    Hi Nathan, Fantastic video thank you for sharing, I have a 2012 3.0 Diesel Porsche Cayenne, auto transmission, it recently lost its transmission fluid due to corrosion /damage to the transmission coolant radiator, a warning of overheating of the gearbox came up on the dash stopped the car immediately, got it picked up by a tow truck it went onto vehicle no problem but it would not reverse not even pushing it, it has had the corroded part replaced and new transmission oil; no problem going forward still no reverse. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated :)

    Another great Cayenne video. Planning on doing this maint soon (I have an automatic - would love it if it were manual, but they can be hard to find) - would love to see a DIY transmission service, as I think it's more than just changing the fluid (isn't there a fluid filter and some magnets?). Great tip on the servo - I expect to use the 4WD at least once a year for snow and such in Colorado.

    Hey, my friend has a 957 Cayenne Turbo. The turbos want bad, so we dropped the engine/Trans/front axle to replace them.
    Some of the studs we had to weld a nut on extract.
    Anyway, the rest went fine and everything is assembled properly, but we are having trouble bleeding the brakes (done 10 times on each brake)
    We also get a permanent fault code:
    17099, P0715 - Input Turbine Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction
    We have checked that everything was connected properly, and it is.
    Do you think that the welding could have messed up the sensor? No power was present as the whole unit was on the ground.
    Cheers

    2006 Cayenne S Titanium with 162K miles on it. Driving home from work everything seemed ok just occasionally when coasting, when I gave gas it shimmied between downshifting or just staying in gear and it activates the AWD faulty light came on but drove normal still. Today it shimmied and downshifted but retained a shudder under acceleration. Cardan shaft is fine it feels like it is inside the transmission because coasting it goes away but with power the shudder returns. The AWD light eventually came on but I get no OBD fault codes. Can this be just from low fluid or dirty filter or more serious?

  • @obiwan4426
    @obiwan4426 Před 3 lety

    I’m having issues when coasting under very little power then apply power. There’s a bit of a pause and transferring power to the wheels. You can actually feel it as a bit of a third when you put on the acceleration. Would this be the card and shaft possibly? Maybe the CV joint on the shaft?

    • @fcpeuro
      @fcpeuro  Před 3 lety

      Chances are it's not the Cardan Shaft or the CV. The Cardan shaft bearing failure results in a very loud knocking and heavy vibration, so hard you can't drive the car much over a few miles an hour if it fails completely. How many miles are on your Cayenne? Any warning lights or stored fault codes? It could be related to the Guibo/drive shaft flex disc potentially, assuming no other codes or faults.

    • @fcpeuro
      @fcpeuro  Před 3 lety

      You'll want to compare the part number they're offering! If you find the 957 version starts with a 957 part number and not 955, you know right away it's not compatible, if it starts with a 955 but has a different revision number, you can assume it may physically fit, but we would be unable to verify performance

    If my car has 90k miles on it (over 30k recommended transmission service) and has never had the transmission serviced, would servicing it right now myself be a bad idea?

    • @fcpeuro
      @fcpeuro  Před 3 lety +2

      Hey George, thanks for your question! Generally speaking, you should be ok at that mileage, and as a rule, we would almost always recommend choosing to do the service over not doing the service, as you may still avoid some major issues in the future. Basically, if you don't change it, it will develop issues for sure. If you do change it, chances are it will be fine, but as the miles get higher there is the *chance* it may break some varnish free and give you some issues. If that were to happen, doing an additional change or two (taking advantage of the FCP Euro Lifetime Replacement Guarantee) could help to flush out any contaminants that had been broken free, and hopefully resolve the issue.

    We got our kardan shaft bearings replaced as warranty claim approved it, but there is a “jimmy fix” for it if you are on a budget or want a better fix. Search it on Cayenne forums for the jimmy fix. Btw love FCP, I actually have the auto transmission filter kit being shipped at this moment. We changed fluids about 50k kms ago, that made the transmission better possibly saving myself a valve body rebuild. So I will change the fluids again soon. But I think I need to buy a pump to push the fluid up, can FCP put a link for that?

    • @adrianlatifeci2324
      @adrianlatifeci2324 Před 3 lety

      I honestly would do it , it’s a myth that your transmission will get damaged by changing it , your damaging the transmission having the old fluid in

    • @fcpeuro
      @fcpeuro  Před 3 lety

      As Adrian mentioned, making the change is usually a preferred recommendation regardless of miles, but saying that, 187,000 is definitely up there. Nathan's experience with the recommended mileage intervals is based on his experience working at independent German car specialists. He says that although rare, a higher mileage VW/Audi/Porsche automatic developing problems after a fluid change is something he has seen happen. It is not expected but isn't out of the realm of possibilities. The penalty of course in not changing it is that it will 100% developed problems at some point, so changing it may help prevent that.

    If ATF service is recommended at 60K miles as to 160K than whats the benefit of promoting Liqui Molly as to Mobil ATF 3309. Mobil ATF 3309 9qts is way cheaper and reliable fluid. For kicks it has Flying Horse stamped right on it. Just saying if you own a Porsche have an engenering mindset which usually equates to common sense. I would be sold if he said Molly extends service interval to avoid all the issues he stated. Just another promotion of fancy fluid with scare tectic.
