Taking a look at a new tiny refillable gas cannister / stove / lantern. but is it practical? EXPAND FOR LINKS & DETAILS: I bought it here: www.amazon.co....
If you're just doing an overnight backpacking trip, this would reduce the size and weight needed for a faux "JetBoil" stove, combined with the stove as Kent shows us here. As for lighting, I'll stick to my Luci light and not need anything but a little sunshine to fuel it. It stores flat, weighs next to nothing, and doesn't require any additional parts or pieces. Also, I don't need to be concerned about breaking the chimney and completely negating the lantern. When I looked at this lamp on Amazon, it said it takes isobutane, which is not the same as butane. As you were using butane, the results might have been different. I picked up an isobutane stove at a thrift shop, but after seeing how much fuel was, I got rid of it. (Food for thought.) Both propane and butane are significantly cheaper fuels. Thanks for the review! This is a cute little lantern but I think you already discovered the best use case for it with your stove. (Love your gorgeous Bengal!) 🐈😻😸Judging from the comments, you could easily create another channel with your cat as the star.
The good thing is the cheap fuel it uses compared to those expensive canisters. Plus the small size makes it handy for a brew kit you can carry all the time. Yes, they do sell an adaptor so you can fill it from your other canisters and not waste them. Great vid. Liked and subbed.
Thanks Andy for the video. The canister looks like it would perfect for day trip hiking. The lantern to be an add on and decoration for the camping site but I like your Hurricane lanterns better. Have a great day!
I have an old Coleman Micro Peak one lantern that is similar. They are no longer made. They are very small (will fit in the palm of my hand) and have a mantle. They give off a nice amount of light for their small size and you arent reliant on batteries which is a plus for me. I can run my backpacking stove and lantern off the same canister of fuel. I paid next to nothing when I got it. They have really gone up in price since they are still in demand and no longer made. If you ever come across one at a decent price I would grab it. I dont think you would be disappointed in the quality.
I would run it for a minute after filling it to create a bit of an area of vapor in the tank, because if it is full of liquid there's no place for it to expand and that can be a problem, on tanks with no relief valve that can cause a rupture. For lamp that creates a bit of mood lighting or low light it is pretty nice. And I did appreciate you getting some help there from the purrefier with the demonstration.
I was thinking about that when he was talking about using the scale, adding until there's no change. Filling it until it wouldn't take anymore seems fine to determine capacity, but I wouldn't do that for use, either, without bleeding a bit off.
Nice little gadget Andy, look forward to seeing it used a bit more. Just a note, the GoSystems gas canisters sold at Decathlon are Iso-Butane/Propane mix
not much use to me as a lantern, but as a tiny refillable gas canister i'd think it would be perfect as a backup stove for bushcraft overnighters, to make a brew on arrival, (or a coffee in the morning) before lighting a fire to cook a meal. with a tiny lightweight burner it would also be pretty good on a day hike to make tea.
@@EpicureanHikers I had a bit of a search on amazon and it looks like the canister is cheapest when bought with the lantern! I think I'll keep an eye out for a good deal on just the cylinder before I buy.
Looks like a great stove, Have you come accross the Fishbone bioethanol stoves? I use 2 off them a smaller one and a larger one, they are in my opinion really great stoves, so much so I even bought my Niece one for her Duke of Edinburgh award a year or two ago, I think they are a Finland company or Norway I'm not sure but I managed to pick up mine in the UK, Love your work since soming accross your channel a few months ago.
I just put a video up about using one of these lantern tanks with a gas stove. The tank, when delivered, is full of air. I found that it needed a few fills before you get the best use out of it. The brs3000 makes the cylinder very hot. I felt that it made it dangerously hot, but that's just me. The 3000 isn't the most efficient stove so I use it with primus crux that I had lying around without any issue. I look forward to seeing what you think of it after some more play.
Appreciate the review do you know how long it last as a lantern? I have the uco lantern and prefer the low light as it doesn’t ruin my night vision and this could be a cheaper alternative to the candles.
Do U still have eyebrows? Just checking after the flamethrower light. A candle would produce similar results. Plus, it's lightweight, cheaper, & simpler to operate.
I really like the 'box' kitchen. I could see myself using it at the hatch of my vehicle. The little lantern is cute, but... really more of a camping tchotchke or maybe a teaching tool for kids.
Hello! It's tiny and lightweight so it would be interristing on hike but the glass part? Don't you think it would be too fragile to put on a backpack? Cheers from France!
Hey! your reviews are great! I think you'll love our Muscle & Joint Pain Relief Cream products and would be a great fit for a partnership. Let's discuss further and send you some products to try out.
Thumbs up just for the cat! :)
Looks better as a small stove rather than a dodgy lantern.
This guy showcases the same canister in exactly the way you might appreciate: czcams.com/video/4kubmBV3Jfg/video.html
I like the idea of that lantern. And lately at age 73 I like the idea of small things.
Had to watch this after work. Boss man complains that my production suffers when you upload. 😁
Nice lantern Andy 🏮😉👍 put the gas canister in the freezer for a good hour, when you fill it, you'll get the full amount 😉
The lack of mantle for the lantern is really going to reduce the luminescence I should think.
It does reduce it. Lanterns such as this are basically made to replicate candle light or replace a small oil lantern.
Aye shame it didnt have a frame for a mantle. That'd made it worthy. I love my coleman, dual fuel.
then think
if you think you should
then think about how its a candle not a lantern
Cool kit…show your fuzzy buddy more!
What a lovely cat you have
I would not light this with a safety match! Come down to it, I would prefer an LED lamp with a small power bank for illumination.
Great review of a little refillable gas tank, lamp and burner. CampingMoon version is even smaller. Thanks.
Passed kitty inspection

Nice little lantern and base. I've got a similar lantern, and it's not bad. Thank you for the video

Your cat is adorable ☺️
Cat was lovely 🌹
The cat love also the first item😅😅
That will come to light in time 😂😂👍
Really nice and totally impractical
Just bought one and love it for the glow. Really struggle to fill it though. Only managed once. Have just put it in the freezer to try once more
Thanks Andy for the video. The canister looks like it would perfect for day trip hiking. The lantern to be an add on and decoration for the camping site but I like your Hurricane lanterns better.
Have a great day!
love the refillable tank. Coleman makes a lantern that has a socks like a larger lantern but you need your standard size gas cans for it...
Interesting bit of kit, might be handy if your out for the day and want a hot drink.

Can't imagine it putting out any useful light but as a secondary cooker definitely useful 👍
Against my better judgement I have ordered one (with your link) for a laugh just to see how useful it is
Nice little gadget Andy, look forward to seeing it used a bit more.

Cant wait to see how wild the box eventually gets.
That's a handy little light 2 in one I like it

I use mine for exactly that. A Brew on a day hike and occasionally cook a meal

The lantern has a soft light. No good for reading a book by but has a nice ambient glow.
Andy, youre starting to border on UL, we want big heavy tents and stoves.
Love the channel. 😊
Eurohike are doing a can in the same format that contains an isobutane propane mix, not sure if it would give a better flame
Take the glass off. It just pulls off then light it, you get a more controllable flame, then replace the glass.
Looks like a great stove,

for the little stove its great
That airplane had a merlin in it!!
That's what I thought.
More interested in it as a stove than a lantern...Take care out there.
I get my propane butane mix cannisters from camping and general in canvey . They have an eBay store aswell.
Oo reminds me of a dominos box! Thanks for the review 👍🏻
Wish i could get a couple. Doesn't ship to the US. Great videos 👍
I have one on its way from Aliexpress, Looks ideas as a small brew stove 😁
Really appreciate your videos. 👍Well done.
Nice, you can refill it
This is interesting, still not giving up my 2 burner Coleman, but useful!
presume that the Go system Iso-Butane/Propane cans would still fill okay and be better in cold weather
Like the tiny gas cannister, but the gas lamp is bloody lethal! Thanks for showing us Andy, but not for me!
Try filling it with a normal tin of lighter gas butane it's a smaller can so higher pressure so should fill it more and works ot alot cheaper
I fill the camping gas cans with the regular lighter gas cans you may have to use an adaptor what comes I'm the lid of the lighter gas
Now I'm wondering if this can be filled with the large propane bottles, because I expect those to be a lot cheaper.
I have bought the slightly bigger one.
It is good you are under a supervisor!!
Cool gear. And you get a nifty wooden box.
I wonder how long the candle will last on the gas I’d imagine it’s pretty frugal with that
Appreciate the review do you know how long it last as a lantern? I have the uco lantern and prefer the low light as it doesn’t ruin my night vision and this could be a cheaper alternative to the candles.
I never have any luck refilling butane lighters, they just don’t seem to hold it for long.
I have a kitty just like your 's
Andy what happen to the Swedish style shelter in the woods

the cat thought u opening a box of food lol

What if someone produce the uper part that can be use in any other butane cane it would be much cheaper and convenient
I wonder how much light it actually gives out.
I’ve bought one but the tank expels the gas soon as i take the refill gas can away, why is this brand new tank
I just bought this but dodgy as hell leaks like a dive the gas bottle but the lantern doesn’t work with the lantern
Hello!

Cheers from France!
propane is ALOT higher pressure than butane, be careful, even IF there is an adapter...
Wouldn't take it camping... kinda cool for home trinket tho😮
Forever filling it not for me and fragile glass why gas ?
I wanted to be the one who noticed: The cat was not in the box.
Hey! your reviews are great!

Just remove the glass . All you need is a pot stand . That flame would probably boil water faster than the stove .
thats what we call incomplete combustion ...yellow flame is not goot ...second burner was superb
yellow flame for more light
2 hours
i will take a usb lantern every day
Thanks for the review you do some great stuff on here BUT a big thumbs 👎down on that lamp ,not for me ,there's much easier lamps to use than that one
bare-flame lanterns are a completely outdated technology. its a giant waste of gas when you could be using a mantle instead
Tosser
I sorry....Did you just refer to the Man of the House as "The Help"? Unacceptable
