  • Today's video of the K24 Swapped RX8 we clean up the engine bay, put in the throw out bearing/adapter, and attempt to fit the motor in. Sorry it took so long to get the second video up. I hope you all enjoy!

    Sorry you didn't do some research before because there are a couple ways to approach this project. Sub-frame (mine had foam in it) will need to be cut out a little for clearance. Based on what I see you have there the dash will have to be removed along with heater core so you can cut into the firewall for clearance (I wanted AC so I didn't cut back too far into mine, instead I placed a 1 1/4" solid steel spacer between the drive shaft and Diff. then I cut the manual tail shaft and diff support in half and extended it just enough to get my desired clearance)... Love your clutch setup and FYI the wiper assembly doesn't need to be removed as all cutting should be below it. Take your time on the build and stay focus because it's a lot of work but driving it with a K.series (turboed in my case) is worth the experience. Looking forward to your next upload

      Yeah, my next part is to remove the dash and cut more of the firewall, we know the subframe will have to be cut we just pulled the subframe for now until I get the correct alignment out of it. I've tried doing some research but not a whole lot of information I can find, unless I am looking in the wrong place. Do you have any videos or pictures? Thanks for the comment!

    Can't wait for the next video ! I'm actually doing this swap myself and I already have my motor and all my mounts on the way, I have no idea what I'm doing but I'm just jumping in head first because I wanted to do something different too. Not too much videos out there that explain all the steps like you're doing here.

      Awesome dude! I am really enjoying the build as well. However, some stuff has come up that is making me put the build on hold. Hopefully it isn't too long, but I'm about to make a video explaining it as well. In the meantime, I just discovered someone else doing this build and his CZcams is Matt 6Berries if you want to check him out as well.

      @@FlareGard I'll do a video of mine soon, more or a track car have removed a lot of factory gear and running bmw rack. Can lower the factory rack and run the trigger wheel to retain all the factory gear.
      Dry sump or cut a bit out of subframe for the sump as others have said some good photos online.
      Other than that I'm just running haltech and simplifying the engine and car it's a easy swap

    U building my fav car and u also play my fav games escape from tarkov (chiki briki) and valorant (im a mountaain 😂) ma man , i ve a question im thinking about buying honda prelude s 1998 for 2000$ and an rx8 for 7000$ and swap everything from the honda to rx8 by a professional , my only concern is buying another expensive parts im relying on honda prelude parts (ecu , aircooler , fwd differential and removing the rwd one..etc) will it work ?

    • @FlareGard
      @FlareGard  Před 3 lety

      I actually have pit my build on hold. I moved, and am building a shop so all of my funds are going into that for now. As for the swap, I haven't got that far into it. But I know there are some complications to using a different ecu than the RX8's for your steering and clusters to work correctly. However, I may have found some ways to get around them. Just haven't actually done the work yet so I can't say 100% that it works. I can give you that information if you reach out to me tomorrow.

    K24rx8.com will probably help you alot because it looks like you cut alot of unnecessary firewall. Also engine needs to tilt to exhaust side aka abs should be fine where its at.

    • @FlareGard
      @FlareGard  Před 3 lety +1

      Nice dude, thank you. It actually looks like I've got about the same cut out on my firewall as this, and I wasn't sure about the ABS just yet because I haven't got the manifold on, I was thinking with it, it might have to be relocated but looking at those pictures it should be fine. I do however want to go further into the firewall from what I already have. Thanks again for that link, I need to read up on it some more.

    • @FlareGard
      @FlareGard  Před 3 lety +1

      Also upon reading his blog, it looks like he's using a different head. We are using the RBB head and he's using a K20z1 which gives him more clearance. Subtle differences between the two builds. But should be relatively close.

    • @em2attic
      @em2attic Před 3 lety

      @@FlareGard yea definitely close, but glad it could help you see more of a vision than before. I know the fit is very very tight but i really want to find a way to get a ac compressor in there even if i have to raise the motor about an inch just to fit it in there im cool with that.

    • @FlareGard
      @FlareGard  Před 3 lety

      @@em2attic are you using the RX8 transmission? I think there was about an inch or two play when I was just in there looking around so it's doable! Let me know what you end up doing!

      If it's anything like the one I ordered it doesn't come with the tool to, so you will need to find the tool with the proper splines. I found mine at the local auto store though at the time.

      I plan on doing this. But with an RX7 transmission. I'm doing the swap in an FD. Just like you. I'm keeping the same trans, PPF, nothing modified in the back. Not messing with drivetrain or anything like that. I think it's better in my opinion
