  • "Captain Teodor" is my English translation, arrangement and interpretation of "Kalle Teodor" by Astrid Lindgren. It is the gloomy tale of how Teodor met his ghastly fate on the high seas.

I think, people forget that the story in this song is that more tragic as Pippi recounters this tale from the seven seas was because Kalle Teodor, wasn't the "Captain" he was the Cabin boy..... His mother sent him on the ship to learn how to become a skipper-crew Yet he the youngest among the sailors that travelled the waves... at the time the ship he was sailing sank on the Biskay, people knew of the young sailor that perished aboard, due to his mothers inconsolable grief. and they began to refer to him as the Youngest "Sailor" on board, despite the fact that he was just a young kid (possible as young as ten at the time)... This story was remembered for a very long time, in that village, but after a while, people began to forget about him, and that's where the song goes "though nowadays nobody remembers the name Kalle Teodor" as Pippi sings it in the movie. this is part of Astrids Lore in the Pippi Longstocking stories, but it was one of the verbal tales of legend that she conjured up for her stories in the lyrics of this song.
Yes, Astrid was a very imaginative woman. but her stories weren't always about adults and most of them were about brave kids (Because the person she began to tell these adventurous stories to in the first place was a child lying ill in sickbed and she wanted to cheer her up.) most of the lead characters in anything Astrid conjured up with her mind, was therefor Children.

    Orginal translation (
    Squib)
    Verse 1
Can you remember a sailor from before? Can you remember Captain Theodor?
You will never see this sailor man, again. He's resting in the ocean Captain Theodor.
    Chorus:
But on a stormy night it echoes, someone calling "Hey Ho".
From the oceans deep it comith, and it sounds like so: "Hey ho, Hey ho".
    Verse 2
In a storm of the biskey the ship hit a wave, the ship he was sailing Captain Theodor.
So now he is resting below in his grave, cradled by seaweed Captain Theodor.
    Chorus:
On a stormy night it echoes, someone calling "Hey Ho".
From the oceans deep it comith, and it sounds like so: "Hey ho, Hey ho".
    Verse 3
Youngest of the sailors, with pride and with blaze, that was the little Captain Theodor.
His mother would greave to the end of her days, but who else remembers Captain Theodor?.
    Chorus:
On a stormy night it echoes, someone calling "Hey Ho".
From the oceans deep it comith, and it sounds like so: "Hey ho, Hey ho".

Andreas sjöberg im pretty sure pippi longstockings and asscreed isnt set in the same universe, so it would make 0 sense for this song to be in it.
also dont assume asscreed could just randomly BUY a song from a movie that was released LONG before asscreed was even a thing. not only that, but a movie, series, book, and game, that almost every damn kid in sweden grew up to.
it also wouldnt be possible because astrid lindgren is fucking dead and has been for years.

I agree with ZerqTM. It's some poetry in the sailor being someone insignificant that no one will remember. Most people will relate more to an employee than to their boss and feel more of an emotional bond. And this song is originally about a child worker.
Charlie Theodor would've kept the emotions of the original better.
And I think that people who think for themself or at all are much more fun to be around than easily offended people who get upset as soon as someone expresses a personal opinion.
