I like your retouching. You are subtle about it - alter until it looks great then back it off a bit, because you know about editing blindness - the effect that makes you go "crap, did I really do that?" when you look at the pictures again next day.
Great tutorial, and well explained. I would have liked to see you create one of those luminosity masks by hand, or show how you created the action instead of just playing it. The rest was very clear. Thank you for sharing!
Awesome stuff, I color grade using the individual RGB curves all the time, but being able to apply them to selections based on luminosity is brilliant! thanks for the tutorial!
I’ve just discovered this channel. Superb - so clear and simple yet taking a different approach to many other videos. I’ve never touched luminosity masks before so I’ve learnt a lot today !
hey zoe, i dont often comment here but i just wanted to say a massive thank you for putting out this content. I have been struggling for sooo long to get colours how i want them using selective colours and hsl sliders and curves and gradient maps... everything!!! After trying this just one time I am ecstatic with the results. Thank you so much.
This is great, found it via the article on PetaPixel and while I'm not new to retouching, Luminosity masks are still not something I use or know how to use effectively, this helps a lot!
I wonder how much of a difference it makes vs using blend if to select highlights and colors, but I do assume you have way more control here. Thank you either way, this was wonderful to watch. Now I will try and see if these actions work in CS6 as well
Zoe please make more videos!! You deserve so many more subs and views and I am sure if you stay consistent you will get there! You're amazing please keep sharing
Thank you so much! This was so helpful, been trying to achieve the perfect colour grading with selective colour and never achieved the looks I wanted. This was so precise and exact. Again thank you for the luminosity mask download!
Awesome tutorial! Please make tutorial on how to achieve beautiful magazine skin tones pleeeeeeeeeeeease! As in how do we understand where to take the skin tone for that final polished look
Thanks for the great vid. To be honest my problem is less the technique then actually seeing it. Dodge and Burn sure. But when I work with colors (at least this specific) I often think: What clown have you created here... when returning after taking a break or something. Sometime even after turning all adjustments off... Or maybe i just need a better monitor. Anyways thanks for the great video... hope to see more from you.
A beautiful work, a beautiful model and a beautiful edit. I’m not surprised in the least your work won awards.
You know your stuff.
thank you so much!
You're welcome, Zoë. Thank you for the tutorial and the provision of the invaluable action.

hehe yes and the more I retouch the more I am backing off. More natural images are the goal :)

Awesome tutorial. Thanks! Would love to see more from you.
Hi Zoe, Wonderful tutorial! The action you provided for download can be used in Paid/commercial works as well? Thanks a lot & God bless you!
Exactly the sort of targeted colour techniques I was looking for. What is the process to create the luminosity masks manually?
Thank you Zoe. I see that this video is a couple of years old. Would you use lend If instead of luminosity masks?
Thank you so much for this!! Do you maybe have the action for me?
