I go to a public school and there is a lot of people saying racial slurs, the food is disgusting, and some of the teachers suck. I haven't really learned much and the teachers are also underpayed that some had to quit and go to a public school. I don't like the school basically.

Honestly online learning has its own issues as well. I was in college when covid was happening and it was convenient but the lack of face to face learning with human interaction really didn’t help me and other students stay motivated to learn when we didn’t take the time to go somewhere with other students and be at a place with little distractions and just learning going on. But if that works for you, awesome

This is can totally relate to. As a kid who was raised around this system. My kids won't go to private schools, ever. Another problem with the system is that certain schools get more acceptance rates into IVY league schools. So going to certain "private" schools is more for the next level of schooling too rather than the private school itself. You are paying for a higher accepted into IVY league schools... in short, the school system is f. up.

I’ve gone to 3 different private schools in my life. Only one of them was about as effed up as in the video, and surprise surprise it was the only non-religious one. The other 2 I never had any problems with whatsoever, so definitely not all private schools are that bad, as they said in the beginning of the video.. I assume you also had a bad experience with one which sucks :(

It’s honestly so interesting hearing about your experience with private schools. My family went through similar stuff with the Catholic school i went to elementary at (btw I’m up in Canada). Not only was there bad things I was seeing kids doing at that school but also what the teachers were teaching us. My parents took my brother and I out of school and started homeschooling us. Later in high school we went to an online school which was amazing. Currently I’m studying Business Marketing at a very well known and good post-secondary institute and I’ve got a job. If I had stayed in school and if my parents didn’t care about me and care about what I was learning I probably would’ve grown up into an absolute a-hole who didn’t appreciate what I was given. But because of the sacrifices my parents made teaching my brother and I…I have nothing but respect for them and I thank God every day that they did what they did.
Sorry for that rant 😅 …point is I respect the decision you both made on raising your kids. So many parents out there today really don’t pay attention and care about how their kid grows up. You two clearly do and that’s amazing to see.

This is such a real and important message that u guys are sending, as a high school student myself, I know how important it is to actually feel safe in the school environment you're in in order to actually study and not feel burnt out. It is also so common for people to think that spending more money gets u better quality, whether in education or simply in shopping for your daily needs. Seeing how you guys put your morals and the mental health of your kids first is something so wonderful and inspirational, shedding light on such topics is still considered taboo sometimes for lots of creators, so the fact that you stood up for what you know is right is just awesome. I started to get bad grades and my teacher told my mom I wasn't doing my homework or turning it in when I in fact doing it and turning it in but no one would listen to me, it was a teachers word against a 3rd graders but that all stopped when my mom found my homework in my teachers trash can by her desk while cleaning my classroom and I was pulled out of school that day.

Last year a senior SA a girl and traumatized her so much that she couldn’t bring herself to attend school events such as prom. She finally worked up the courage to tell administration and was told that the situation would be let go because “consent is a grey area”. His parents were lawyers who donated thousands of dollars every year. Worst of all, he was given the outstanding student award at their graduation. I hate it here and I cannot wait to graduate.

This is actually something that my husband and I discuss a lot when it comes to the education of our son and future child. He grew up going to private school while I grew up going to public school. He and his mom would tell me about how he was bullied a lot and the administration wouldn't do anything about it because his bullies came from well do to families. He finally had enough and got into a physical fight with one, he won, and of course he got in trouble. Suffice it to say, his parents pulled him out and put him in public school where he ended up flourishing. Anytime he thinks about wanting to put our kids in private school, I remind him of his experiences and tell him that I feel they'd do better in public school for the time being.

I appreciate your candor, and your clear desire to be careful in what you say and not speak over or erase someone else's experience. I can only speak anecdotally myself, but I will say that the stories of private school behavior I've heard are far more akin to what your children experienced than something, I dunno, pleasant or even remotely positive. More than that, it's far from a new phenomenon; a lot of similar stuff, and worse, has been described in old-fashioned British boarding schools. We need continued discussion about better methods of education and discouraging negative attitudes and behavior, and I applaud you for opening a little door (and I say little only because others have been talking about this for some time) to that. It's important to talk about.

When there was a break they were waiting for me to get out of the classroom, as soon as this happened they caught me and beat me badly, I couldn't go to school for a week, I was beaten so badly. My parents went in to complain, but the teachers and the principal didn't do anything, they just shrugged their shoulders and said so much that it's none of their business, the children have to settle this among themselves. It was a big trauma in my life and I was, I don't know, 13-14 years old. I'm glad that nothing physical happened to your children. You are very good parents. I love your content. ❤

This year I started online learning for a similar reason. There were these 4 girls who were the worst of the worst. They would threaten me, say absolutely discussing things, straight to my face, they just wanted to make a life horrible. Once that year ended I talked to my mom about moving into online classes, since then I’ve never looked back. My mom is still a teacher at that school and ever since those 4 girls left the school, it has apparently gotten a lot better.
(the 4 girls were not in my class by the way, I did have lunch with them, free time with them, saw them in the halls, etc.)
The people who were in my class were absolutely amazing people though (and so were my teachers)
Anyways, I will be moving to a new state this summer where online school isn’t a thing in the county. So I will most likely be home schooled by my mom. (This is because the education system where I will be moving is HORRIBLE!)
I’m so glad your kids are okay and I hope they will never have to go through something like that ever again.

i’m in a public school and i would say it’s similar in a way because schools hide things for their reputation. in my school so many things have happened but the school continues to cover up so that they can look good.

This video is very relatable because I’ve wanted to leave my school but I couldn’t because my parents won’t understand what goes on at school. Yes they deal with bullies and give good educations, but some of these private schools may force they’re beliefs on to you and you might not believe in the same things. I’m not saying every private school does this but the one I’m in does, they straight up will say “ if you don’t believe in (the religion) you will go to hell.” There are little children in this school and that will impact them. Even now at my age that impacted me a lot, and now I can’t change how I feel. This video made me so happy that finally someone shared their experience about privates schools on this platform. So thank you so much for making this video! ❤

This is absolutely terrible to hear and I’m sorry to hear about all this. What I’ve come to find out is that in private schools, you “expect” that the more money you pay, the more safe everyone “should be”. They recognize “safety, inclusion, equal rights, blah blah, etc.” and that is all crap because in institutions like that, the parents of these entitled kids pay money to sweep any “incidents” under the rug and it’s disgusting. You guys were absolutely right pulling the kids out of school. Gabby and Mr Bee are such amazing kids, you can tell they were and are raised by you two so amazingly well. Sometimes I feel people who grow up from nothing learn to appreciate life and others so much better vs kids who grew up privileged and having literally everything, never having to work or do anything a day in their life. You guys did what was right for both of the kids’ safety.
This is a shame on myself but I went to a private school from elementary school all the way up to 8th grade. All one school so you would literally grow up around the same people. They were great sure but looking back I saw so many problems. There were the typical bullies, and we had so many issues with a specific student/s that we had to have several assemblies regarding assault/attacking/bullying, and our school even banned everyone wearing hoodies because that said student had a “habit” of wanting to choke people and joke around. Not only that, I had a very very rough time in middle school, I struggled in school a lot. looking back, I kept falling behind in school and just could not keep up BUT do you know what the school did? They set up a meeting with my mom, who’s English was her 2nd language so she had to bring her friend to help translate. The school teachers asked MY mom what was going on at home as if I spent more time at home than at school 🤦🏼‍♀️ I was with them for probably 10+ years. There’s no way no one would have noticed I was falling behind and struggling every single day. Did they try and help me, giving me extra classes, etc? Nope. All the teachers would say as their excuse is “we always tell her to come to office hours and she never does”. I was struggling beyond help , not just in school but at home. This is my biggest shame so here I go. I was struggling so much both at home and at school, unable to find my feelings or anything that I resorted to stealing money from other kids’ backpacks to buy candy from the vending machine. It wasn’t because we couldn’t afford it. Granted my mom wouldn’t let me buy Candy. I still don’t know why I did it. The teachers definitely knew, at least some of them because when they started seeing that I would try to hang around the cubby areas after the bell rang, I once caught a few of them monitoring me. But guess what, did anyone talk to me about this behavior or reprimand me? No. Did anyone contact my MOM about this issue? Absolutely not. There were definitely issues then and because I never got help with my learning disability, severe anxiety, etc when I was in elementary/middle school, I’ve had ti pay for that. I’ve gone through so much the last few years, having had bouts of suicidal thoughts and very negative thoughts, having very big ups and downs (possible bipolar), struggling to make friends, maintain any friendship, struggling to go anywhere without shutting down, and so much more. All because they never caught my struggles early enough to send me to get tested or help

It’s rough at times, but God has always provided, you start seeing the fruit of your labor as you continue to pour into your kids, especially poring into them Godly values. Schools have changed so much and they aren’t the same compared to when I was in public school. My kids have no problem with socializing and enjoy the freedom also of being home and getting their work done at their pace and learning the way they like to learn.

As an African American male from the inner city going to a school where "better opportunities" seemed to be present; and also because I was an asthmatic, and our local schools did not have good air conditioning, I can relate to this. Yes, it was a very nice school, but I was bullied there constantly; from the other black students who accused me of trying to "be white," to some of the Caucasian students (not all, I will be clear of that) teasing me accusing me of only being there because they allowed us to be there.

First, I hope for a speedy recovery from these mental trauma caused by ppl with no humility.
All my life, my goal was to send my future children to a private school. I now have a 6y/o son and still thought about working hard putting him in a private school because I thought too that he would come out well educated and better overall. But now hearing your testimony, I would just rather keep him homeschooled. My son's overall health is waaay more important than putting him in a private school. Thank you for sharing, but I now believe if that private school is about money, I think all private school would be the same and protect the student and their families if it means the school is getting "generous" donations from them.

As soon as I heard mama bee say “and they threatened to, I don’t know if I can say this word” I immediately understood what she meant and I felt sick to my stomach. As a girl who is 13 years old and is in a hard school/social situation right now, it sucks how cruel and disgusting other teenagers can be and I understand the struggle.

I am home educated and it is amazing. As soon as my mum deregistered me all my anxiety went. In UK there are so much places to explore and meet other home educated children around your age. There are funds to set up groups and expeditions. You're not isolated as people stereotype. It is 10000x better than getting programmed and mentally abused in a classroom by a total stranger that is classed as a teacher. How can you even get taught with stress? Advantages with home ed is studying and focusing on what you want rather than parrot fashion by a school curriculum that 95% you wont need for the real world. Go on then teacher, teach us about financial problems, taxes, mortgages, how to buy a house and understand documents and paperwork, you won't and you cant due to that curriculum you're needing to hold up in order to get paid. The striking crisis in schools prove they dont like their job. Home ed is the way forward. School is what is thought as a structured way of learning even though I have learnt so much from home Ed, not just education but the real world. Children in the class do not help either. The bullying in the school I used to be at was vile and the 'alpha male leaders of the class' bullied all the girls and booted footballs at the girl. When she fell to the floor and started to cry, the head mistress sent her home with a slip saying "got hit by a football accidently" the teachers do not help. School is terrible, a waste of energy and stress creating and depression making. Prove me wrong, it's impossible.

  • @georgehoward-white9660

Mama and papabee, thank you for sharing something so relatable. I to haven't had the best experience with the private education system. A lot of broken promises and lack of commitment was made regarding my learning support and how the schools I went to dealt with bullying. I to have seen bullies get rewarded for their academic acheivements and contributions to their school and seen the lack of parenting, humbility and respect or air of entitlement some of my peers had. One of the schools has even been in a negative limelight because of how some students have conducted themselves with young women and how some members of staff have conducted themselves with students. So yes, I agree. All that glitters is not gold.
