    Love your channel, using it to help my husband bulk up veggie style! Just a little tip from a baker: When placing the granola on the pan make a donut shape of granola, the hole in the middle will ensure more even baking, bake for ~30 minutes, just until lightly browned, don't stir it, let it cool completely on the pan to dry out, I think it makes it more cluster-y! Granola-lover for life!

    • @jwmiles
      @jwmiles Před 6 lety

      nDenTz_MotionZz trujillo - eat some carbs and measure your glucose it will rise, eat fat and it won’t. Ancel Keys research was flawed and is killing people. When you’re diabetic your body is burned out and can’t process sugars adequately. If you want to reverse the damage caused by being a diabetic you should fuel your body with fat. Also check out type III diabetes which is now being referred to as dementia and Alzheimer’s.

      Hi I'm Lana - Once upon a time, a scientist named Ancel Keys did an awful thing. He published a study about different countries that made it look like heart disease was associated with fat intake. But the truth was that he started out with 22 countries and just tossed out the ones that didn’t fit his hypothesis! When other researchers analyzed his data using all the original countries, the link between fat and heart disease totally vanished. Keys was a fraud, and he’s the reason my mom made me eat skim milk and Corn Chex for breakfast instead of delicious bacon and eggs. LET HIS SOUL BURN. BURN! BUUUUUURN!

      I guess the Yeti is a good choice since it does not require an external sound card. Make sure to set the preamp knob at a point where it does not overdrive the signal(Sound check with the loudest voice volume and set right before peak). Also some compression as a sound post-proccesing method could be a real help to bring out definition in speakage effortlesly. It's pretty basic really, if you have any questions I would be more than proud to be of help. Great vid as always!

    Just an FYI. I made this recipe, but I was out of dates, instead I used about 150 g of fresh blueberries blended, no need to add water there is plenty of water in the blueberries. It was so good. Cooking time was the full first 20 min then at about 12 minutes after the flip. You could probably use frozen blueberries too if you defrosted them.

Everytime I attempt granola is gets too burned 😂 I like big chunks of granola and so I didn’t break it up too much, but next time I make it I’ll break it up more. I’ve found that leaving too many “bark” like chunks resulted in granola that wasnt as crispy

    The problem with roasting high fat/high protein foods is that advanced glycation end products are formed. You touched on this in one of your Ask me mondays vids where a guy asked about peanut butter being healthy or not, to which you replied that Michael Greger has said that the problem with peanut butter is that the peanuts are roasted in a majority of all the brands. Raw peanut butter on the other hand, is fine, and this obviously applies to all nuts and seeds.
    Maybe there is a certain temperature that would be OK to use for roasting nuts and seeds, but I haven't been able to find any information on that. Some sources state that oils such as olive or canola should not be used for cooking at temperature above around 175 degrees celsius (~350F), and this may apply for nuts and seeds as well.
    Maybe you have some more information on the subject? Enjoying your videos by the way, keep up the work :)

    Wow! Need to make this. Maybe putting in some proteinpowder for vanilla flavour since i do not have vanilla powder. Derek please teach us how to make flapjacks without sugar. I Love them but they are so full of sugar. 😟

    Hell yeah. Thanks Derek. What about a video on different spice combo's for when you sautee up your onions/garlic/ginger/beans. I feel like I'm stuck in the land of cummin/corriander/cinnamon/paprika. Need some variation 🤔

    Ah this is great! I normally make mine very similar, but I blend the dates with a super ripe banana instead of water. Definitely gonna use your aproach of breaking up the granola before you bake it for another 20 min!

    Hey Derek! Just wanted to say that i just became a new subscriber to your channel a little over a week ago from following maddie's channel and felt the need to say how much i love your videos! I really love how you incorporate calisthentics into your channel as well and really show how easy it is to workout without needing a gym just by taking advantage of whats around us. Think that's really cool and your videos are entertaining! In a good way :)

    Hey Derek! I just thought of a video recommendation. I was thinking you make a video where you show us how to make 3 different kinds of protein snacks. Sometimes I am unsure of what to eat post workouts or while I’m drinking my protein shake. Thanks, stay strong💪

    I'm obsessed with granola! Every time I make it, my mom says "uh oh" bc we both know it's not going to last long! I never thought of blending dates instead of using maple syrup- looks so good and so crunchy! Thank you for sharing! Quite a dangerous recipe though ;) Easily devoured. I know this is weird but I also like that spoon you used... ahahaha And a park that's not too too far from me just renovated and built in a calisthenic bar type park! How amazing! Can't wait for summer now- even though I can't do a single pull-up, I have a vision of me doing pull-ups with a weighted vest! It's gonna happen!

    Derek in the description section it says 300 degrees celcius, and that's what I did... I realized pretty quickly that it was too hot so only a little bit of the granola burnt ;) the rest turned out delicious though!
