    Great tips and explanation. Muscle memory is great. If you get stuck on something - take up it's sister sport (e.g. skiing, ballet, breakdancing, etc.) and then come back to it. Muscle memory is a transitional skill that you can apply to any sport. Keep up the good work and videos!

    I’ve ice skated for about 16 years, and only rollerbladed for about 1 year, and I was incredibly impressed to see that this video had using rollerblades as one of the tips. I can say that skating ability increases very noticeably when you learn the fundamentals of rollerblading. I recommend getting rollerblades that have a rockered setup since they match hockey ice skates the most and I also recommend wearing pads. Do research on both of these before buying. And more emphasis on pads, you will learn faster knowing that if you fall you will be fine, as opposed to being afraid to try new things because falls have consequences. (I broke my elbow rollerblading, ergo learning it the hard way). Aside from my advice, the tips in this video are amazing, they are very specific, informational and of ease for the most part.

    I have a question to you:
    Why don't use recommend us to use pads and protection and most importantly: HELMET ??? If you value your head so much, the least thing you could do is to use a helmet!
    And also you said that most of the time, we land on the wrist, I think you should use also wrist pad (roller skates wrist pads for example).
    I just broke my wrist recently because I was ice skating without wrist pad. Most of the time , I used pads for knee but I just realized that you 90 % of the time are rather falling on your wrist rather than you knee with the first contact with ice - when falling.
    So a wrist and elbow pad is recommended.
    And also don't forget to use hockey helmet with metal cage: Why?
    2 reasons:
    Firstly, it protects your face (ofc) and 2nd:ly, it protects your chin and your teeth. Falling on your chin or teeth can be very costly business.
    A hocket helmet with cage will solve all of these problems.
    And using pads will also encourage you more to try to the limit since you will remove your fear of falling since you will know that even if you fall, you will not end up in the hospital.
    Of course, over-wearing of pads can also remove your mobility but at least, focus on the vital and crucial pads which will protect your life and your wallet and health from visiting hospital.
    I was away from work for like 1.5 months due to the wrist injury....

    • @NagyerdeiKorisok
      @NagyerdeiKorisok  Před 5 lety +2

      it's up to individual preference. I don't like extra weight on my head and reduced mobility. Also, it's a fact (there are studies) that wearing protective gear makes you braver. You go for moves that you're not ready to do, meaning you'll learn it in a wrong way. I always like to build up moves slowly from zero, not rushing into doing them.

    • @rei-oq8gw
      @rei-oq8gw Před 5 lety

      I understand what you say with wearing a helmet but I have gone iceskating and you don't even need a helmet that much of you watch ice skating then it looks like you need a helmet but you don't feel like it if your on the ice yourself

    • @StayReal02
      @StayReal02 Před 5 lety +1

      @@rei-oq8gw, I have been ice skating my whole entire life since I was 6 years old, starting from figure skating to ice hockey and now to free styling and I can tell you that one small mistake and you will thank yourself that you actually wear helmet instead of ending dead in the hospital.
      Protection is always going first no matter how skillful you are or if you think you are already a master.
      I can skate like no other but that doesn't mean I will be arrogant and take everything for granted. Especially in freestyling when you take everything to the limit.

    • @kukkosoosi2298
      @kukkosoosi2298 Před 5 lety

      Well maybe it is very rare to hit your head/face/chin on the ice, because you can protect it by cushioning te landing with your arms. But that way you will end up breaking your hands and arms, so why not just buy a helmet and also wrist pads or protecting gloves are good, so you will not break your wrist.

      I really like ice skating, my comment was ironical :) But I've never skated on ice, I skate with rollers skates. I live in the southern part of Italy and unluckly here we don't have ice rinks and the weather is quietly hot so the lakes don't turn iced during the winter. I think I'll surely start if I'll move to the nothern part of Italy. Anyway, your lessons are amazing, keep going! :)
