When is the last time when somebody asked you to drive them home in a game? (Test Drive Unlimited 2)

- I love that the game had such "passive" mission implemented into it.
No timer, no pressure, just pure driving experience for the joy of exploration (with reward).
Only shame she was a mute, but they (NPCs) always do comment when you're driving like a maniac crashing everywhere.
The map (i know thechnically two) so big that you will hardly ever explore it whole even though you will be trying to, and the gps is actually mapping where have you been before or not, so that you can try to alway drive roads previously unexplored - remembering what you did last time even once you're back the next.
Such basic concepts totally ignored or done incompetentely in "new" driving games. What a shame.
And this is exactly why I keep coming back to this game even after all those years, after it pretty much died (even though for me it was never dead in the first place)... I still remember the day I got this masterpiece shortly after it came out and I was stunned, I felt like a kid on christmas eve!
Yeah, the physics may be crap, there may be more other bugs, it may be kinda hard to make it work properly nowadays, but I don't really care... For a game from 2011 it is simply brilliant!
It's always about the little things... Working indicators, police chases that actually make you try pretty hard at times, these little missions where you gotta take someone home, sometimes you gotta drive slowly and carefully to not make them sick, another time you're delivering a supercar to a service check... There's car washes where you can go, you go on a scavenger hunt for wrecks, you take photos of nice places while exploring, then all the houses you can buy AND CUSTOMISE the interior, same goes for clothes and the seemingly unlimited choices and attention to detail when you're giving your character a new look... And last, but not least - the HUGE open world where you can go pretty much anywhere you please, be it on road or off road...
Possibly more than half of those things many people would not expect from a title that's sold as a racing game, but that is what I think sold it best - it's MUCH more than just racing... And it's still legendary today, 13 years later... It just makes one wonder if we're ever gonna have the same feeling while playing a new game as we had playing TDU2 for the first time? But I guess today's world just works like this... Just spit out titles that are basically copy & paste as quick as possible to make money... There's just no soul in most newer games, by far not the kind that TDU2 still has...
I'm really waiting for TDU:SC despite the bad critics about the demo, those TDU games does attention to details like no others. I'm no TDU fan, but that's something we need back
@@loner2323 Oh yes, I'm so excited for SC's release! I did give the demo a go as well, it was not really special in any way, only hinted a little bit about some things and it does feel like there are gonna be some disappointments, but we gotta keep in mind that it is just that - a demo... So there's still a lot to wait for, or at least that's what I like to think...
In any case, we totally need these things back, because attention to details is exactly what made games great back in the day... I don't think good graphics are something jaw dropping nowadays, the game simply needs something that will make it stand out... And if it's at least a little bit like the old TDUs, it will have exactly that...

The Fuel Gauge says Diesel but the revs go as high as a gas car. Literally unplayable
You can also drive hitchhikers and top models from A to B in the previous game, but good luck with the strange vehicle handling.
