This is such an excellent run-down. Very helpful and if it included video screen grabs of each application to demonstrate the narrative, that would absolutely take it to the next level.

Wow, thanks! I have Windows 11 and Duplicate Cleaner 5 sounds like just what I need to clean things up. Already watched your in-depth video on that too. I'm now subscribed to your channel and will be watching more of your content since I've got to organize photos and dedupe iCloud storage too. So much to do! Great that you found it useful. As for you images getting online, with these programs, they all are downloaded to your computer and you run it from your computer. So if your photos are on your computer they stay just there, no loading any cloud is needed, so you are safe. 😁

Amanda, is there a software that I can tell it to go through the complete computer ??? and also hidden photos ???
Hey, I assume you are looking for anything duplicate, then Gemini 2 is a good option for a whole computer and if you have a Mac CleanMyMac is a good option to clean it but not for finding duplicate photos. For hidden photos double check the setting but most apps will struggle with this! Sorry!
Excellent very good, I have iMAC but hundreds of duplicates in google photos which software duo I need? 🤩
So when it comes to Google Photos, there actually is no software that I have found yet that will scan in Google Photos to look for duplicates. Google does say that they scan for duplicates as photos load up, but as you have found that is not always perfect. Unfortunately, the only way I have found to get around this is to download (with a lot of patience) the Google account, use PhotoSweeper to find the duplicates, delete the Google Photos account and reload, messy I know. I will continue to search for a better option.. I will not be beaten by this issue 😁

To find photos you can search with finder or windows by limiting it to finding images. For having a good dig into your images you then find and seeing them all for free, you can't get better than Adobe Bridge.

Can Duplicate Guru find Duplicates by image rather than the file name?
Yes it can, just select Picture as the Application Mode, if you select More Options you can play around with the closeness of the matches you want to find. It does a pretty decent job of finding the duplicates considering it is free!! 😁

Amanda but no one is telling us why the imac is duplicating I dont shaRE PHOTOS AND VIDEOS OF MY FAMILY YET THEY ARE DUPLICATED WITHOUT REASON ???? SO ANNOYING
Hey, that does sound very annoying, there is one thing that might be worth a check is to make sure none of your apps like WhatsApp are saving photos to your camera roll, you could be getting duplicates from there... check out my video on how to find and delete photos on your phone I explain a top tip on how to stop it!

I'm fascinated by the way your eyes indicate something you're about to stress or have just stressed. First off I thought there was something on the ceiling which was bugging you, but I quickly discovered the upward look was tied to what your were saying. Really handy for a deaf person to know when something is a little out of the ordinary. Actually they work for both negative words like : Never, don't, No, etc, Or positive words such as happy, always, great etc. I wonder if your husband has cottoned onto it yet?

@@amandalittlecott 750gb got it down to 300gb did a second scan just for photos got it down to 270gb, but then I used Google's picasa to look through the collection and found a lot of unique photos got deleted, so I'm back to square one. Have to do it again

Sorry that you didn't find what you were looking for, but I would say out of all these programmes Duplicate Cleaner Pro that is only for the PC and is the one I use all the time. I hope you take the time to check it out. 😁
@@amandalittlecott i understand that you want to make the video as long as possible, but you should have made a separate video for mac and windows.. so as to not waste the time of both users who would have to watch content that is irrelevant for them.. who cares if you featured the best of the best for mac, when im a windows user??? i hope you get the point

So there are 2 options to check first... WhatsApp saving to your phone is the biggest pain for adding duplicates so switch that off. Or if you upload photos from different sources like a camera and then Google Drive, then they appear! But yes, a never-ending battle!
@@amandalittlecott there seems to be confusion, i likely did not explain correctly......i take video on a galaxy A03 and it quads when i upload to computer....when i record on OBS , it doubles.....i do not have whatsapp, whatever that is

@@jonnygrowlately ooo that sounds totally weird and VERY annoying. I would definitely recommend one of these tools to get rid of them, they will make life totally easier. For stopping it, I would check the recording settings on OBS, like is it recording as mkv and then remuxing (just a thought), on the Galaxy is it auto backing up everything when you connect to the computer, everytime you connect, rather than just the new stuff? Just a few thoughts. Always happy to help 😁
