    I love this film. Not only for Afflecks acting, but the autistic POV. My son is autistic and people who refuse to look at autism differently, think he’s stupid.
    He has incredible artistic skills, for example his 3D spatial kills. Unlike me, and many others who would need to take measurements to make sure things are to scale, he doesn’t. He can just look at things and do it. He’ll make clay objects, and then make multiples either larger or smaller, and they’re all accurately sized. It’s amazing to watch.

      Yeah but the world doesn't make much effort to adjust to those who are different. There needs to be a middle ground. Also exposure doesn't often work well for autistic people. It usually onlh exacerbates the already painful experience of overstimulation.

    He told his handler his plan was to find the guy and shoot him in the head. The second he saw him the man didn't give him a reason to not shoot him, so he killed him. The speech about hope for an unspecified amount of people was irrelevant. Fucking gold.

    This is one of those random films I feel like you just stumble across. My OH put it on one day and I wandered in to the living room to get something and didn't move again until the end of the film. A sneakily good film 👏

    When this movie came out I remember seeing it in theaters, but it didn't do so well. It was like one of those under the radar movies, where not a lot of people saw it because they didn't know what a movie called "The Accountant" would be about. It did alright, just wasn't a blockbuster for sure.
    If you liked this movie, you should watch "Law Abiding Citizen", a lot more methodological killing and stuff. Great freaking movie!

    Watch Ben's younger stuff. Good Will Hunting: He co wrote with Matt Damon and was the 3rd or 4th top role in the movie, but its another view you don't know if you only know him from batman and this.

    As for Ben Afflect films - I seriously hope you don't equate "Batman" acting to be a pentultimate exercise. Ben's a small character in GOOD WILL HUNTING but, frankly, that has two gargantuan performances and everyone else is minor. BOUNCE is a solid film with Ben playing his handsome pretty-boy salesman who experiences a very bad event and spends his film trying to make up for it. DOGMA is a good pairing - almost a buddy-film - with Matt Damon. FORCE OF NATURE uses Pretty Boy Ben matched up to a fairly psycho Sandra Bullock...
    HOLLYWOODLAND is a solid film, too, where Ben plays George Reeves, the TV Superman who mythically committed suicide over being type-cast in Hollywood. Instead, that film gives us an alternate "possibility".
    DAREDEVIL gives him more space than BATMAN ever did. And fortunately, there has been a ?? 2-year-long sequel announced to ACCOUNTANT.

    I think that's the thing about the dad, he understood enough, but he also knew that the world isn't a particularly friendly place, especially at that time to mental disorders
    That fight against the bald guy was when I realised Ben Affleck would be the perfect body double for Jason Voorhees

    • @haniyyahn
      @haniyyahn Před 2 lety +1

      My thought is that the Dad, as it runs in families, is also autistic and since it really wasn't acceptable when he was growing up is "training" Chris the way he was "trained." I know that to a lesser degree that's how most people over 40's parents handled it -- that is, if they could pushing their kid to do things that weren't at all natural for them for the same stated reasons that Chris' Dad gave and also because at the time there were few other options (the center they visit would have been a rare exception) barring some heinous institution. Even though his intentions were good, though, Chris' Dad was abusive. He let a giant, grown man, beat his kids to a pulp in an effort to make them hard. It worked in terms of giving them mad skills but I would doubt that either of them is what one would call happy and both of them are living in the shadows. The reality is that there are still parents trying to force autistic kids to be "normal" - forcing them to be something they at a fundamental level are not and can never can be. That makes me very sad.

      @zach1972 Před 2 lety +1

      @@haniyyahn I never thought the dad might be autistic as well, but that's a good thought
      Totally abusive what he did as well, because that stuff doesn't work in real life, I don't believe
