UK election: Why don't we know when it is - and how will a vote be called?

  • The Rochdale by-election is probably not the last time the UK will head to the polls this year. There will most likely be a general election at some point in 2024, but we don’t know exactly when. So, why not?

they are holding off because they think throwing a few bones during the budget will make people want to vote for them, just go already

Every Tory tax cut is just more slashing of funding to public services and more councils declaring themselves bankrupt. Tories out. Before its too late.

A spring or summer election would make the most sense for the Tories. An autumn election close to the US presidential election and all its drama won't do them any favors, an election during the holidays won't be well-received, and if they run out the clock till January they'll look even more desperate to hold on to power than they already do.

Inflation is halved to 4.0% inching closer to the BOE 2% target, boat crossings are down by a third, NHS longest waiting times are down, Economy grew marginally by 0.1% year on year in 2023 despite all the predictions that it would be a year long recession. Rishi came in at the toughest period after what Liz Truss left him with and he has made significant progress over the last 15 months. The country's economy has stabalized. Best time for a tax cut of 450 pounds to ease the pressure, also welcome news that the DUP has accepted the post brexit deal which has lead to the restoration of devolved government in Northern Ireland. Great job on the smoking, disposable vaping ban and mobile phone ban for under 16s in school.

Labour won't do any better economy wise
There been failing our country for the last 30 years
      In 2000 - Pre 2008 Financial crisis.They added 1 Trillion debt
They just added debt for no reason
Not to mention Labour is pushing Net Zero
So Gas and Oil are going to rise
So Labour is very bad for the economy
But Reform UK will actually make the UK actually safe to live in
Getting rid of illegal immigrant, making Policeman actually enforce the law etc etc
And they would scrap Net Zero
So yeah. Reform UK will have as bad or slightly better economy wise then Labour but they will actually make our Country safe to live in
