    Dr. Phil is definitely proof that you can NOT blanket parenting. Some kids respond to "I'm disappointed in your actions and I hope you make better decisions in the future." Then there's other kids who need to be karate chopped in the throat to get your point across. Wonder where these kids fall 🙄🙄

  • @johexxkitten
    @johexxkitten Před 3 lety +34

    If your kids are running towards rock bottom, but you’re holding their hands to stop them, they’re never going to learn actions have consequences.
    They’re grown young men now, kick them out, they’ll either sink or swim... if they swim they’ll learn how to keep a roof over their heads. If they sink they’ll learn respect and see what you’ve been trying to protect them from.
    My mum kept my younger brother’s tied to her apron strings, she kept them tied to the next, complained about their drug use, but turned a blind eye to their behaviour. She would buy them weed “because they don’t take heroin instead” they both took heroin. She’d demand to see the weed they bought with her money, so she knew they’d used the money for weed not heroin. I demanded to see this weed... it was bits pulled off a conifer tree, he’d bought heroin. Another time he showed her it was oregano... I pointed it out and her reply “he has no reason to lie to me” I just screamed he lied because HE BOUGHT HEROIN!! She denied it... again.
    I “accidentally” left my phone in my brother’s room for 15 mins after he bought this weed... I got him on film injecting. He told mum he was injecting weed *insert atomic eye Roll” she believed him. I showed her how wrong that was and even got a colleague from drug and alcohol addiction services to speak to her. Once she realised he lied she claimed you couldn’t actually see what he was doing it was too dark. I brightened the screen, but she still couldn’t see what he was doing, despite if being high def and I cold zoom in. I enlarged stills and got them printed, you could even see the marks on the damn needle. But mum lol I don’t know, does it matter?”
    In 2016 my brother died... he wasn’t a full on OD as no drug was in such a high amount, but his tox screen read like a who’s who of pharmaceuticals.
    His death certificate states in black and white, drug related death. The only thing mum said was “that’s not true, he only smokes weed” and then says “he didn’t OD though”
    Some of the drugs in his system we items she was prescribed, and he was not... so either she gave him her medications or he stole them.
    She should have let both my brothers hit the bottom and grow up... but she enabled him right into a coffin!

    When you force your kids to go to rehab for weed, your taking that bed away from some heroin addict who actually wants to get clean just saying. Marijuana addiction shouldn't be allowed in inpatient rehab. Forcing anyone into rehab is a waste of time & resources but that goes for any type of addiction, no just marijuana. Alcohol, Crack, Meth, & Heroin addicts waste beds more often than not, even if they think they want to get clean, they usually don't. It's not, "a marijuana addict in rehab," that causes a heroin addict to die. It's when they actually get out of rehab, after getting clean, that they end up overdosing during a relapse. That, or the DEA busts their supplier, so they have to find an alternative source & end up accidentally overdosing on something different than they're used to getting. Her son didn't want rehab so he shouldn't have gone. What he really needed was a swift kick in the pants, right out the door.

My parents took away the games as soon as I started to get upset and that taught me to stay calm and it's just a game I can try again if I couldn't pass a level.
      Also who keeps buying the games? YOU. You can't blame your kid when you are enabling his behaviour by buying more games and not even attempting to deal with his addiction. Just take away the games and don't buy new ones until your son learns to control himself.

      I'm never going to understand why american parents kick out their kids as soon as they hit 18 years old some parents even let their kids go homless for years. It's better for them to move back home after college because it's much easier financially. The kid gets a job and gives some money to their parents, saves up the rest and in return the kid doesn't have to worry about what they are going to eat the next day or how are they going to pay rent with their measly paychecks that's barely enough to by food.
