I liked it when Ziggy questioned why there are explosions happening behind them and why they must say a morph call every time!

The actors from this cast also seem to have gone on to more mainstream success than any other Power Rangers cast.
Facts still to this day. Shows how good of actors all of them were. When you actually forget they were on power rangers. The only other I can think of is Brandon from spd another good season

RPM was great. The dynamic between Dillon and Ziggy was excellent. I also got that big brother protecting his younger brother vibe from it.
RPM is probably one of the most mature/realistic power rangers season. I think what make it better is they show the ranger's military rank. Base on how Special Forces are currently structure in most countries, most likely Scott Red ranger would be a Captain and by the end of the series rank Major, Summer more likely a Lieutenant, the blue ranger, gold, silver and black ranger would rank Sergeant and Ziggy would rank Corporal, but move to Sergeant by the end of the series.
its kinda impressive how much subtly was in this series. children's shows (especially power rangers) tend to be over acted and filled with exposition because they assume the children watching are idiots.

Summer is one of the best Yellow or even female rangers written. I've never seen a ranger so interesting - someone with a complicated past, a conscious motivated choice to make meaningful decisions in her life to help others following the death of her closest/only friend, and an exploration of status, society, and found family. It didn't have to be this way but it really hits.
Facts.
Never saw RPM because it was on in the early morning hours. This season is basically underrated due to how Disney handled it in its attempt to end the franchise.
Jeremy Riley Yeah, and it was only aired on ABC Kids, which was a programming block that never changed its lineup, outside of Power Rangers.

The first episode of RPM is the best power rangers episode IMO. Because the actual power rangers don’t show up until the end. IMHO power rangers is better when they don’t morph.

I could not agree more. I mean, I do like when they morph too, lol, but I've always been a strong advocate for Rangers as people first, mainly because the fights, the Zords, you can change em rearrange them and for the most part, still makes sense. But the people make the season what it is.

MAXIMAL FREQUENCY ok chill dude I kinda agree but I still like some development it’s just that most ranger series there are really cool morphs and zords but no development which I find cool but when it comes to things like rpm there is a perfect mix which is great
I happened onto RPM by accident. My son loved to watch Turbo so once we had watched it all I thought he'd enjoy RPM too what with the car theme again. He didn't connect with it but I did. It really is nearly perfect for what it is. The idea of Dillon questioning the series as a whole as a response to Disney's questioning of the series as a whole is a very nice catch on your part, dude. Well done. Looking forward to the next one.
RPM is more for an adult, instead of kids. I probably won't let my kids watch RPM, because I think it is far too scary for kids and they also got 2 ranger KIA. (The only other season they got KIA is in lost galaxy, pink ranger KIA). I probably let my kids watch it, when they are a bit older, may 10, 11 or 12. But not when they are under 9, I image it give the little kid nightmare.
I think RPM would be even better if they show the military rank of the rangers. I would think, Scott (red ranger) rank Captain. Summer (yellow ranger) rank Lieutenant. Blue, Black, Green, Gold and Silver ranger rank Sergeant. Colonel Truman, it is more military accurate to rank Major General. (usually an officer in his position rank a 2 or 3 star General). Apart from that I have to say this season is perfect.

@@juicebox7372 I agreee with that, I watched Rpm when I was 7 or 8 and that didn’t give me any nightmares. Plus it was the season that got me into power Rangers in the first place, so looking back as a teen this really is an amazing season to help your kids get into the franchise.

@@peteryang8991 Huh I remember watching some Sentai when I was a kid and they were more direct with things like death and dark. Scary, of course, but I wouldn't say nightmare inducing. The only reason I wouldn't let my kids watch Sentai is because they were more sexualized as well.

I feel that rpm was one of the very first power ranger series to have dark themes. It was not scared to think outside of the box and be original. It was not scared to take risks and that ended up growing a powerful series with driven characters.
I feel this completely. This was supposed to be the LAST season ever and it kept it going.. RPM is engraved in me.

It would have been perfect with the intended ending. I like the idea that Dylan was a sleeper agent and Venjix's next body. It would have been so bittersweet for the rangers to destroy Venjix but forced to destroy Dylan as well. It makes me weep just thinking about it.

Legend 8 Death should be shown but done sparingly so that a death when it occurs has a great deal of impact. And dont give me it's a children show and children should be protected from it. My neice was 5 years old when her sister died in a car crash. She was able to process and handle her death well. I wish people would stop underestimating children, especially those that make content for them.

What is it with people getting introduced to Power Rangers, when those seasons were planned to be final seasons? Seriously, I've seen comments on CZcams saying that their first season that was watched was Wild Force, another season that was planned to be the last of the series.
This is the season that got me back into Power Rangers I stopped watching around Wild Force how I'm huge Terminator fan the initial story reminded me of that

I just realized something Dr.K on screen talking to the rangers is parallel to Venjix Machine talking to his monsters. Like the both shove out new technology in the same manner. I'm sure there's a light and dark, and parent and child complex going on. Venjix being the antithesis of Dr.K. She wanted to go out side into the world but wasn't able to and Venjix being let go into the world when he shouldn't have. Also them reveal themselves (in a body/in person) later in the show instead of right at the beginning.
Building off on this logic, Dr. K revealing herself allows her to be more human and open and when Venjix creates a physical body for himself, it gave him a weakness by being more open giving the rangers the opportunity to destroy him later in the series.
I am not gone lie, I instantly loved the season when it aired.
i for sure think it's a great season of rangers. while different cause of the post appoclypitic world it's set in the fact the ranger's mission wasn't to beat the bad guys like other seasons it was to aid in the survival of what's left of humanity. It worked well as a season of rangers where good and evil weren't the typical entities that they have been in seasons past.
I've been watching Power Rangers since the 90s' and RPM has to be my fav season overall with Ninja Storm coming in at a close second.
MMPR was by far my favorite season but RPM my goodness. RPM was the best well written season ever. The storyline, the humor, the action everything.

One of my favorite season of PR, I love it first when it aired on TV, it has some solid writing and the uses of original footage to separate from its counterpart.
Something I hope you cover, but I'm gonna quickly bring up since I never hear anybody mention it, is a parallel that was set up in one episode between K and Venjix. Of course, K created Venjix in order to eliminate Alphabet Soup and escape, but one thing that's never discussed is the scene when the government finds footage of her TRAINING Venjix. Upon activation, he immediately asks to go outside. This is the same thing that K asked so many times, only to resort to creating the virus when they wouldn't let her.
K not only created Venjix in that she's the programmer, she created the monster that is Venjix, because she treated the AI the exact same way that Alphabet Soup treated her. Consider in the first episodes, when Venjix "creates" Tanaya 7 and says that he's created something that looks "truly frightening. Truly terrible. Something that looks... human".
He's *afraid* of humanity. I firmly believe that this would have come back into play, bringing morality of the heroes and the villains strongly into question, had the series' plot taken its original planned course. After all, how do you defeat a computer virus that's made it clear that you can't just destroy one body to eliminate it? The only real way would be to convince it to stand down. You could have the final battle be with a general who takes over after Venjix, Kilobyte for instance.

2. The next Sentai they are adapting is Go-Busters. This is a surprising pick considering that everyone is expecting Kyuranger and because that season was skipped in the first place in favor of Dino Charge.

It was reportedly Bandai who called for PR to skip Go-Busters, the adaptation is announced at around the same time that the move from Bandai to Hasbro is announced, and the adaptation drips with Hasbro motifs-coincidence?

Probably if I was a Ranger(s), I’d be Chip, Dustin, and Ziggy. I’m a huge geek and comic book fan; and I think I have a really good personality.

RPM is one of my favourites, it's definitely in my top 3! I'm so glad you like it too because I've found that generally views on this season are polar opposites. I just find it amazing that there was a LOT of production problems and they still pulled it off so well! I think the casting of this season was VERY strong, and they have identifiable characters who go on a great journey together with a good story. Dylan had to be played by an excellent actor as he had so much backstory and character, and Dan Ewing does an incredible job. The story progresses naturally, everything is earned in earnest, there's build-up, and payoff.. It's so good!
As a 7 year old I loved the fights and the villains

nice analysis; RPM is probably one of my three favourite series with the character arcs here being among the best.while most of the rangers wouldn't make it to my personal favourite of each colour, the team dynamic is in a rare class *(the exceptions being Dylan and Ziggy, who ties with Bridge),
Ziggy is interesting. Actually if you look at how the military really recruit elite combat unit, you see, it is very hard to train qualify cadets. For fighter pilots, it take 4 years to train and amount a class of up to 100 students, only 10~20 graduate. Special Forces is even harder, on average Special Forces take 1 or 2 years to train, for Navy Seal it might even go as high as 3 years. And amount the class, each semester, amount a class of 100~200 cadets, also only 10% graduate. That is why there are so few fighter pilots and Special Forces. So, it is not surprising after 1 year, the team only got 3 rangers, while 2 more suit was still vacant. until they found Dylan that qualify to be a ranger, Ziggy is technically speaking unqualified, but there was no choice, due to bounding with the morpher is the only way to protect it from falling under enemy hand. Gold and Silver are most qualify, but they been training to be rangers, since they were kids, it is like with the Spartans and the Samurai, they start training as soon they can walk, of course they are qualified and you can see, in the series, Gold and Silver can fight the monsters, unmorph, Dylan, Gem (gold ranger) and Gemma (silver ranger) are the only ones that can do that and the reason Dylan can due that is because he got robotic enhancement. Gem and Gemma can do it, despite no robotic ungrades.

It was a rumour before it was skipped for dino charge that cyber corps(the original name of Beast morphers)was going to be either a sequel to rpm or lost galaxy I kinda want them to make it a sequel to rpm because go busters story lends itself to that

Remember watching this when I was a child. Loved it then and still love it now. Just love how it all plays out and how unique all the characters were. For around a year little me thought this was the last episode of this series was the last episode of power rangers ever. Like that is literally how they phrased it "And now the last episode of power rangers ever".
First off, awesome video as always Brain! Secondly, I am actually quite stoked about PR Beast Morphers. Just from reading the synopsis, I would really like to see Venjix be incorporated into the story in some way. That would add an automatic cool factor in my opinion.
Yes. No show can be perfect, no product can be more than 99.99% effective. Not every show touches everybody on a deep level.
I would flip out(in a good way of course) if Beast Morphers brought back Venjix. It's all right there for them to take.

I think what made RPM Great is that, its the only Power Rangers Show to have The same type of Tropes you see in 90's Sentai like Dairanger, Timeranger and Go Go Five, which kinda has a similar storytelling style to RPM, and since power rangers haven't utilized such Screenplay before (which they have but not to this extent), it makes RPM unique.
power rangers beast morphers, i know disney itself wasn't the source of cool seasons like this, but ill wait to judge beast morphers once it airs. the main concern is what this will mean for following super sentai seasons that we have yet to convert. and again, nice reviews! great at breaking down the content of the seasons and giving them a fair pros and cons. and again agreed, best part of RPM on top of other things was how they roasted on the franchise themselves, but in a fun comedy way.

I just finished watching RPM and as dark as this series is, I enjoy every bit of it.
If I can ever be a Ranger then I'll be a combination of Ziggy and Dillon, the best Ranger Duo ever
It shows u how good the acting really was in rpm. Most of the cast is still having lots of main stream success which it extremely rare out of all the power rangers. One of the the only other I can think of is Brandon from spd. U know they've had success when the 1st thing u think about them is not from power rangers

I grew up on the older seasons and watched In Space to Dino Thunder as they aired. I fell off at the beginning of S.P.D. and am kind of upset that I hadn't stuck with it. I'm currently collecting the Shout Factory DVDs and now I'm looking forward to watching RPM. Great video, man!

Can we all just agree the RPM is so massively underrated. It legitimately has the coolest and most interesting characters, best premise, most smartest and most self aware humor, as well as is surprisingly dark. Even as an adult, it's probably the only season I can watch and enjoy with cringing most of the time lol🤣 Dillon is probably the best ranger character ever. Out of all the seasons I watched as a kid, these are the only characters I fondly remember to this day. (Not counting Tommy the absolute legend😅)

I've been watching RPM on and off on Netflix for the past few months because of this review, and I sincerely thank you for turning me on to what I think is the best season of Power Rangers in relatively recent years.

I've been a Rangers fan since I was a kid, I've watched I think almost every season up through Mystic Force full through, then fell off a bit, joined back up with Samurai and stopped again around ninja steel. I heard Beast Morphers is good though, so I wanna try that one.

I think that the same Blue Turbo Power that made Justin morph into an adult form also imbued him instinctually with the knowledge to wield the idealized buff adult body and perform martial arts with it, like how the Super Mega(fail) Rangers morphing into Legendary forms allowed teenagers with attitude to use the advanced martial arts of Ranger teams that had trained all their lives to master those martial arts, such as the Samurai and Jungle Fury Rangers.
Pretty much! I guess in a way that worked a little bit because Emma and Jake got trained up by Casey, but none of the others did. And because of that, none of them ever actually had to, and it became Super Mega Mess... lol
The Disney Brain Is that why Troy was silencing the smart people on his team (Noah and Gia) and just insisting "A Ranger never lets go of their weapons. Next time, we just won't let go." instead of thinking of the obvious solution (or at least not trampling on the brains of his team so they can think of it) of using the Legendary Ranger Powers of Rangers that can fight with his bare hands?
Because he didn't have the helpful inspiration of Casey to point out the obvious solution, which Emma and Jake had received from training with the master?
Here’s a concept I came up with that could be a way in which the talking zords from Go-Onger could have been incorporated into RPM.
Have it be that Doctor K gave each of the Zords an artificial Intelligence to help the Rangers fight Venjix, while taking some precautions. For one, the reason she would have given the Zords their own A.I. Would be because the Paleozord didn’t have this A.I. And thus went on a rampage (or at least the closest thing to a rampage that a giant train made up of a Mammoth, T-Rex and Triceratops is capable of). Not wanting a repeat of the Paleozord incident, she gave each of the other Zords their own A.I. However, she took some extra precautions. First of all, to prevent them from turning evil, she programmed them to have a strong sense of morality. After that, to ensure that Venjix couldn’t take control over them, she gave the A.I.s a special firewall to keep Venjix out. Eventually, when the Paleozord was woken up, Doctor K, while a fugitive due to it being discovered that she created Venjix, had to create three new A.I.s, one for each component of the Paleozord, complete with the sense of morality and the firewall. These A.I.s would act kinda like the Beast Bots from Beast Morphers, with it being that they help out the rangers, and are able to talk to. Their minds would also be contained inside the Engine Cells. Now, Here’s some names and personalities for each of them. Thank you @Feedback99 for these suggestions.
Speedy the Eagle Racer: a speedster who’s quick on his feet (or in his case, tyres)
Leo the Lion Hauler: A guy who’s smart and laidback
Berry the Bear Crawler: a sweet and loyal friend.
Fin the Tail Spinner: A real tough guy.
Wulf the Wolf Cruiser: A quiet, but loyal friend.
Crunch the Croc Carrier: a guy who likes to be loud and known.
Soar the Falcon Chopper: a real chipper guy.
Stripe the Tiger Jet: a patient but quick kind of gal.
Blue the Whale Jumbo Jet: a happy-go-lucky and laid back guy.
Tusks, Fang and Spike the Paleozords: Brutish and simple minded fighters (think of the Dinobots from Transformers).

I like the Unique ratio of this team 4 guys and 1 girl in the core, black and green in the same team. Sixth ranger comes in a male and female pair at the same time.

I had been off PR for years by the time this came out. SPD was the last one I watched and Mystic Force just didn’t catch my attention. I watched like the first few episodes and then just completely stopped. But I just recently finished watching this season for the first time and I’m thoroughly impressed. I also didn’t realize that they brought back ppl like Judd Lynn from the previous era. This season to me was basically a post Turbo/Disney hybrid to me in a way. And you can really see the influence with Dillon and Tenaya’s story being damn near identical to Android and Karone, as well as a much darker tone than any Disney had done before this.

RPM was my first Power Rangers series and I still love it.
I honestly don't remember a majority of the Power rangers series that I watched when I was younger but I always remembered this one because of the novel concept, at least to me, of the rangers not needing to hide their identity and everybody knowing who they are
