Bondi Rescue follows the work of the elite professional Lifeguards who patrol Australia’s busiest beach. This is Australia’s real life Baywatch! Taking the viewers on their journey through mass rescues, drownings, resuscitations, shark sightings, and all number of the weird and wonderful experiences Bondi Beach dishes up.
In ‘Bondi Rescue’ the audience sees the action through the eyes of real characters and lifeguards like Hoppo, Deano, Reidy, Jesse, Maxy, Whippet and Harries, as they catch thieves, perform CPR, make drug busts, break up fights, and even handle a navy bomb that washes ashore one afternoon. Every year throws up new and completely unexpected challenges, and how lifeguards adapt is what makes Bondi Rescue a show that’s about much more than swimmers being saved in the surf.

I always think I'd rather some blood than a break or a tear. I'm an older carpenter doing heavy work on old sometimes dilapidated buildings. Or I'm tying steel for concrete. I'm used to bleeding somewhere. It's just the severity that varies. Insulation tape usually takes care of it if I can't just wipe it on my shirt 😂

My dad broke his neck and hat tied a scarf round it and carried on, my mum made him go to the hospital and it turns out it was broken in 2 places and if he broke it a few centimetres higher he would have died. He is to tough. Some times I wish he would actually let us know when he is in pain, but it’s part of his personality. He is always going to do dangerous stuff. He calls me a wimp for complaining after I have had an asthma attack and I just think fair enough 😂😂😂
My grandma walked around with a shattered hip and broken femur for 4 weeks finally she went to the doctor and had to get emergency hip replacement surgery

Sometimes it can feel like sore muscles ai. We had a mate here few years ago, came off his motorbike in an enduro. He was fine went back to seeding and spraying. Had a few pinches here and there, little bit of pain off and on and dizzy spells. Anyway turns out he actually broke his bloody neck when he came off his bike, he was very very lucky that in all the time after with seeding and stuff that he didnt paralise himself.
Unfortunately a few years later he died to cancer.
It's a hairline fracture not compound (breaking out of the skin or almost), it's normal it wouldn't hurt

I feel Yatesy’s pain. Breaking your ribs is the absolute worst pain in the world. Broke two on both sides. You can’t breathe deep, yawn, laugh, sneeze or barley move without any pain. He’s a legend for taking it as well as he did.

Growing up in a place like Aus with all the poisonous animals, heatwaves, fire seasons, plagues of flies and living in the middle of butt-fuck no-where tends to help you grow up with a healthy sense of self depricating humor coupled with an almost "religious like" laid back attitude towards life in general. As I spent most of my childhood at perths pmh (a children's hospital) in wa australia I can confirm that most aussies, especially kids and teenager's, are so chill and laid back that it becomes a detriment to their health.

I recently had the same experience with anesthesia. It's like:
Your brain functions with the same normal speed, but your mouth's actions are delayed
Gravity mode is turned on by x2, moving your head makes you revert back to a comfortable position
Blurred vision for the first 20 minutes, I saw doubles of people.
If you had surgery and suctioned out your saliva, dry mouth with an intense desire for water to quench it's dryness.
As soon as I regained consciousness, the nurse asked questions which I perfectly registered, just the immediate thought of speech impairment or lack of confidence in speech so slowing it down to make it coherent for the listener was why. Was on the phone texting friends and family about 15 minutes after waking up, speech recovers shortly after along with vision, gravity later then dry mouth at least 1-2hrs in.

@@melissabarranti188 I mean at the end of the day. They didnt force him, obviously nobody expected him to get injured etc. Mates do this all the time, its nothing but good fun at the end of the day. Nobody wants the other to get hurt. They've stated multiple times that the film crew is great fun and often very helpful in rescues etc.
But of course they are to blame to some extend but dont act like they forced him out there expecting him to get hurt. It's no point in playing the blame game in these situations.
They're not heartless monsters, they're working men and women that take pride in their work. Sucks that it had to end the way it did but come on..

The lowest possible costs of each injury in the USA would be this in Australian dollars:
Kalian’s Calf Muscle Tear: 7,046.26
Jethro’s dislocated shoulder: 3,049.24

Air transport in the USA can cost up to to tens of thousands of dollars.

Shoulder dislocations happen all the time anywhere to anyone, it has nothing to do with lifeguarding, if you do everything correctly there will be no injuries what so ever. You arent truly made to be a lifeguard if you would quit after a little shoulder dislocation and the job probably isnt for you, the job is all about putting ur life on the line for someone else

pneumothorax (collapsed lung) is even worse. Worst thing I've ever experienced.
@@jakelocker6933 A broken neck is far worse than that. With a healthy guy, even a tension pneumothorax is managed fairly easily through needle decompression, a healthy lung will typically heal itself without surgery but does need a thoracotomy and some rest.
@@10--50 I had a tension phenumothorax along with 3 broken ribs, VATS surgery followed by plurectomy..
3 week stay in hospital.
Sometimes a healthy lung won't just heal itself without intervention.

I have EDS, which means I've had hundreds of dislocations. Sometimes lying alone for several hours until getting help, sometimes able to relocate them myself.
As I'm sitting here typing this I'm icing an injured hip that I got because I have EDS too. Nice to meet a fellow zebra!

I know Jethros pain of a dislocation. Something very similar happened to me at Myrtle Beach.
I was going back up from the water from looking for shells. I could tell high tide was coming in so there was nothing to find and so I turned around to head back up. A wave hit my leg wrong as I was turning and my kneecap went overboard. My mom took me to the closest hospital, which was only a 1 1/2 miles away from our condo. I layed in a hospital bed, covered in sand, with a dislocated kneecap, for 2 hrs until the nurses came to relocate it. Lady luck must have been there because I did not tear my ACL luckily, but I partly tore my MPFL. This happened 3 weeks ago, I can now walk a short distance without my brace and I am making some good progress on bending my knee again.
Edit: I can now walk without my brace and Ive gotten my mobility back completely. I just got to work on my strength.

Jethro is one lucky guy. He has a very beautiful and caring lady who was with him through the realignment of the shoulder.
He said it hurts to laugh and a couple seconds later he laughs and this is literally my expression 😧😬
These life guards are so heroic. They spend everyday looking at the beach, and saving lives. In an attempt to save lives they get them self injured! Give a shoutout to Bondi lifeguards and lifeguards saving lives all over the world!
