- I love hauling our Lobster and Crab pots, it’s so exciting to see what we have caught and it often brings such delicious fresh shellfish for our family. I share the day with my son and teach him about working lobster and crab pots safely and sustainably.

He 's learning about the wildlife and it feeds his curiosity, learning about fishing, and learning how to be a good father at the same time. He will remember these times with his dad always. Some days it’s hard work. Others you get 2 in the first pots.

Laying back in the chair with his dad "what an astonishing day" grin on the face :) Apparently he enjoys a challenging conditions session John and yeah he is turning into a proper little fisherman...Meanwhile here in Germany in the Brandenburg region they are bickering for years if they should turn the fisherman minimum age from 16 to 12 years old.All the best lads!

I've noticed your James is really get into it going on a wreck fishing trip out hauling the pots on not the nicest of days and even doing a bit of steering, it's all good man really nice to see his enthusiasm grow for the outdoors and one day he'll teach his kids 👍 all for the greater good passing on what we know and improving if we can as we go.
I believe that children should learn about the world from being in it. Not from behind a screen all the time. So I encourage our kids to be outside with us.

I just turned 43 and I hate how saying this sounds but when I was a kid that's what I did that's how I was raised plus their wasn't much to watch on TV and you couldn't pick n choose 4 channels no mobile phones we didn't have a telephone until 1987, myself and my brother and my friends had to find other forms of enterprise and fishing and playing on the local beaches foraging either with my m8s or my dad n grandad teaching me everything they could and making it fun at the same time, it's a shame not all young people can be in nice areas like by the beach or forests but its a bigger shame that so many young people do live at places like that and still they'd prefer watching CZcams and play computer games, it's such a waste cuz it's brilliant being able to go to a beach and have loads of fun but also you learn about what lives there and you have the advantage of seeing but not recognising something on the beach you can take a picture and Google it l8r having best of both worlds education and entertainment also its really healthy!!

James is a great help on the boat.
I fished inshore lobster’s in the bay of Fundy for 15 years with my grandfather. We always used homemade wooden traps hand sewn mesh. Gramp would never use your plastic style and it showed. We caught more than other boats. Maybe go to wood. Like to see more lobsters from your channel. Also your lobsters are half the size we took. Hope you find better grounds
I don’t need to see more lobster. I am only allowed 2 per day and always catch my allowance. I have fished wood before. My first pots were wooden home made ones and they fished the same over a long period of time to steel.

If I asked that of my kids at his age ..never in a million years ! In fact I've got one 6ft 2 in the army he still wouldn't do it 😂

Don't worry about hauling those heavy pots soon you'll be able to sit back and watch James doing them! Hopefully, you didn't get any damage from storm Noah it was pretty bad all along the south coast.

Definitely looking forwards to the spring tides we have coming the weekend after next. Hopefully going to catch our first fresh dinner from Cornwall's awesome watery larder! Eldest son took out a big daddy rat with our .22 Webley Xocet last night. That was cause for celebration. Wife LOVES feeding the myriad, beautiful garden birds we get, but Mr Jackdaw and Magpie tend to shred the fat balls, causing lots to drop to the ground. This has, in turn, brought the rats to the free feast, which wasn't too much of an issue, until they had babies. Two has now turned into eight or nine! Minus one after Casey's sharp shooting last night! ☠
Good man. I had a Webley Vulcan at one point. Good old springers are hard to beat for the pests.
