Really enjoyed this video. Very funny. My wife is Japanese, for Shizuoka. I enjoy watching the Japan channel with her, as well as watching Japanese dramas and movies (including the Miyazaki movies). I'm picking up some of the language, but it isn't easy. Ja nee is more correct, IMO. Depends on the relationship. Ja nee to for someone who is a close friend. You can also Mata Ashita if you have concrete plans to meet the next day. Sayonara is a too formal, long-term goodbye.

Sayonara is actually an incorrect answer in that context. You say sayonara when you are say goodbye to a person for good. I’ve been living in Japan for many years, I’ve never heard a Japanese person say sayonara
