I had no idea people would buy comments. It's already sad that other stuff is bought which has no meaning. And I gotta share, this video made me feel better so thanks Kara! I do look at my accounts and feel my numbers should always be higher. I'm rethinking this as true engagement is flattering and enjoyable. I'll take that over falsity any day. Most importantly I recently received my first 1 star review in 10 years of selling. It stung a bit. But my thoughts were, it was bound to happen sometime. I'm very happy to hear it may actually help.
Don't normally comment but this one got to me (try to give ya thumbs up as often as I can watching your videos). I know nothing is as good as it seems but WOW...had no idea of the degree(s) of "fakeness" going on behind the scenes or the ability. Thank you Kara, for pulling the curtain back revealing the fakesters and their shenanigans. Love your content and you keeping it real.👍

That's just the tip of the iceberg!
Its funny that you mentioned faking sales and being shut down, just when yesterday I saw a video of one of those etsy "specialists" saying his sister's etsy shop was shut down and appeal rejected and how is it possible if her items were 100 % handmade - this is the same guy that in his videos (I watch them sometimes for fun) advises people to ask their friends and family to buy from you and send them money for that beforehand and tells how he sold shops on etsy- who knows what else he advised his sister....

He's a reseller. He doesn't make any of those bowls.

I have been fortunate (or perhaps unfortunate?) to actually get all 5 star reviews for many years now.
You'll eventually get a 4 star review, it happens, it's not a bad thing, don't worry about it when it does.
I actually explained to a couple of clients about that star seller system and the 'problems of perfection". They both promised to give me a 4 star review the next time...and forgot. 🙄
@@KaraBuntin I agree and appreciate this video/topic. One thing I would add is the reviews situation might vary depending on the type of business and customer base. I am an artist with a relatively small group of wealthier repeat customers/art collectors. As a group, they can be more demanding but they are also more long term relationship oriented customers. Neither side wants to burn bridges, so we tend to play nicer with each other.
