  • Aqua Marina is a brand that many SUPers are aware of. Whether they've got you on the water with your first board or offered you a good next shape to progress on to, they have have a comprehensive iSUP range. Aqua Marina have been offering inflatable SUPs for over 10 years now, and with them always hitting a very competitive price point they are a brand that we get many questions about.
    In this video we talk about what changes have been made to the range in 2023 and the brand itself. One thing is for sure... Aqua Mariana have really made some great changes and improvements to the range and brand, for both paddlers and the environment.

    Hello,
    I'm on a lookout for a new board, and was thinking of maybe getting the new 2023 Aqua Marina Beast. After this review (btw love your reviews!) I was even more into it, considering how you say they updated it compared to the previous version.
    That said I would also love to hear your suggestion on which one you think would be best for someone who is still considered a beginner (although I have mastered the basics pretty well), but who wants to commit to the sport a little bit more. Brands that are available in my country are pretty limited though - I can go for Aqua Marina boards, some Gladiators maybe, a few Aztron are available also, Aquatone and Itiwit. As I said I looked at all your reviews, and thought I might go for AM Beast, or maybe Aztron Terra, although Gladiator ones seem nice as well, and Itiwit seems to have some good ones too. So hard to decide!
    This year I will definitely try a bit of surfing as well (very excited about that!), so definitely gearing up for something that will also be able to carry me on a few waves (the place I'll be visiting in July has some sweet spots with small to medium waves).
    I am 6'3 tall and weigh 88kg. Looking to spend up to 500eur I guess, considering I am still a beginner, but would love to have something a bit more sturdier and efficient.
    Thanks!

      Hello! Thanks for the comment and glad to hear you are on the lookout for a new board. Stick with your initial choice of the Aqua Marina Beast as it would be the perfect board to get into the sport and use it in some waves. It's not the longest board, but a great size for surfing and cruising. If you were thinking of a more touring style board that could handle some small waves and paddle faster, the Gladiator Pro 11'4 might be a suitable choice. Good luck on your SUP journey! Thanks, Beau

    Hi I seen on a post where you used a blackfin V, I currently have that model was looking at upgrading to a more performance board, I was looking at 14’ in starboard in 28 or 30,but never been on a starboard , in your opinion would that be a huge upgrade or just a little one, even looking at the all star too, I’m currently 6’ 90kg or just over 200 pounds more upwind and rougher water, looking at wing foiling too, just wondering where to put my money first thanks in advance

      Hi, thanks for the comment. Yes, upgrading to a Starboard would give you more performance. Are you thinking of a hard board or still an inflatable? Either option would get you more performance but on the inflatable side, the rocker lines, construction, less width and more refined nose will all add to increased performance. If you're thinking of paddling in more rough water, going for something with a little extra width would help with stability. You could definitely go for the 28" width, but if you want to be comfortable and make paddling in rough water more fun, the 30" would be the safer bet. Hope this helps and happy paddling. Thanks. Beau

    Hey my, friend, i comeback to you, i saw the review here, i am maryo, the firefighter if you remember me, from Bucharest, Romania🙂. I have the BEAST 2021 model now, but i want to get soon the Hyper 12''...i was happy with my Beast so far, but i like this Hyper, what do you think, worth to make a big effort here to get it? At my 54 years old, i still love to paddle all day long, and this i think will be perfect for me, at my 1,82m and 85Kg. What do you think? Great review and video as always🙂.

    Hello. I live on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea and we often have a medium wave. Now I am rowing my wife's sap model Korai and now I want to buy for myself. I want to get a board that is stable and able to handle the wave and also possibly a sharper nose for more speed. Would you recommend a Hopper model for this and I will also be happy to recommend boards from other brands that suit my requirements.

      Hello. The Hyper model is great for faster paddling and would handle some small bumps. It would not surf very well, but handle waves when paddling in the ocean. We are impressed with the Hyper for 2023. Other boards that might be good are the Shark SUPs performance tourer, or the Gladiator touring SUPs. Hope this helps. Thanks, Beau

      @@SUPboardermag Thank you very much for the answer. I looked at the descriptions and I liked the Shark Touring. If you had a choice, would you choose Hyper or Shark Touring? I need a side wave resistant board, I would probably prefer a wider board and an added bonus would be a faster board to use less effort rowing.

    • @SUPboardermag
      @SUPboardermag  Před rokem

      The Hyper would probably be your best best for stability and control in side waves. The Shark Performance tourer is 29" wide, but has the nose cone to help with tracking in those bumpy waters. Cheers, Beau

    I wished so bad a Starboard Sup, but is way too expensive here for me, even this Hyper, but i will try to make a big effort to buy one.

      The Hyper has come a long way in 2023. Hoping you can buy a good SUP soon. Thanks, Beau
