  • Got some cranberries and an orange. What can we do with that? How about we take an attempt at brewing an cranberry orange ale! Join me as we make a fruity beer with real fruit!
    Recipe
    3 lbs. Pilsen Light DME (99 %)
    8 oz. Brown Sugar (divided at 4 oz.) (1 %)
    12 oz - 16 oz frozen cranberries
    1 orange
    0.25 oz Magnum @ 20 min
    0.25 oz Cascade @ 20 min

    Anytime you're dealing with fruit you have to account for pectin, which causes haze. Pectic enzyme, and NOT cooking the fruit will help......also keep in mind the "white" of the orange peel contains the majority of pectin and probably only adds bitterness to your ferment anyways.

      Interesting, I was not fully aware of that. I figured the peel did help to the haze.
