@@Norris83 Its done, its just that Rice has been on holiday and will fly to the US tomorrow, so they only have today for the PR team to make a video etc. Its official when the contracts are signed, the announcement is a formality that follows later. WH stated they havd been signed, and Rice himself has posted a goodbye on Insta

It's quite simple. If Saudi gives us at least 45m AND we are able to buy another high level midfielder (Caicedo, Tchouameni, Lavia, etc.) than we will sell Partey. But we need both or he won't leave.

Unless the price is over 80 mn for caicedo i dont see arsenal cooling there interest in him, why would we bid that amount in jan and suddenly cool our interest 6 months later for no reason. Rice was always the priority in the summer. Doesn't change our stance on caicedo. Caicedo will complete our squad. Hooe we can get him.

I think we are very much out of the Caicedo race becoz reckless spenders Chelsea and Yoonited also strongly interested to sign him.He could end up being the most expensive transfer this season surpassing Rice.
Think he was only a backup if Rice didn't go through. Lavia more likely as an option once we've made some sales.

I doubt Arsenal will go for Caicedo, as if he comes he will be a sure starter, with him Rice and Odegaard forming the Central Midfield. It will mean Havertz will be a £65M bench player. Highly improbable.

Tom I am really surprised that Arsenal haven't gone for a 20goal a season striker cause Jesus is not enough and why are we only interested in Right-Backs and Midfielders in this Transfer Window and not going for any Attacker's ?? Jesus got 11 goals last season and missed half the season, I think we'll be fine in that regard for this season. That'll be for next season where we can drop a substantial portion of our entire budget on just a world class striker. We're not going to spend that amount of money in this window on top of what we've already spent. Toney isn't the level we want and need to take us up another level, at best he's a sideways step and I think even that's being generous.

@@BOSSBUBLA Him being second to Kane is fairly meaningless. It's a massive drop off. 33% less goals. We want a world class striker. Toney is not world class. He only scored 2 more goals than Callum Wilson last year. I wouldn't want either. Toney has had one good season, this is just recency bias. The season before he scored 12, just one more than Jesus this season who, again, missed half the season with injury. It's a sidewards step at best.
Just to highlight the weakness of the argument go to the season previous and i'll make a similar argument, let me know if it makes any sense for you. "We should go for Vardy. After Kane, he is the second best English striker." Let's do the same thing again but using the 20/21 season. "We should go for Patrick Bamford. He's England's next best goal scorer after Kane."
None of these players are at the level. Only a Kane level striker elevates us. Everything else is at best a sidewards step. To buy a striker of that level is going to be prohibitive with the moves we've already made. That is for next season and will be the crowning jewel in our squad's development. We have to have patience. We can't do it all at once.

@@BOSSBUBLA Thankfully that's a problem for next season. I really want to push back on this whole we need a prolific goal scorer badly. Do we? I mean sure, if we could someone to score us an extra 20 goals a season and it not negatively affect the reason of the team, sure but that means you need a player that can do a lot of what Jesus does PLUS be adding that output. That's a £100m+ player and we just aren't getting that this season. But pushing back on your point, we literally just scored the most goals we've ever scored in a PL season and that was without our main striker for half the season. Do we really have a goal scoring problem?
If Jesus has a full season, I fully expect him to get close to 20 goals. I think if Havertz is at left 8, he'll get us more goals than Xhaka did and with our relatively young and developing team, I expect the likes of Saka especially but Martinelli and Odegaard to also increase their output. If we can maintain our levels and not have anything go catastrophically wrong, I fully believe we can break 100 goals as is. We were only 12 off it last season. I don't think even last season suggested we had a goal scoring problem but I think that'll seem even less an issue this coming season.
The only real difference this world class striker is going to make imo is this. They'll be able to get a goal when we really need to turn a result where an accumulative approach like i'm suggesting we'll have won't do any better than winning those games maybe 50/50. That is what the Haaland affect at City is and will continue to be. The second thing is that we'll blow teams out of the water more regularly and I think that will create a feedback loop of striking real fear in teams where instead of them thinking they can keep it at 1 or 2-0 and maybe get lucky, they'll simply be trying to not be embarrassed and secondly on that, it'll allow us to be so comfortable in a game early on we won't have situations like we had against Liverpool, Soton and West Ham crop up again. It'll have the added bonus of us being able to rest players better by taking them off earlier, keeping our best players fresher and giving valuable minutes to those trying to break into the team.
That's how I see it anyway.

Are you for real? Last long? Surely you can't be meaning this regarding injuries. He missed 46 games in the 17/18 season and 60 games in the 18/19 season. Then 7 & 10 in the following seasons but was out of the team because he isn't the level and isn't the type of LB that works in system's like these. Not to mention all the stuff that's been going on with him outside football. We already have one of those hanging over the club right now. Woeful recommendation for a signing imo.

He'd be a perfect left sided central midfield but arteta can't actually see this for some reason. Kt he obviously doesn't like even thought our best lb. Now he's trying with kiwior that's how desperate he is. Wouldn't be surprised if he ends up with Cedric there. Least with mendy he'd be a Squad player and he will get on with with other members of our team

Arteta doesn't 'love' a city player, he loves players that fit his system. Ours and City's is similar thus there is a greater chance they slot right in, as we've seen with Jesus and Zinny. Mendy however, doesn't fit our system for the same reason Tierney doesn't. Even before his legal troubles, Mendy wasn't getting into the City team and for the same reason he wouldn't get in ours, ever. It isn't the profile of player we want.
Arteta can't see Zinny in cm for some reason? Sorry mate but is it possible Arteta knows more about football? hahaha Like is it at all possible that he knows what he needs better than you do? Playing Zinchenko in cm is vastly different than him moving into that position from lb. He is a progressive player in the team. That's what Arteta wants, it completely revolutionised how we play and you want to get rid of that for what? For Benjamin bloody Mendy? He hasn't even kicked a ball in like 3 years.
Too short? Zinny is in the 95th percentile for aerials won. What else exactly do you want a player to do in that position? Btw Kiwior has the height and pace and is a good defender yet that's Arteta being desperate? Where is the consistency in logic? Cedric? Really? Zinny, Tomi and Kiwior. They are our lb options and it isn't out of 'desperation'. It's intentional. We bought both Tomi and Kiwior because they have the versatility to play there.
Tierney is only our best 'traditional' lb. Arteta doesn't want to play with that kind of player. I don't know how much more obvious he can make that. He doesn't want, nor do we need, a fullback who hugs the touchline and bombs up and down. We lose control in the centre of the pitch and lose our rotations between our LW and left sided 8 and our late 3rd man runs from left 8, which is what Arteta prizes much higher. Overloading the box, not the wide areas. We use wide areas to stretch. Those wide players compress again by coming inside, which you can't do with an overlapping full back. Those runs can be useful as an OPTION to provide variation and as a dummy to allow our winger to cut inside more effectively, like Ben White does with Saka but if that's ALL that full back can do then it doesn't work.
Mendy will get on with other members of our team? Where are you pulling this from? Based on what? Are you referring to Jesus and Zinny? Why? Because they played for City? I don't think our team would welcome him with open arms nor do I think Arteta would want to bring in a player with his type of character.
