Many thanks for this video. I have tried in vane to get an answer from Insta360 as to whether or not the X4 could be configured to start recording automatically when power is applied. Your video has answered my question - so thank once again.

As a matter of interest would you know roughly how long it takes to boot up and start recording? I have been testing the AcePro (using the same feature) as a PIR activated wildlife camera, and it works really well - I have always wanted to get a 360 cam to work in the same manner :-)
Is recording in FLAT the same as LOG? I've seen one Insta360 representative say that it isn't. As you know, the X3 supports LOG, so why didn't they include this in the X4? Was it causing overheating?
I thought it was the same at first but apparently it’s not - you will be able to grade it more easily but I think it behaves differently when you apply luts and isn’t the same as log. I’m not sure why they’ve done this.
There’s also one big feature they took away, which is the WebCam mode. I’m ticked off about it. It’s the main reason I bought it.
Forgot quick charge (PD) support for charging in camera using USB-C and that the X 4 can be used as a powerbank as well!
i wish they would add optional phone-style record and stop buttons to the display. But maybe I said that already. A great canter through the darker corners of the X4 menus, thanks! I think you might be optimistic about some of these features being added to the X3 as the X4 CPU may be required to handle them, maybe,
What’s the best mic to use with this? Rode, DJI or Lark Max?
I have the rode wireless go which I love and I’m testing the dji mic 2 which connects via Bluetooth next week

MY Insta360 X4 does NOT connect with my GPS Action Remote.
I have problems stopping recording with the shutter button, and when I turn the camera on and it’s in photo mode I have to re select a mode to make it work .
If you have a physical problem with the shutter button you should report it to insta360 in case the unit is faulty. Regarding the photo issue I’m not exactly sure what you mean but make sure you are on the latest firmware - you could also maybe reset the camera which you can do in the settings menu.
Yeah and some of the not spoken disappointing things like not exporting to 8K from the mobile app
Yeah they probably didn’t do this because it would probably be a struggle for some phones

Hopefully they might add functionality with nonGarmin (eg Coros) watches . Can you use your phone as the GPS device for overlays?

I used to use an Apple Watch with a previous camera and yes you could control drop start recording - I’m sure this will be the case with the X4 but haven’t tried it - thanks for the comment

I heard on one video that you do not need the dji mic receiver connected to the camera to work. That the camera had a build in receiver.
If that is true or not I have no idea?

wish i saw you video 2 days ago, just returned x3 mix adapter and its really frustrating, also in some area x4 accessories are not even available yet!
Check out my latest video - you could use the Dji mic 2 which doesn’t need an adaptor - uses Bluetooth - it’s not perfect but maybe an option

I use my Garming edge cycling gps together with phone app to get stats overlay but, there's a massive lag - 3 secs or so. Iis this normal and what are power saving tips for the X4? the batteries on this thing is a joke.
I haven’t tried with x4 but it doesn’t sound normal - 3 seconds is a huge distance if you’re cycling which would make the overlay pointless. In terms of battery saving tips here are some basics: 5.7k instead of 8k, reduce screen brightness, enable screen sleep mode every 30 seconds, screen sleep while shooting, don’t let batteries get cold. Hope this helps.

Another thing is, I chest-mounted the cam vertically(yeah I know it's advisable to do it horizontally) so, when viewing on my Ipad, it wobbled crazily, clip's unusable, but when I viewed the same clip in the camera itself, no wobbles, what's going on?
Hey there, great video! I have a DJI Mic 2, do you see if this would be impactful or an issue when connecting with their adaptor?
Apparently it connects without the adaptor via Bluetooth- I’m testing it next week 👍

I have been using my INSTA360 ONE X2 with my DJI Mic 2 connected using the AirPods feature... will they also connect to X3 and/or X4?
I’m testing the he dji mic via Bluetooth hopefully this week but apparently it does work with the x4 and I’ll test with the x3 as well

Can you film in log mode like the X3? I can only see standard, vivid and flat in the options?
Flat is the closest you will get at the moment which will give you some grading flexibility in the edit but not as much as log - I’m not sure why this has been removed
@@EatSleep360 does seem strange - part of the reason I bought the camera (today) was because the previous one had log, so I’ll be able to get my clips in sync (in terms of colour correction) between the GoPro 12 and the Insta360.
Does the gps remote for the x3 work with the x4?
I haven’t tried it but insta told me it does
When shooting video in HDR mode it does not allow you to do 8K. It lowers to 5.7k

I’ll be making a separate video on this soon - my guess is it won’t be much better than the X3 due to the same sensor size

No, Facebook will compress it. Also the 8k is shared around the whole 360 image so once it’s reframed in one direction it is more like 2.7k to 4k

I have the X3, I find the menu to be a bit fumbly.
The menu on the X4 is pretty much the same interface with just a few extra options
Yeah, it looks very similar. I find the screen to be very difficult to use.

Here's one more: They've removed the Auto Exposure Bracketing feature (AEB). It was in the X3 and my whole reason for upgrading to the X4. Wasted my money.

I’m not sure what Comms - I’ve only got the picture from their site but hopefully they’ve covered all the right bases as moto vloggers have been asking for this for ages 👍
Gone are the days of cameras simple to operate. You need a university degree just to learn half the features and how to navigate menus and available options. Wished Leica made a camera like this with 3 page menus and one button.. cameras are getting ridiculously complex. My new Sony camera nas almost 500 tab/pages of options.. what a joke.
Download my X4 ebook and it guides you through the menu - the link is in a pinned comment above. I know what you mean though - at least with the Sony cameras you can create a bespoke favourites menu which simplifies it a bit. Thanks for the comment

I don't know about you, but I'm sick and F'ing tired of insta360 continuously putting out new cameras, and abandoning the last camera. Especially with the One R. They made all these big claims, and now it's just a real expensive paper weight.
They’re still supporting and selling the X3 but I know what you mean about the ONE R - there were a lot of promises and a lot of potential but it was replaced with the RS and then even that wasn’t developed fully.
Does the remote control for the X3 still usable with the x4??
