Crystal Dunn finally being played as a forward?!I never thought I'd see the day.
Swanson, Smith, and Rodman should be the starters. Crystal looked a little slow in the last game I saw, but most players do when compared to Rodman.
It's too bad we didn't see her play as a forward in the USWNT when she was younger.
Crystal Dunn and Emily Sonnett are on the squad because of their versatility and leadership.
Fortune being the one to announce is literally the most hilarious/genius thing. She needs to doing bits with the team behind the scenes in Paris or preparing for Paris. 😂😂😂
Alex Morgan (She will be 35 years-old on Tuesday July 2nd, 2024), one of the most decorated players in U.S. women's soccer history, was left off the American roster headed to the Olympics in France, the team announced Wednesday. Morgan was the most notable absence of the 18 players named to the squad of first-year coach Emma Hayes, who is seeking to return the Americans to their long-accustomed elite levels. The USWNT crashed out of last year's World Cup in the round of 16 and managed only a bronze at the Tokyo Olympics.

Bethune and Lynn Williams as alternates kinda comes from the left field considering they had not been called for the USWNT in the last windows... Not complaining though, they are really good.

Sadly, Alex Morgan played her last major tournament game in the World Cup.
I still don't see the fuss over Sophia Smith. Yes, she's good in club but not great on an International level .. especially with her diva, arrogant, and cocky attitude it doesn't make any better. I wish Big Fish was healthy. Anyways, how does Sonnett continue to get a call up is beyond me 🤨 she's a horrible player! Well ladies, good luck and make everyone proud! I miss CP23 in the rosters 😭

Great roster with the exception of Dunn. She's a fantastic player but I think that there are younger options that would be better.
She's a great utility player. For such a small roster, and subbing rules it's really smart to bring in a player like Dunn who can slide into any line and any formation.
@@eloramaxwell7020 Yeah, she's a fantastic player, and she brings experience, so I do get it. I just would have preferred to see Alex for the experience, or a Croix Bethune if they were going for a young player. I also think a mid-field without Ashley Sanchez is sad face. Too much available talent, and not enough spots is a good problem to have I guess.

I would like to ask something to the USWNT fans (I am genuinely curious)... Considering Emma Hayes have only been a few months in the job and is only going to have a few weeks with the players, I think it is not an unlikely scenario to see the USWNT not get to the medals. Would you consider that a failure and Emma Hayes a bust? or will you assume it is growing pains and be patient until the real (fair) test for Emma comes in 2027?
The Olympics is too soon to be a valid test of Emma Hayes's leadership. She started with the USWNT just a month ago and will have had just 2 months and 4 friendly games to train the team before the Olympics. I hope the USWNT gets the gold but I won't see a failure to medal as a reflection of Emma's leadership.
Hayes is in it for the long haul - doesn't matter what happens in the Olympics. The Federation made that clear by allowing her to stay with Chelsea.
The goal is 2027. Olympic gold is nice, but everything from now until then is preparation for the World Cup.

The guy asks "what about the men" on a video introducing the women's team.
The U.S. Soccer Women's Team have a storied history in international competition; the men do not. (And I think the Men's Team was announced about a month ago). Hostile, no. Truthful, yes.
The starting 11 should be Murphy, Nighswonger, Davidson, Girma, Fox, Lavelle, Horan, Coffey, Macario, Swanson, Smith & Rodman.
So your starting 11 contains 12 players?

Korbin Albert??? It's Emma Hayes's first missed opportunity to add more creative midfielders to the squad. Rose Lavelle is injury prone and Catarina Macario is not 100% fit yet. I don't know what Korbin Albert brings to the table, but I'll take Lily Yohannes or Croix Bethune over Albert.
You won't see it cause she is more of a defensive midfielder. She is there for the tackles, the head battles and to give the ball to the playmakers (Horan,Lavelle, Rodman etc). That's why you have the impression they don't bring much

The USWNT needs more creative midfielders to serve it to the forwards.
Lavelle’s too important as a playmaker to leave out. If Macario’s not quite 100% now, she certainly will be by the Olympics. But I agree; I’d definitely take Bethune & Yohannes over Albert.
@@TomF18 Lavelle is our best playmaker when she's fit. Macario also has that capability when she's fully fit, but we need backups. The USWNT needs more creativity on the squad, especially when other teams start playing low block to defend us.

I think she will still be a winger. Some rosters put wingers as forwards.

She’s a natural scorer. She won the golden boot in her first season in the NWSL she was just moved to a back during the Jill Ellis era. But it’s good she can play anywhere on the field.

The roster looks great but I would have replaced dunn with lynn williams. Williams broke nwsl records what is hayes thinking. The last time dunn scored was 8yrs ago and got lucky the day she scored this year! Old timers its the young ones turn hopefully do well in olympics

Too Youthful...up front.....I can think of 8 countries that will control the Ball while we paly NWSL style Run after the ball ..... Do we not get the fact that you only need 1 speedster and the rest half to tight pass and find FEET......No HATCH...We had Morgan and LOST BADLY......NO SOPHISTRY in the ATTACK whatsoever.......
We will be OK since maybe the Best Midfield in the Game but if Lavelle gets hurt as usual we are cooked!
