    Dude, on behalf of all Marauder owners... THANK YOU! I can't express the agony i felt not being able to start my damn bike every morning and having to jump it off my car. Once i removed that moron box, the bike immediately started in 35 degree weather with rain pouring down on it. I'm almost in tears i'm soo happy.. thank you sir.

    So I have owned my bike for about 5 years now and have had this problem for all of it. Talked to the previous owner and he had the same problem. Just finished removing the MMM and it starts perfectly. Thank you for the trick.

    I went on to do this and the bike started up on first try. I turned it off and again started up on the first try. Even easier way is to cut all three wires off the harness, strip the two yellows, cap them, tape it, tape the ground in, tuck it away, I had the hardest time stripping the wires, used a sharp steak knife to cut into the wire.

    That is a good point...That is why I wrap them all the way to the wire with electrical tape. I hate but connectors, they never hold (crimp tight enough) for me.

    @tycho1975 it should be on the left side under the plastic frame cover by the seat. ...If you still are unsure go to (migcruisersdotcom) and ask in the forums. I am a member there and there is a wealth of knowledge and a lot of people with 97 that would know...

  • @DAMOOK

    This there an option to just replace it instead of cutting the wires? Anyone know the part to order? I tried finding it under Mitsuba RK-0313 Starter Relay, but can't find the part that looks like this.

  • @jonathangarzon2798

    Get some marine epoxy and fill the cap, waterproof and if you ever need to replace just clip behind

  • @gatorunleashed275
    @gatorunleashed275 Před 10 lety

    My 97 Marauder is running terrible. I installed new plugs and it ran good for about 70 miles but gradually started missing and hesitating and actually cutting out again. I think it's a coil problem, not sure. I'll find out though. As for starting, mine starts quickly always, though it sometimes will crank very slow like the battery is weak, but it fires and runs quickly anyway. I'll leave my MMM thingy there factory unless it gets much worse. Great video btw.

    • @gatorunleashed275
      @gatorunleashed275 Před 10 lety

      Keith Landry no, mine continued to foul the front spark plug. tried new coils, wiring, cleaned the carbs, which is a bad job. Finally gave up, took it to the local dealer, told them what it was doing, and traded it in on a new Honda ctx700n. I love it.

  • @balddassassin5772

    your going to have to replace your starter button over and over again because all the pover is being pushed through the button by jumping it. from experience!

      Stop the slow starts. It worked for my bike.

    • @austins.5542
      @austins.5542 Před 8 lety +1

      +Peer S. Hansen they cause a slow start and just make it harder to start. if you go out with this still connected on the bike it does almost like a start then stop over and over again. removing it makes it start like any other bike.

  • @suyvik
    @suyvik Před rokem

    That means that the starter relay is bad! Why not replace with a new one??

  • @enriquedelamattadurban7596

    But: what is this relay for? Why it is in our bikes? Because every piece that the bike has, is there for a reason…. Can anyone explain us which is the function of this small box in the bike? Thank you!

    Having replaced, the stator, the battery, the starter relay, the rectifier this was the thing that worked. What a strange decision by Suzuki to have included this !

    • @MaaZeus
      @MaaZeus Před 2 lety +1

      The mystery box does have an incredibly important safety job of preventing to start the bike without having a clutch pulled... 🤦‍♂️ Seriously though, what a stupid device. Manual transmissions cars do not have such safety mechanisms so why would I need them in a bike? If I want to drive forward with a starter motor only I should be able to if I damn feel like it, even if it wouls wreck it. 😅

  • @edhanzl21
    @edhanzl21 Před 3 lety

    What is the purpose of the module, that is slows the cranking...?

    • @Gabriel-x2y
      @Gabriel-x2y Před 2 lety +1

      I will give you the answer. The MMM real name is Starter control relay ... Not starter relay (the real starter relay is next to it with the 2 fuse in it.) Its purpose is to protect the circuit of overheating or (over cranking the starter) the key power that action the stater relay goes through it in case of over heating or leftover power in the starting system it ack as a ground (dump). Just like the electricity panel in your house when something overheat the breaker ''jump'' . the control relay does the same thing by dumping the juice in the ground. Its very fragile and old school starter that use brush take no time to ask more amp then the usual 25-50. unless your a tool that crank a bike until smoke comes out of the starter which in that case something is wrong.. i see no problem in removing it. the system is still protected by the 2 fuse. but for emergencies i would have spare fuse.

    • @johnnunyabizzness6452
      @johnnunyabizzness6452 Před 10 lety +1

      i THINK its supposed to be a safety so you dont overhead the starter or relay.
      what we REALLY notice is all it seems to do is make your battery sound dead LOL
      this video is the same result of ANYONE who does it. better than buying new batteries/starters of you dont have to

  • @LTDemian

    What MMM stands for?

    • @johnnunyabizzness6452
      @johnnunyabizzness6452 Před 10 lety +5

      well the proper relay is named "starter control module"
      its made by Mitsuba by we have no idea what it actually does besides make you think your battery or starter is dead LOL
      so we call it the Mystery Mitsuba Module
      remove it and your bike will start much easier and not beat on your battery so badly
