    I think the purpose of the led is not only to illuminate your target in the dark but also to get the attacker to momentarily focus on the light, opening their eyes and allowing you to dose them pretty good.

      @@igotothemimestripclub6248 As someone who has the upgraded version of this gun, trust me this theory is completely false. The light is so damn bright it actually makes anyone looking to it, either shut, squint their eyes or look away completely, making it harder to hit them with the spray...Its mainly for seeing someone who might invade your house at night. I carry it in one hand, and my knife in the other tactical style, in case I somehow miss all the shots or the guy gets too close.

    I have this one. I think it is the best in class for the price. I carry it and some mini self protection"purse" pepper sprays and Bear spray. I also live in bear country and have the big $35 bear spray. The differences and comparisons. First, Bear spray is not as potent. It puts out a lot , but, not as strong on the pepper heat. It is a deterrent meant to allow the bear to get away. Second , bear spray can is very bulky and heavy. Each has it's place. The tiny "Purse" stuff is potent and best if you are face to face, or being assaulted. The bear spray has around 20' shot and is very fine mist that the wind will effect greatly. So you can drift it to the bear. This Mace gun is the "get it done" for everything. While hiking or biking with my dog I am able to stop attacks on myself or my dog from a greater distance with accuracy. The LED light is a bit weak, yet, it works great in very dark times to help with the aim. I do not carry a firearm anymore. The legal ramifications of even pulling a firearm, as defined by law, make it a liability to even carry a firearm. With a firearm you are all in, or not. With pepper sprays I can protect myself without such actions as that result in death and injury to the attacker. Legally much better than anything.

    Thank you! I'm reading on a local forum (CalGuns) where a guy pumping gas was rushed by a mugger wielding a knife. He produced some Saber Blue Dye OC sparay and dossed the mugger. I'm going to take a look at that spray as well.
    The idea of a super strong non-washable dye is a serious bonus when the police are looking for the assailant.

  • @lakecrab
    @lakecrab Před 8 lety +80

    My concern would be that the gun like appearance would be an immediate tell and a potential escalated threat signal to someone who is packing the real thing. Might be ok for a critter attack or a REAL last resort (VERY last).

    • @HominidMachinae
      @HominidMachinae Před 8 lety +10

      Exactly my thought, you are pulling a gun on someone, and you are carrying around a gun-shaped object.
      You pull a typical OC can, or better yet one of the concealed models and you don't immediately turn things into a fire fight, they may know you're going for OC or they might not, but they're not going to immediately assume shootout at the OK Corral.
      Then there's the obvious problems of carry. A co-worker notices it on you, or sees it in a purse or pocket and next thing you know you're fired for carrying a firearm at work. A cop sees this in your center console in your car, or, yes, on your bike, and you are ending up in the back of a squad car attempting to explain that no, you're not carrying a firearm. If it doesn't get you shot.

      @sammyhooligan803 Před 7 lety +6

      Yes.your right This looks like a small "Derringer" / Small caliber pistol. which could be mistaken by assailant or cops as a firearm. Depending on the situation, I say this mace pistol is a back up because of its shape. A lot of criminals carry guns now days. Match with similar weapon , is always better. And any pepper spray is good to have for last resort for non-lethal situations.

    Aside from the video GWebs put out on the pepper blaster where he shot pretty true to target none of the others could hit a target on the first shot. And while I'm sure the pepper blaster has a more "forceful" blast, being limited to two shots does not seem like a good idea.
    With controlled quick bursts we got well over seven shots per canister.

    I tested a similar looking one outside with the real stuff in it. I fired it away from me but here was a light breeze blowing towards me, I caught a wif no liquid landed on me just a light little bit of atomized spray came back, I couldn't even see it.
    I started coughing uncontrollably until I puked, so there are two messages here
    1) If you get this stuff sprayed all over you, you will probably end up in hospital.
    2) If you use this weapon hold your breath and run away as soon as you have fired or you may end up the floor as well.

    this is a good defensive non lethal weapon. I keep it easily accessible in my truck all the time.I have almost felt like i have needed it a few times so it was worth the $40. The advantage of the pappergun is the range. These shoot so much farther than traditional sprays, and with regular pepper spray you could accidently spray yourself. There are advantages and disadvantages to both, but i prefer the mace pepper gun.

    pepper sprays main value is as a compliance torture device, or as the lasd calls it, a "pain persuasion" device. thesubjectis typically already rendered nonthreatening, and the officer needs to get the suspect off the ground, or needs some measure of compliance on the part of the subject. a threat is usually uttered beforehand, such as "you"re fixin to get a face of liquid fire, buddy" as the officer shakes his canister. a determined assailant will only be enraged by pepper spray. be aware.

I live in Detroit and it's more common for me to run into some insane and/or hallucinating drug addict that thinks I'm a "White Rabbit trying to steal his Lucky Charms" (or something like that) than a criminal who actually wants to Kill Me. I think it's a great Secondary LTL weapon. The pencil stream is strong and accurate and I can use it without hesitation for possibly being charged with Murder. If they blind side me and use it against me, I'm still going home. Thumbs up from the streets of Detroit.

I had one that also sprayed a bright pink ink which I liked. It was expired and I recently just bought another one. It is just a small hand held canister but would be awfully helpful for roaming dogs, and/or assailants up to 10 feet. I prefer a farther spraying one but honestly there's an aiming issue the farther away your target is. For me, a gun shape isn't subtle enough which is why I prefer a hand held but on a bike, I can understand why you would need something you could palm and grip in a hurry. Thanks for this wonderfully informative video!

    This gun is great! I just had to use it two days ago. A guy came to my camp to assault me. Worked great! Got it all on camera. Buying a couple more. Video is on my channel if interested in seeing the gun in action.

    Your best off just carrying your S&W all the time no need for the spray it might be good for someone that can't carry maybe like under age that can't carry a gun yet or for dogs when you are out biking or out for a walk but I always carry my gun everywhere.

    I've always wondered if the pepper potency expires vs. just the propellant. I had an old plastic canister spray that still spewed 10 feet after 10 years, but I didn't test the potency of the pepper.

    I got one that looks just like a real gun. I wore it like a real gun on my hip & a manager of a gas station immediately ran out the second he saw it when I was walking outside his gas station. I wore it hoping people would be like "oh shit, they got a gun! Don't fuck with them!"
    I WAS WRONG!!!!!!! You will freak some people out & how you wear it could get you attacked or (ironically) get shot. If you're going to carry even a fake gun, ask a professional how to do it correctly, safely & legally. It's not as easy as you think. I'm lucky I wasn't tackled from behind.
    A few people standing outside stared & laughed when I walked by but then looked at each other & suddenly ran into their car & sped off "just in case it was a real gun". They acted tough & tried to look like they were mocking me but the second I turned my back they got the hell outa there. I don't want to scare innocent people, I just want people to know that they shouldn't mess with even the short people. But I did the opposite, I made 4 perfectly innocent strangers just innocently standing around & having a good time, fear for their lives. NOT what I wanted. 😔 I don't want to look like a fuckin bully. If you want to carry a real gun, fake gun, taser or even a little mace gun, go into a gun shop & ask the staff how to safely & legally carry a gun in a way that won't scare everyone. It's awkward but they will probably show you. & it's not their job but most will have no problem teaching you.

      If you reach in your pocket for anything at the wrong time while dealing with police it can get you killed. If it looks like a can of pepper spray or a small flare gun isn't relevant.

    I agree with the thoughts a about this looking like a fire arm and escalation of fight to a potential lethal one. but that range is pretty awesome... as a gun guy though.. I personally would not shoot some one who maced me but I would be as fast as possible to be the first to shoot if I thought it was a real gun that may take me face off....

    I hope that's what your not counting your life's safety with that, because as a former marine and a current weapons trainer who has worked(trained) with several people such as Chris costa, Travis Haley, and Kyle Lamb they have and so as I said that not all advisories that you will meet will react to pepper spray. My brother used to be a police officer and one time when he was on duty he had to use pepper spray in order to stop a threat. However the advisory did not react ( he infact got angrier and more violent)thus my brother had to stop the threat by using a lethal round. So please do not count on pepper spray as your go to saving life situation.

      As a 4.0 private investigation certified and soon to be licensed fugitive recovery agent. I've learned pepper spray is an absolute life saver. If you're a Marine I'm sure you've been hit with pepper spray or tear gas in some shape or form before. Not fun stuff. Pepper spray is one of the leading self defense products that has stopped muggings and rapes more than any other "LESS THAN LETHAL" self defense products. Even if the adversary doesn't react, it forces the eyes to close whether the person wants them to or not blindfolding them and making breathing difficult which means less oxygen to the muscles, therefore weakening their strength. Even if not, not all of us can drop 1K on a pistol. It's only $50 for one of these things at my local gun shop. Not to mention, you can use these whenever a threat is present including unarmed threats. You can't go smoke checking people who try to beat you up unless you feel you're seriously going to die. Even then, the defendants attorney will give you one hell of a time in court.

    • @knightlykin1499
      @knightlykin1499 Před 8 lety +1

      That's very true, but there are options to counter wind currents such as gel spray. Which is much more accurate than regular spray and prevents bystanders from getting hit with it.

    Your logic makes no sense.
    Further, I'm in Los Angeles county of California. Most here don't have carry permits. This is about as close as I can get as a defensive item. Having the range of the pepper gun is preferred over a knife or cane for defense in many cases.
    Don't be so negative. Stupid? Really?
