- Live at Montreux 1986 is a concert video release by the British synth pop band Talk Talk of a concert at 1986 Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. The show was part of a tour that started in April 1986 to promote the band's recent album The Colour of Spring, and was to be their only appearance at Montreux, from their last tour.
For this tour, the usual trio of Mark Hollis (vocals), Paul Webb (bass), and Lee Harris (drums) was augmented by John Turnbull on guitar, two percussion players, and two keyboard players. As often, de facto fourth band member Tim Friese-Greene did not play on stage with the band.
:: Tomorrow Started ::
Don't look back until you try
a line so openly a lie,
Outside of you,
it's just tomorrow starting
I've said I'm wrong when I've been right.
I've seen times when I've been sure
but still I find
I'm just the first that you take
are there reasons everybody pays?
They never seem to be any use
They never seem to be any use
it's just tomorrow starting
Don't look back until you've tried.
With time you'll endlessly arrive
outside of use,
with just tomorrow starting
See my eyes
tell me I'm not lying.
I'm just the first that you take
are there reasons everybody pays?
They never seem to be any use
They never seem to be any use
It's just tomorrow starting - Hudba
Anyone out there keeps coming back to this? This concert must be one of the best ever. RIP Mark. Musical genius.
Did that incredible person die...still can't accept it 😔
Sim, eu continuo
Me ,Marks voice is hypnotic.
All. The. Time
Fantastic!!!😁😔
Without a doubt one the most underrated British bands of any era .
A band recognised for fantastic music rather than looks, God bless you Mark
But that excellent drummer Lee Harris was major eye candy!
2024 and i re-visit all Mark and his band, their timeless music regularly. Legends
The day Mark Hollis died, I couldn't go to work - it was an absolutely devastating and a terrible loss. That voice - man alive; I still cry my eyes out listening to him sing; but it's worth it. I can truly say I got to experience this genius in his and my lifetime. It's lovely to know so many people are discovering Talk Talk for the first time.
Chorei ouvindo seu relato pois também choro as vezes qdo ouço! Da aquele aperto no ❤❤❤❤
Yes. I am a new fan, I discovered Talk Talk just about 2 months ago and Mark Hollis's songs are the most beautiful I have ever heard. I am so happy to share with you. ❤🙂
Not only is Mark's voice superb, the band are fantastic musicians. The perfect band, nothing like them ever.
❤
Never will b any this fantastic!
Verità 👍🤩👍
They kinda went under the radar for me in the 80s. I knew their songs but it wasn't until his death and did some research on them that I realised how good they really were. His vocals are so good and distinctive.
@@beachlife2968VERISSIMO ❤❤❤❤❤❤TUTTI FANTASTICI DAL CANTANTE HAI MUSICISTI MERAVIGLIOSI STUPENDI BRAVISSIMI GRAZIE TALK TALK DELLE BELLE CANZONI ❤❤❤❤❤❤GIOVENTÙ CHE NON RITORNA PIÙ AIUTOOOOO AIUTOOOOO AIUTOOOOO 😢😢😢😢😢😢
I'm 40 years old and just happened across this track - where the fuck have this band been all my life ? Mindblowingly brilliant.
Welcome (8 years later) to the phenomenal Mark and Talk Talk! I fell in love in 1982 when song Talk Talk was out, but I heard Have you Heard the News and listened to that album TPO over and over. Now, in 2021 I said I should check out TT now that CZcams's here and man, it opened a whole new deal for me...but also learned of his passing too.
I’m 74 and thinking exactly the same. What a phenomenal band.
This live version is even better than the studio one. ABSOLUTE CLASSIC ! ! My word, I wish I'd been at this gig.
I will never be able to find the words to describe how important for me is this wonderful band, this wonderful song... I have heard it thousand of times, but I can't get tired of it, of this band and the gorgeus voice of Mark Hollis. Without any doubt, one of the greatest pop bands of all times, one of the 80's essentials. I love you, Talk Talk.
100% agree!! Magical :)
i totally agree my friend
I agree. I listened a thousand of times too.
😢
Same here!
Rest In Peace Mark Hollis 25/2/2019. Only 64 years young. Thanks for the music 💔
Damien songs from the kitchen He died on Feb 24 2019 not 25th, could have even been 23. A twitter post on the 24th around 2PM England time posted by a family friend stated it was cancer. Short illness chemo flu or? Privacy was probably highest priority for family. Unfair to fans who needed closure, but understandable. Rest in Spirit Mark Hollis...I will never forget you. 🦋🦋🦋
missing his voice...
Mark hollis love you pfff
Great singer ever, now in heaven with a great band🇬🇧🌐🍏.
Too young do die. RIP Mark ❤️
People..the Eighties were the end of great music..we never had it better on this planet earth life was awesome an adventure...
Paul Webb was/is one of the best bassists of his time. He truly shined while playing a fretless. ..........
PresidentGas1 - like the name, dude 😉 one of my favourite tracks ever
The best Talk Talk song...for me...simply immortal...wow
Thank you Mark Hollis
I play this whenever I'm having an emotional crisis. Hauntingly melancholic but also uplifting x
Music doesn't get better than this...
This was a good album track, but Hollis' voice live just moves it to a whole new level. There's something about his voice that stops me in my tracks every time I hear it. Genius!!
aye yer damn tootin.
Same for me 💙💜
Absolutely.......thus man.....thus band.....integral in my life
Live version is even better than album version, slightly slower for more impact..... What a band!
god damn, best song of all times, love the intro , love the drummer and the magic voice
The piano at the beginning just breaks you down... Then the song destroys you ❣️
... and then builds you back up. Renewed and improved.
2:45 this guy is really feeling the sadness of this song
This is probably the thing I've seen most times on here.
He was a beautiful soul, and a true musical genius.
All the records of Talk Talk ,is great, but they peaked with Spirit Of Eden..That album didn't sell, well, but I will forever be grateful that they made it that way. . .
what an incredible drummer...
Great quality recording. I've been telling people for over 30 years that Mark Hollis's music was way ahead of anything else in terms of technical and harmonic originality, and in 2015 it sounds every bit as rich and original as it did when it was first written.
Same here and couldn't agree more
YES 🦋🦋🦋
2022 and it still aging like a fine wine.
This will still sound brilliant in another 100 years.
Lo escucho en noviembre 2023, casi es 2024 ....y suena tan actual !!! Mágico , mágico
99.9% of comments about Talk Talk are (deservedly) glowingly admiring and appreciative of them and their music. You don't see that anywhere else on CZcams ! :O
sublime...
A dir poco
Lee Harris - one of the most expressive drummers ever to pick up a stick. Paul Webb - what an extraordinary bassist. And Mark? God
Can't believe how often I come back and watch this. Underrated band and massively underrated song!!
Those people down the front of this gig are in the zone, absolutely living this performance. Stunning, stunning, stunning live track.
I swear the audio on this Montreux concert is wonderful. I feel like I am right there with these people even though this happened almost a quarter century ago.
Awesome 😎 amazing 😍
This song, and specifically this live is proof that there is good in this world.
i just wish Mark was still with us.
Beautiful intro.......make 2021 a little better for me
Goosebumps. Moist eyes. This is beautiful.
Some music gets to me. Even after many years. Wow.
The beauty of slow motion.
Talk Talk were such a brilliant band that could transport a very special vibe & emotion through their music.
This band was soooo underrated and was worthy of a 100 million records sales ,, before their time maybe or we all fuck wits buying make believe music
Rest in peace Rupert black..thank you for the music 🎶 🙏
I can't believe how amazing this is.
This band is underrated in so many ways
Heartbreaking...beyond heartbreaking.💔💔💔🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋
I was fortunate enough to see Talk Talk twice, around the same time as the Montreux gig and although I knew they were BRILLIANT I didn't realise how VERY SPECIAL they actually were. 13 of us attended the Leeds Uni gig,for the total sum of £65. Un-believable gig,as was the Bradford one,on Manningham Lane........great days!
I can't find any word to describe this live, deep inside me i know why..because i can't afford to stop to listen and miss any note of it. A pure fusion of an amazing voice with a terrific sound.
I AGREE BRO !❤
No phones, crowd just feeling every note, and still my phone brings me back to this brilliant concert
My favourite version of any talk talk song, vocally and musically brilliant. The piano intro is sweet ❤️❤️
Marc Hollis........the Best ever!!!!
Mark Hollis is a musical genius with a voice of gold!
This was a terrific band....enormously inspired....bands can come and go but these guys never left the house....
A true talent , I grew up with talk talk and one of the most misunderstood and underrated bands of all time ,, they never did as well as the deserved to , when you look at the shit that has made it ,, and remember no tricks in this band , only the real deal,,,, as they say such a Shame ,,,, but big stars in my eyes ,,,this music will never date
One of the best bands ever. Possibly my fave TT tune, beautiful, haunting & almost spiritual. Listen to TT all the time, the magic never fades.
One of my favourite Talk Talk songs. Such a beautiful voice. I miss you allready Mark.
Wonderful music
The best concert ever
A collection of very talented people with that great voice of Marks to round it off. Magical concert.
Mark Hollis Stimme und Musik verzaubert mich immer wieder neu. Bei jedem erneuten Hören und Sehen. Auch er selbst geht mir unter die Haut.
Thank you mark and your band for such timeless beautiful music , I have all your music and have had it from the start , listen all the time , and always hear something new within the songs , how new bands other than a handful can say they have talent , all over paid morons watered down crap, Talk talk should have been as one of the highest paid bands in the world , buy they wouldn't sell their souls. True pros
ur No wrong Pal
There will never be another band that can surpass Talk Talk...mesmerising, Mark your voice unique full of melancholy touching my heart and my soul. Comeback Comeback!
Malheureusement il ne reviendra jamais, Unfortunately he will never come back😢
What a band! What a voice!
Ik kan er eindeloos van genieten.
This is music!!!!
Best band ever
Is it me or does anyone else have always thought that this just isn’t a great song, but a great James Bond song? Mark Hollis was a God among mortals. Rest in Peace bro.
Awesome 😎
The Talk Talk are still ahead 20 years!!!
Talk Talk, super live performance from one of my favorite band...THX...
RIP Mark Hollis! The end of my world of music... Such a shame!
Epic Timeless Track
amazing live vocals.
So great, so unappreciated, so underrated.............I love this group!
Canzone meravigliosa e lui Mark ....superbo
Mark Hollis where r u? You are sorely missed... I hope you have found happiness and peace.
Beautiful and unique harmonious of instruments married up with Marks voice......Pure bliss. Listening to this beautiful song with a beer watching a tropical sunset....Who needs more. Fabulous band.
Mark...so tender and intense...
One of the best live bands of the 80s, and the best singer!
Great concert and very good quality, Thanks!
This life version is really great ❤❤
This is simply amazing. How they were able to perform this concert is beyond me - I was under the impression that The Colour of Spring in particular was 'unplayable' live, considering the immense energy and occasional improvisation that just dominate throughout the entire album. Talk Talk is simply put the most (positively) innovative band of the 20th century. Both musically and artistically.
Great band
grazie Dio per averli mandati sulla terra grandi talk talk
A year ago I wrote that I might die when Hollis begins to sing this song. It's still true. Nothing has changed. Poetry . Tomorrow begins today. Without you....
Such a BEAUTIFUL voice! Mark now you are singing in the heavens ❤
my favourite English band of all times!!! Mark Hollis wooow :)
A dark yet beautifully haunting song
In one sentence....THE BEST TALK TALK SONG EVER...A MASTERPICE!
Pas de portables, pas d'auto thunes, juste de vrais musiciens et cette voix sublime !
You'll never be forgotten Mark. RIP genius
Happy tears 😥 great song!!!
This band is unbelievable und Mark Hollis is the sweetest und most genius Interpreter i´v ever seen and heard! His movements are so full of harmony und even his clothes, hair und glasses are out of place and time. He´s magical. I have no words......love this man!!!
How great can a band be....Talk Talk real magical songs....
No tribute band for this band because no one could get anywhere near to their musical genius sounds and marks voice ❤
Definitely right up there as one of the best songs ever, this version is even better than studio version. Luckily we saw them twice, Bradford Dollars&Dimes and Leeds Uni. Mind-blowing on both occasions, absolutely brilliant!
What a performance !! One of my all time favourite songs !!!
This guy has been a big part of my youth. to know he's dead, I'm crying, sleep well my friend.
Rest In Spirit...wherever you are.🦋🦋🦋
Don't look back until you've tried
A line so openly a lie
'Outside of you, it's just tomorrow starting'
I've said I'm wrong when I've been right
I've seen times when I've been sure but still I find
I'm just the first that you take
Are there reasons everybody pays
They never seem to be any use
They never seem to be any use
It's just tomorrow starting
Don't look back until you've tried
With time you'll endlessly arrive
Outside of use with just tomorrow starting
See my eyes tell me I'm not lying
I'm just the first that you take
Are there reasons everybody pays
They never seem to be any use

Tys4 lyrics my friend!🇺🇸👍
Wow sounds so good!
Guys how good is this. Hollis is faultless. Just the best outfit of the modern era. You Europeans know your stuff. Us Brits really let the side down. God Bless
This version of the song is so beautiful, the chilling/haunting feel of it sounds so good live. I’ve always loved this song and have come back to this specific performance so many times. Such an underrated track!
I'm getting chills!
Where is Mark and guys...they truly were epic. Sometimes when someone is so endlessly talented, we can only have the benefit of their gift for a short time. Thanks to technology we can still enjoy the hauntingly genious
Always Brilliant & Haunting
For 20 years I was hoping for more, but it was not meant to be. But he left so great music, like this one, Such a Shame, It's My Life and of course Spirit of Eden.
Oooooh how I miss Talk Talk , that magc voice from Marc Hollis , the genial music!
I can''t get enough of Talk Talk and Mark Hollis melancholic voice!
