Taking my Hangkai 12hp outboard to the water for the first time

  • I purchased this motor back in October of last year, and I finally get to take it into the water now in January. It has been a busy CZcams season for me, so I want to thank you all for your patience and understanding. Now, the motor, Holy Eternal Flame!!!! It freaking rocks!!! And I am not saying this just because. I am saying because it is awesome. Super smooth while revving it, it is noisy, but does not shake your hand. During idle it does shake a bit, but it is not uncomfortable to hold the tiller. The most impressive thing of all about this motor, you see, I used to own a 9.8hp Tohatsu 4 stroke, that it cost me about 2,100 smackaroons, while this Hangkai only cost me 1,000 schmickels "I'm trying to be edgy imitating Rick&Morty quotes". Now, here's the kicker, my old 9.8 was about 90 pounds or so heavy, the hangkai is about 60 pounds, just like my 6hp Tohatsu, but it's pumping a lot of power, and I can't believe that something this light can perform the way it does. I am going to make a second video review when I camp again on one of the islands, hoping the waters are not too rough, because I want to see how much gas it uses. I could not do that with just 10 miles ran. Final thought, I just can't believe a motor like this can be this good for the price I paid. 10/10 in my opinion.

    Typically inflatable boats are hard to get up to substantial speed. On fuel consumption you can get a 2.5 gallon standard fuel can and premix fuel so you don't run out of fuel. Looks like beautiful area and possibly good fishing. 73 Earnest K5EWM.

      @@ErickMartinSucre I hear you. Here in Southeast Texas, camping is fun too, with 1 major drawback. (.Mosquitoes), that will haul you off. LoL. Im planning on getting the 18 hp version with the short tail shaft as my boat has the short transom. Enjoy both the camping and your new Hankai outboard. 73 and GOD bless, Earnest K5EWM. PS those islands would make great location for amateur radio hf portable setup. The solitude from electrical interference 👍. Also the water would give your tx signal an incredible positive performing bounce (reflection upward into the inonaspere ((heavens to reflect back downward in other parts of the world)) ). Real DX. 73 Earnest K5EWM.

    Hey Eric,
    Have you had any air leaks in your boats or air-floors yet? I sealed my Mars 12.5' last year and am resealing the air-floor today. Since the floor is 10 psi & flat it's more difficult to seal than the boat.
    Just thought you might do a video about sealing inflatables when you get an air leak.

    • @ErickMartinSucre
      @ErickMartinSucre  Před 7 měsíci

      I had one recently on the floor. Small leak and easy to patch

    • @glennr9913
      @glennr9913 Před 7 měsíci

      @@ErickMartinSucre My leaks have tended to be at the seams and where the tape overlaps. I'm hoping inflatable boat sealant will fill them because patches would be difficult to apply in those areas.

This one needs a bit more attention to the break-in, and mixing the gas with oil, but you get the same power on a lighter package. I'm gonna make a video this weekend for the things to look out for on these outboards.
