris. Nothing destroys or tangles up the single engine on the boat
