NIGHTWISH are masters at what they do, they don't do "gig's" , they do an EXPERIENCE you won't forget, They have perfected the ability to touch every Human sense and soul ALL at the same time. funny thing about Floor, She was originally just a last minute stand-in after Anette left mid US tour, they were very near to reimbursing all the tickets, Floor was given 48 hours to get to the States from Sweden and learn every song while on the way, not many believed she could pull it off but she went on stage and killed it, This Video is from that first tour with them, . She does everything live, no recordings, no overlays, that's just how good Floor is. I recently saw a great comment referring to Floor somewhere else, which said " most singers sing what they can within their limits, while Floor just sings what she wants"
Floor just made another victim. Don't worry it doesn't hurt and who would ever want to be released after having expirienced this? There is no reason for you to know this but you have not even scratched the surface yet of what she is vocally capable off. She can sing from opera high to growling low rock. Simply put she can sing any style and sing any song she likes. Let me give you a little back story about the conditions under which Floor joined the band. She joined the band a couple months earlier when irreconcilable differences had arissen between the band and their previous vocalist (Anette Olzon) during the American leg of their 2012/2013 worldtour. They called her the same evening they fired Anette with their next concert being only 2 days away. So she only had 2 days to learn the complete setlist and had 1 rehersal with the band before she had to go on stage and she nailed it. The reason they asked her to join was that they knew what she was vocally capable off because she had toured with them on several ocasions while she was part of the bands "After Forever" and "Revamp". As you might have guessed from what you have seen sofar she is classically trained and can sing opera aswell. To fully appreciate it i will give you some background to the origin of the song. You have to know that they have had 3 vocalist during the livespan of the band (Floor being the last and current one). The first one was Tarja Turunen (also classically trained) a girl that Tuomas was friends with since kindergarden. They were very sucessfull until she fell in love with her current husband who convinced her to chase a solo carreer. They fired her on the last and recorded (End of an era) concert of the tour with a letter that they also published online (not the smartest move in my oppion). Even though it was a decision made by the whole band it was Tuomas (keyboard player and founder of the band) who received the brunt of the backlash from the fans and press. This threw him in a major depression in which he did not see a future for the band anymore and was even considering suicide. He knew this would have a major impact on his close friends and family so he decided to commit suicide artistically in a song. The closing section is about his parents who build him up agaiin. Thank you........... :-) Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a female fronted symphonic metal band. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley who is a multi-instrulmentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now still is. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen. (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit live (Floor). Welcome to the Nightwish world and the 6' 1" Dutch dynamo who has power, range and quite a stage presence. This was from one of the best concerts done at Wacken 2013. Anything off the set list of that concert is amazing and Floor never disappoints, but you have to listen to her LIVE to really appreciate her skill. Hey the band is great as it has been around from 1996 and this group of musicians have been together for over a decade. The singer was only permanently added to the band after this performance, wonder why??? (LOL). She can sing operatic, metal, rock, and even growl if needed. Floor is the Queen of Metal and one of six (6) Dutch singing goddesses leading symphonic metal bands today. Hey love Marco, bassist, being called Gandalf and the Viking movie fits as this is a Finnish band except for Floor (Dutch) and Troy (British). The band has many different styles for you to explore and the NW army will be by to give you plenty of suggestions!!
Great reaction! Nightwish is the number one Symphonic Metal Band in the world! The part where you picture the Viking on his ship, is where I picture walking through a magical enchanted forest, full of fae and other magical beings haha! Nightwish have been my favourite band since I first found them in 2004 and this is my favourite song of all time, I fell in love with it the first time I heard it on the "Once" album with Tarja (first lead singer) on vocals but then along came Floor and she made it even more epic!! Congratulations on your first Floorgasm! Named after Floor Jansen the girl who's vocals just blew you away. And yes, Tuomas (keyboards, composer) writes songs that take you on journeys. Grab ahold of your seat and hold on tight! The Nightwish requests, likes and subscriptions are about to come flooding in. oh seems half of the people that do Poet and the Pendulum get copyright blocked, and half don't. Never know til you try. This is because part of the song was sampled in a rap song and it triggers youtube algorithms. If you do it (trust me you want to) you can try disputing it or editing in gaps in the song and video to stop youtube from blocking it.

Welcome to the wonder that is Nightwish. Some may call them cheesy or overly theatrical, I call them EPIC. You are so on point about how their music takes you on a journey and tells a story. That 6’1” Amazonian goddess on stage is Floor Jansen, and she is one of the most versatile working singers alive. I loved how you envisioned a Viking battlefield, I don’t know if you’re aware of the band’s history and origin, but they are Finnish (Floor is Dutch), so they would be absolutely thrilled that’s what their music brought to your mind. If you’re a fan of live music, you really can’t get better than Nightwish, especially from the 2013 Wacken and 2016 (?) live at Wembly concerts. Their music ranges from epic theatrical compositions to hard edged folk styled tunes to pure adrenaline heavy metal, and through it all Floor captivates and commands the stage like Mick Jagger can only ever dream of doing. Hope you take the time to explore their catalog and get to know them as I have, I’m a fairly new convert to their fandom and I can’t get enough of them.
Prepare to get bombarded by Nightwish requests and honestly I think you will like them all. Some are heavier, some are softer, and some kind of folksy but all are good. Ann, Carolina Fishing, and of course a bunch from Finland and all over Europe. They know about all you could ever want to know about this band. My favorites are Ever Dream, Song of Myself, Storytime, Romanticide from Wacken, Poet and the Pendulum from Wembley, and honestly any song you listen to from Wacken is done very well.

Yes, that entire concert is mind-blowing. Jukka (drummer here) is an absolute beast! Kai (current drummer due to Jukkas health) is also great, but I just don't feel like he's having as much fun. Every member is top of the game, but don't flaunt individually. They complement each other, and perform MASTERPIECES. So many songs to watch, wide range of emotion and strengths to the songs. Strap in.
Many on comments have suggest "The Poet and the Pendulum at Wembley" and that is really more than just song, it is emotional roller coaster and specially when knowing that this song is based to true history, it gives some special effect to it. Floor Jansen is great singer and she does not just sing, she lives song thru...And that makes her also so lovely to see and hear. on live clips or in concert. Nightwish have a lot of musical stories to tell so why not just take next "Storytime Live Tampere" (Great audio/video quality + nice floorgasm at the end of song)

Nightwish is a symphonic metal band that has been around for over 20 years (started mid 90's). Their typical song is closer to 5-6 minutes long. Floor Jansen is the 3rd different singer for them. Tuomas behind the keyboards are the master mind behind this bands music. Check out Song Of Myself from Wacken or just any song from Wacken. This Gandalf is one of the best singers in the world, Ghost River and you will see or hear him.
Funny that you mentioned Gandalf. This band has something common with him. The orchestrations you hear in the middle section and background is pre-recorded by London Symphony Orchestra, the same that recorded the score of The Lord of the Rings. Also funny that you mentioned Disney. The main composer Tuomas Holopainen (keyboards) has made a solo album called The Music Inspired by the Life and Times of Scrooge. The cover art is drawn by Don Rosa himself. Their is a good music video A Lifetime of Adventure.

The best music today is not from the USA. As you are finding out now some of the best music and lyrics for songs come from bands from other parts of the world. They sound better live than they do on their studio albums. That is a sign of a great musical group.

welcome to club nightwish. their current singer is floor jansen, whom you just saw, they previously had annette olzon(2nd), and tarja(tar-ya) turunen(1st). tarja was their original singer, and i recommend checking out some of their stuff with her, such as passion and the opera, as well as phantom of the opera(my favs). their keyboardist is also their composer, Tuomas Holopainen. gandalf, the bassist, is marco hietala. their guitarist is emppu vourinen. their drummer jukka nevalainen had to semi retire due to his health, and is on hiatus while he tries to get better. their current drummer is kai hahto in the mean time. your reaction is quite common actually. nightwish was already a phenomenal band, but with the addition of floor, its just something special now. PLENTY of nightwish fans, myself included, were put off when the band and tarja split. annette was ok, but it just wasnt the same. then they landed floor. shut the front door. those notes she hits we call 'floorgasms' cause of the goosebumps and chills they cause. and many of us refer to her as a goddess, or amazon. the entire wacken 2013 concert is solid gold, as is their wembly performance, and their one at tempere. the highlight of wembly is of course 'poet and the pendulum', and the tempere is 'the greatest show on earth'. thats the song name, and just a word of warning, that last one is over TWENTY minutes long.
Floor Jansen is not human... she is of some long since gone celestial race left behind in our world as a treasure to marvel at. She is too good for us really and I can therefore feel nothing but humble and greatful to being alive in her time.
Not surprising she has the voice of a goddess... because she IS a goddess. Glad you appreciate the drummer. And it's not a complete journey if you cut off the end. You missed Floor giving that drummer (Jukka) kudos.

i'm not sure why everyone always wants to leap straight for the high minded concept stuff. This whole concert is worth going over with a fine tooth comb before moving on to some heavy hitter from another show. It's a one in a million recording where every aspect was damn near perfect. Pace yourself dude. Dawdle around in this concert. Tiny gems are sometimes more precious than heaping treasure chests.
Gandalf a.k.a Marco Hietala is great with the bass guitar but you should hear him sing. His voice is in perfect sync with Floor Jansen. For a next reaction you should try Romanticide or Song of Myself. And for an even more epic journey, try The Greatest Show on Earth.

Not the best sound but believe me it's worth to spend some time..

She joined the band a couple months earlier when irreconcilable differences had arissen between the band and their previous vocalist (Anette Olzon) during the American leg of their 2012/2013 worldtour. They called her the same evening they fired Anette with their next concert being only 2 days away. So she only had 2 days to learn the complete setlist and had 1 rehersal with the band before she had to go on stage and she nailed it. The reason they asked her to join was that they knew what she was vocally capable off because she had toured with them on several ocasions while she was part of the bands "After Forever" and "Revamp". As you might have guessed from what you have seen sofar she is classically trained and can sing opera aswell. The next song by them you should really take a look at is "The poet and the pendulum". To fully appreciate it i will give you some background to the origin of the song. You have to know that they have had 3 vocalist during the livespan of the band (Floor being the last and current one). The first one was Tarja Turunen (also classically trained) a girl that Tuomas was friends with since kindergarden. They were very sucessfull until she fell in love with her current husband who convinced her to chase a solo carreer. They fired her on the last and recorded (End of an era) concert of the tour with a letter that they also published online (not the smartest move in my oppion). Even though it was a decision made by the whole band it was Tuomas (keyboard player and founder of the band) who received the brunt of the backlash from the fans and press. This threw him in a major depression in which he did not see a future for the band anymore and was even considering suicide. He knew this would have a major impact on his close friends and family so he decided to commit suicide artistically in a song. The closing section is about his parents who build him up agaiin. Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a female fronted symphonic metal band. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley who is a multi-instrulmentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now still is. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen. (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit live (Floor).

Welcome to the Nightwish world and the 6' 1" Dutch dynamo who has power, range and quite a stage presence. This was from one of the best concerts done at Wacken 2013. Anything off the set list of that concert is amazing and Floor never disappoints, but you have to listen to her LIVE to really appreciate her skill. Hey the band is great as it has been around from 1996 and this group of musicians have been together for over a decade. The singer was only permanently added to the band after this performance, wonder why??? (LOL). She can sing operatic, metal, rock, and even growl if needed. Floor is the Queen of Metal and one of six (6) Dutch singing goddesses leading symphonic metal bands today. Hey love Marco, bassist, being called Gandalf and the Viking movie fits as this is a Finnish band except for Floor (Dutch) and Troy (British). The band has many different styles for you to explore and the NW army will be by to give you plenty of suggestions!!

Great reaction! Nightwish is the number one Symphonic Metal Band in the world! They have a lot of songs in their catalog, all from ballads, folk music and quite heavy stuff as well, I’m sure you gonna like their other music, please do a reaction of their “Song of myself “ from this same concert, I’m sure you’re gonna like it.
The part where you picture the Viking on his ship, is where I picture walking through a magical enchanted forest, full of fae and other magical beings haha! Like you said, we all have our own ways to interpret different songs.
Nightwish have been my favourite band since I first found them in 2004 and this is my favourite song of all time, I fell in love with it the first time I heard it on the "Once" album with Tarja (first lead singer) on vocals but then along came Floor and she made it even more epic!!

Congratulations on your first Floorgasm! Named after Floor Jansen the girl who's vocals just blew you away. And yes, Tuomas (keyboards, composer) writes songs that take you on journeys. Grab ahold of your seat and hold on tight! The Nightwish requests, likes and subscriptions are about to come flooding in.
Gandalf (Marco, bass) is also a phenomenal vocalist as you will hopefully see in future reactions. Emppu is a tiny legend of a guitar player. Jukka or Kai depending on which videos you watch are animals on the drums and Troy (who didn;t feature in this one) is a multi-instrumentalist who brings a folk feel to some of the songs.

oh seems half of the people that do Poet and the Pendulum get copyright blocked, and half don't. Never know til you try. This is because part of the song was sampled in a rap song and it triggers youtube algorithms. If you do it (trust me you want to) you can try disputing it or editing in gaps in the song and video to stop youtube from blocking it.

Welcome to the wonder that is Nightwish. Some may call them cheesy or overly theatrical, I call them EPIC. You are so on point about how their music takes you on a journey and tells a story. That 6’1” Amazonian goddess on stage is Floor Jansen, and she is one of the most versatile working singers alive. I loved how you envisioned a Viking battlefield, I don’t know if you’re aware of the band’s history and origin, but they are Finnish (Floor is Dutch), so they would be absolutely thrilled that’s what their music brought to your mind.
If you’re a fan of live music, you really can’t get better than Nightwish, especially from the 2013 Wacken and 2016 (?) live at Wembly concerts. Their music ranges from epic theatrical compositions to hard edged folk styled tunes to pure adrenaline heavy metal, and through it all Floor captivates and commands the stage like Mick Jagger can only ever dream of doing. Hope you take the time to explore their catalog and get to know them as I have, I’m a fairly new convert to their fandom and I can’t get enough of them.

Prepare to get bombarded by Nightwish requests and honestly I think you will like them all. Some are heavier, some are softer, and some kind of folksy but all are good. Ann, Carolina Fishing, and of course a bunch from Finland and all over Europe. They know about all you could ever want to know about this band. My favorites are Ever Dream, Song of Myself, Storytime, Romanticide from Wacken, Poet and the Pendulum from Wembley, and honestly any song you listen to from Wacken is done very well.

Yes, that entire concert is mind-blowing. Jukka (drummer here) is an absolute beast! Kai (current drummer due to Jukkas health) is also great, but I just don't feel like he's having as much fun.
Every member is top of the game, but don't flaunt individually. They complement each other, and perform MASTERPIECES.

Many on comments have suggest "The Poet and the Pendulum at Wembley" and that is really more than just song, it is emotional roller coaster and specially when knowing that this song is based to true history, it gives some special effect to it.
Floor Jansen is great singer and she does not just sing, she lives song thru...And that makes her also so lovely to see and hear. on live clips or in concert.
Nightwish have a lot of musical stories to tell so why not just take next "Storytime Live Tampere" (Great audio/video quality + nice floorgasm at the end of song)

Nightwish is a symphonic metal band that has been around for over 20 years (started mid 90's). Their typical song is closer to 5-6 minutes long. Floor Jansen is the 3rd different singer for them.

Funny that you mentioned Gandalf. This band has something common with him. The orchestrations you hear in the middle section and background is pre-recorded by London Symphony Orchestra, the same that recorded the score of The Lord of the Rings. Also funny that you mentioned Disney. The main composer Tuomas Holopainen (keyboards) has made a solo album called The Music Inspired by the Life and Times of Scrooge. The cover art is drawn by Don Rosa himself. Their is a good music video A Lifetime of Adventure.

welcome to club nightwish. their current singer is floor jansen, whom you just saw, they previously had annette olzon(2nd), and tarja(tar-ya) turunen(1st). tarja was their original singer, and i recommend checking out some of their stuff with her, such as passion and the opera, as well as phantom of the opera(my favs).
their keyboardist is also their composer, Tuomas Holopainen. gandalf, the bassist, is marco hietala. their guitarist is emppu vourinen. their drummer jukka nevalainen had to semi retire due to his health, and is on hiatus while he tries to get better. their current drummer is kai hahto in the mean time.
your reaction is quite common actually. nightwish was already a phenomenal band, but with the addition of floor, its just something special now. PLENTY of nightwish fans, myself included, were put off when the band and tarja split. annette was ok, but it just wasnt the same. then they landed floor. shut the front door. those notes she hits we call 'floorgasms' cause of the goosebumps and chills they cause. and many of us refer to her as a goddess, or amazon.
the entire wacken 2013 concert is solid gold, as is their wembly performance, and their one at tempere. the highlight of wembly is of course 'poet and the pendulum', and the tempere is 'the greatest show on earth'. thats the song name, and just a word of warning, that last one is over TWENTY minutes long.
Floor Jansen is not human... she is of some long since gone celestial race left behind in our world as a treasure to marvel at.
She is too good for us really and I can therefore feel nothing but humble and greatful to being alive in her time.

i'm not sure why everyone always wants to leap straight for the high minded concept stuff. This whole concert is worth going over with a fine tooth comb before moving on to some heavy hitter from another show. It's a one in a million recording where every aspect was damn near perfect.

welcome to nightwish 's world . my favourite band in the last 20 years . floor is the third singer of nightwish and yes she 's a goddess , the dutch dynamo 6'1"without heels and she made another victim .now you are under floor's spell and we wait for more . believe me nightwish dont have bad songs , every song for the wacken 2013 concert is amazing but also tampere 2015 or wembley 2016 .wacken has a better song but you can go wrong with nightwish. greetings from Portugal and you have a new subscriver

If you want to see more of the vocalist Floor Jansen you should check her first band: After Forever - Sins of Idealism live at Pinkpop 2004. Not the best sound but believe me it's worth to spend some time..
