The answer is a big YES Bryson. 😀💯. It will be interesting to see when most of the American working class realize this.
You can have capitalism and social security at the same time. Scandinavia is a proof of that. ❤️🇸🇪🇫🇮🇸🇯🇩🇰❤️

Even just the fact that you paid your 'debt' to society a long long time ago and it still prevents you to get hired for certain part time jobs goes to show how messed up the country is.

Get a tent and go to the forest. Or redecorate your house. Or go skiing. Or go visit Japan.
I'm going to Toronto next week.

It's always fascinating to watch your videos and get your perspective, I truly enjoy to you as well as other like minded U.S. citizens on CZcams.
I only wish more Americans would open their eyes like you've been doing this past year or so. Then we'd have a chance to see some actual changes. But I'm worried that it won't happen in our life time, which is a bit depressing.
I also agree with the others here that you shouldn't be a second class citizen just because yoǘ've made mistakes in your past, no one is perfect we all make mistakes. Equal opportunities for all no matter their background that should be the American way.
I hope you get to enjoy your holiday in Scandinavia and I hope you'll be able to have many more "long" vacations, so you can get to see more of Europe and the world in general :)
Wishing you all the best from Denmark take care Bryson

Do not tell the others in the USA, that they are living in a Karl Marx-ian society, of the worst possible scenario! 🤣 It might cause an uproar!? 😱
What happend to all that 'freedom'?
Bryson, it truly is time to move to Europe, also considering your job prospects.
I'm pleased that your employer has given you a chance at overtime...but only bc your past, blocks any alternative (which sucks!)

Second Thought would be pretty centrist in most of Europe. It is not very radical stuff he is talking about.
Karl-Marx was more so analyzing runaway capitalism during the ages up until the industrial revolution than giving a clear answer to how to tackle it. It was left as a vague idea of giving the workers more power, however it was pretty important to make the common man think about society.
For this reason about 50 different leftist variations arose afterwards.
Everyone in Europe since the 1950's have known that the American Dream of working yourself up through the ranks to success is false and stupid. It is why there is such a gigantic middle class in France, Germany, UK, Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Belgium

I wondered what had happened to Labor Unions in the USA - as freedom is a selfevident value for Americans, isn't it? Can employers forbid workers to join the union in their work-place, can employers in the USA sack workers for joining the union?
I watched czcams.com/video/RxhOF1D2fpo/video.html but need further information.
Is the Democratic Party against unions? Really? Can you call that democratic? Unbelieable...

"Alienated" I heard, and thought: this is not a text by an "USAian" of today - but maybe a labour union organizer from the UK.
And well - it was Marx, it turned out. He and his companion Engels wrote far-reaching texts with modern ideas, most of the times not anything horrifying per se. They had a heart for the people who worked and worked and hardly had time to sleep and had precarious situations when it came to food and shelter. They saw it as a "system" - how things worked in an impersonal way. How many of the situations and consequences weren't willed in all aspects, but still "fit" within that machinery. A machinery that it was very difficult to escape. That's why Marx wrote his analyses about how the capital permeated almost every thing by its system.

The greatest thing the capitalism has ever reached was to tell the workers they are no workers anymore, they are all middle class now, and worker is just something ugly and bad that nobody wants to be. And so all those "middle class" people now think they are not far away from the capitalists and have way less in common with the ugly workers, and so of course they don't need to care about worker rights, no worker rights are bad because they want to steal you your middleclass house, or maybe its only a 5 x 5 meter cell where you live in ? No matter its a middle class cell and workers want to steal it, say NO to workers.

@@beldin2987 Yes, only with smearing work, workers, and labor unions, could the oppressing of workers be continued. To a very rich upper-class is a very poor under-class a pre-condition. To make people work so hard they need to be (made) afraid of loosing their job and so their place to sleep in security. The labor unions stood up to defend the needs, the rights, the demands of the work-force.
Of course labour unions have been harrassed, forbidden, bought up, etc - every tactic has been used against them somewhere in the history of the workers.
Something is obviously wrong with the state of the labor unions in the USA, but I don't know their history too well. I'll go and see if Second Thoughts has something about that...

@@DNA350ppm I recently saw someone writing that in the end the US also still suffers from the whole anti-communism propaganda from the McCarthy aera and has never really recoverd from that. But as a german i also don't know too much about that, but it sounds quite resonable.
I mean it seams already that only if someone uses the word "social" most americans already think that is bad, so associal is good then ? That alone is already so messed up and thats also maybe the big problem that needs to overcome, but will maybe never happen before the next big civil war. Seriously as an outsider i have often the impression you are right before it, its not only the racism that you have mainly white against black, but now its also even men against women where it just needs a small spark to explode.
But in the end, as long as its not poor against rich, the riches just sit there watch them do what they do, and after them tell them "hey guy, time to go to work again, and because all the civil war shit you now need to work twice as much" 😂😂

Yes, I think its a fair critisism of USA, especialy working conditions.
Then a swift kick in/to Marx, he was a philosopher, a pupil of Hegel.
Hegel thougt that it was ideas that make people/countrys to be successful, but Marx put Hegel on his head and belived that it was peoples/countrys living/economic situation that adapt any ideas. IE, he reveald that there is differen classes in a society, that got different ideas, this is the standard modell today.
In anyway, I think that at least a quarter of Nordic, German, Irish population emigrated to USA, when there was famine in Europe, it was "The promised land", kind of biblical proportions.
There was free land, no population, (exept indians) and one could be a self made man, there was only oportunitys.. if one was a farmer! Some ended up in "Sweden Hollow" anyway?
And to compare USA and Europe is difficult, even if one only take EU countrys!
EU want a minimum wage in whole EU, Nordic countrys woting against, we dont have legislated mini wages, but we have instead legislation that promote/force collective agreements/promoting both labor unions and company unions to, negotiate and cooperate!
They still have low wages at MC-D in sweden, but its still higher then in USA, and its by there branch agreement, age, experience, responsebility gives a rise. And the company pays mandatory 33% on top of there salary, to the state for pension and healt security!
Its this, after the famine and exodus, nordic countries was the poorest in whole europe, there was almoste no rich elit to rule!
So we have to do it ourself, building our countrys frome the bottom up!
Farmer unions, to start cooperativs, dairy and other food processing industries, company unions that trigerd labour unions, monopolies that trigered consumers cooperative stores, free churches and IOGT/NTO (non alcoholic movment) was altso very active!
You can try the Nordic modell in USA.. its juste this, you first need to be the poorest country in america and build your country frome scratch!
